¹ A Psalm of David. Hear my prayer, O Jehovah; give ear to my supplications: In thy faithfulness answer me, and in thy righteousness.

² And enter not into judgment with thy servant; For in thy sight no man living is righteous.

³ For the enemy hath persecuted my soul; He hath smitten my life down to the ground: He hath made me to dwell in dark places, as those that have been long dead.

⁴ Therefore is my spirit overwhelmed within me; My heart within me is desolate.

⁵ I remember the days of old; I meditate on all thy doings; I muse on the work of thy hands.

⁶ I spread forth my hands unto thee: My soul thirsteth after thee, as a weary land. Selah

⁷ Make haste to answer me, O Jehovah; my spirit faileth: Hide not thy face from me, Lest I become like them that go down into the pit.

⁸ Cause me to hear thy lovingkindness in the morning; For in thee do I trust: Cause me to know the way wherein I should walk; For I lift up my soul unto thee.

⁹ Deliver me, O Jehovah, from mine enemies: I flee unto thee to hide me.

² My mercy, and my refuge; my helper, and my deliverer; my protector, in whom I have trusted; who subdues my people under me.

³ Lord, what is man, that thou art made known to him? or the son of man, that thou takest account of him?

⁴ Man is like to vanity: his days pass as a shadow.

⁵ O Lord, bow thy heavens, and come down: touch the mountains, and they shall smoke.

⁶ Send lightning, and thou shalt scatter them: send forth thine arrows, and thou shalt discomfit them.

⁷ Send forth thine hand from on high; rescue me, and deliver me out of great waters, out of the hand of strange children;

⁸ whose mouth has spoken vanity, and their right hand is a right hand of iniquity.

⁹ O God, I will sing a new song to thee: I will play to thee on a psaltery of ten strings.

¹ Yahweh, hear me while I pray to you! Because you are righteous and because you faithfully do what you have promised, listen to what I am pleading that you do for me.

² I am one who serves you; do not judge me, because you know that everyone has done things that are wrong►.

³ My enemies have pursued me; they have completely defeated me. It is as though they have put me in a dark prison, where I have nothing good to ◄ hope for/expect►, like those who died long ago SIM.

⁴ So I am very discouraged; I am very dismayed/worried.

⁵ I remember what has happened previously: I ◄meditate on/think about► all the things that you have done; I consider all the great deeds that you SYN have performed.

⁶ I lift up my hands/arms to you while I pray; I SYN need you, like very dry ground needs rain SIM.

⁷ Yahweh, I am very discouraged, so please answer me right now! Do not hide from me, because if you do that, I will soon be SIM among those who descend to where the dead people are.

⁸ Every morning cause me to remember that you faithfully love me, because I trust in you. I ◄pray/send my prayers up IDM► to you; show me what I should do.

⁹ Yahweh, I have gone/run to you to be protected, so rescue me from my enemies.

¹⁰ You are my God; teach me to do what you want me to do. I want your good Spirit to lead me on a path that is not difficult to walk on.

² Let not your servant come before you to be judged; for no man living is upright in your eyes.

³ The evil man has gone after my soul; my life is crushed down to the earth: he has put me in the dark, like those who have long been dead.

⁴ Because of this my spirit is overcome; and my heart is full of fear.

⁵ I keep in mind the early days of the past, giving thought to all your acts, even to the work of your hands.

⁶ My hands are stretched out to you: my soul is turned to you, like a land in need of water. (Selah.)

⁷ Be quick in answering me, O Lord, for the strength of my spirit is gone: let me see your face, so that I may not be like those who go down into the underworld.

⁸ Let the story of your mercy come to me in the morning, for my hope is in you: give me knowledge of the way in which I am to go; for my soul is lifted up to you.

⁹ O Lord, take me out of the hands of my haters; my soul is waiting for you.

¹⁰ Give me teaching so that I may do your pleasure; for you are my God: let your good Spirit be my guide into the land of righteousness.

³ Lord, what is man, that thou art made known to him? or the son of man, that thou makest account of him?

⁷ Put forth thy hand from on high, take me out, and deliver me from many waters: from the hand of strange children:

⁹ To thee, O God, I will sing a new canticle: on the psaltery and an instrument of ten strings I will sing praises to thee.

¹⁰ Who givest salvation to kings: who hast redeemed thy servant David from the malicious sword:

¹ A psalm of David. Lord, please hear my prayer. Because you are faithful, please listen to my appeal for mercy. Answer me because you do what is right!

² Please don't place me, your servant, on trial, because nobody is innocent in your sight.

³ The enemy has chased me down. He crushes me to the ground. He makes me live in darkness like those who died a long time ago.

⁴ I sense myself fading away inside; I am overwhelmed by a sense of desolation.

⁵ I think of days long ago, and as I meditate I talk to myself about all you have done, I reflect on what you have accomplished.

⁶ I stretch out my hands to you, thirsting for you like dried-out land. Selah.

⁷ Please answer me quickly, Lord! I'm dying! Don't turn away otherwise I'll be just like those who are going down into the grave.

⁸ Tell me every morning about your trustworthy love, because I put my confidence in you. Show me the way I should go, because I dedicate myself to you.

⁹ Save me from those who hate me, Lord—I run to you for protection.

¹⁰ Teach me your will for you are my God. May your spirit of goodness lead me and make my way smooth.

² Do not enter into judgment with your servant, for in your sight no one is righteous.

³ The enemy has pursued my soul; he has crushed me to the ground; he has made me to live in darkness like those who have been dead a long time.

⁴ My spirit is overwhelmed within me; my heart despairs.

⁵ I call to mind the old days; I meditate on all your deeds; I reflect on your accomplishments.

⁷ Answer me quickly, Yahweh, because my spirit faints. Do not hide your face from me, or I will become like those who go down into the pit.

⁸ Let me hear your covenant faithfulness in the morning, for I trust in you. Show me the way where I should walk, for I lift up my soul to you.

² And enter thou not into doom with thy servant; for each man living shall not be made just or justified in thy sight.

³ For the enemy pursued my soul; he made low my life in the earth. He hath set me in dark places, as the dead men of the world,

⁴ and my spirit was anguished on me; mine heart was troubled in me.

⁵ I was mindful of eld or old days, I bethought in all thy works; I be-thought in the deeds of thine hands.

⁸ Make thou early thy mercy heard to me; for I hoped in thee. Make thou known to me the way in which I shall go; for I raised my soul to thee.

⁶ I held forth mine hands to thee; my soul (was) as earth without water to thee. (I held out my hands to thee; my soul was like dry ground without water, thirsting for thee.)

⁷ Lord, hear thou me swiftly; my spirit failed. Turn thou not away thy face from me; and I shall be like them that go down into the pit. (Lord, swiftly answer thou me; for my spirit faileth or for my spirit fainteth. Turn thou not away thy face from me; or I shall be like those who go down into the pit.)
