Psalms 142:4-6 in English

⁴ Look on my right hand, and see; For there is no man that knoweth me: Refuge hath failed me; No man careth for my soul.

⁵ I cried unto thee, O Jehovah; I said, Thou art my refuge, My portion in the land of the living.

⁶ Attend unto my cry; For I am brought very low: Deliver me from my persecutors; For they are stronger than I.

⁴ Therefore my spirit was grieved in me; my heart was troubled within me.

⁵ I remembered the days of old; and I meditated on all thy doings: yea, I meditated on the works of thine hands.

⁶ I spread forth my hands to thee; my soul thirsts for thee, as a dry land. Pause.

⁴ I looked on my right hand, and beheld, but there was no man that would know me: refuge failed me; no man cared for my soul.

⁵ I cried unto thee, O LORD: I said, Thou art my refuge and my portion in the land of the living.

⁴ I look around, but there is no one who pays attentionto me, no one who will protect me, no one who cares about what happens to me.

⁵ So Yahweh, I cry out to you to help me; you are the one who protects me; and you are all that I need while I am alive.

⁶ Listen to me while I cry out to you for help, because I am very distressed. Rescue/Save me from those who are pursuing me, because they are very strong, with the result that I cannot escape from them.

⁴ Looking to my right side, I saw no man who was my friend: I had no safe place; no one had any care for my soul.

⁵ I have made my cry to you, O Lord; I have said, You are my safe place, and my heritage in the land of the living.

⁶ Give ear to my cry, for I am made very low: take me out of the hands of my haters, for they are stronger than I.

⁴ Look on the right hand and see; there is no man that knoweth me: refuge hath failed me; no man careth for my soul.

⁵ I cried unto thee, Jehovah; I said, Thou art my refuge, my portion in the land of the living.

⁶ Attend unto my cry, for I am brought very low; deliver me from my persecutors, for they are stronger than I.

⁴ And my spirit is in anguish within me: my heart within me is troubled.

⁵ I remembered the days of old, I meditated on all thy works: I meditated upon the works of thy hands.

⁶ I stretched forth my hands to thee: my soul is as earth without water unto thee.

⁴ I look to my right for someone to support me—but no one pays me any attention. There's no safe place for me—no one cares about me at all.

⁵ I cry out to you, Lord, for help, saying, “You are the one who keeps me safe; you are all I need in life.

⁶ Please listen to my sad cry, for I'm feeling very low. Please save me from those who are after me, for they're too strong for me.

⁴ I looked vpon my right hand, and beheld, but there was none that would knowe me: all refuge failed me, and none cared for my soule.

⁵ Then cryed I vnto thee, O Lord, and sayde, thou art mine hope, and my portion in the land of the liuing.

⁶ Hearken vnto my crye, for I am brought very lowe: deliuer me from my persecuters, for they are too strong for me.

⁴ (142-5) Look on my right hand, and see, for there is no man that knoweth me; I have no way to flee; no man careth for my soul.

⁵ (142-6) I have cried unto Thee, O LORD; I have said: 'Thou art my refuge, my portion in the land of the living.'

⁶ (142-7) Attend unto my cry; for I am brought very low; deliver me from my persecutors; for they are too strong for me.

⁴ I looked on my right hand, and beheld, But there was no man that would know me: Refuge failed me; No man cared for my soul.

⁴ (142:5) Look to the right, and behold, yea, there is no man that recognizeth me: every refuge is lost to me; there is no one that careth for my soul.

⁵ (142:6) I cried unto thee, O Lord: I said, Thou art my refuge, my portion in the land of life.

⁶ (142:7) Listen unto my entreaty; for I am very miserable: deliver me from my pursuers; for they are too mighty for me.

⁴ Therefore my spirit was grieved in me; My heart was troubled within me.

⁵ I remembered the days of old; And I meditated on all thy doings: Yea, I meditated on the works of thy hands.

⁶ I spread forth my hands to thee; My soul thirsts for thee, as a dry land. Pause.

⁶ Attend to my piercing cry, for very weak am I. Save me from those who pursue me, for they are too strong for me.

⁴ I look to the right and the left; but not a friend have I. No place of refuge is left me, not a man to care for me.

⁵ So I cry to you, O Lord: I say, “My refuge are you, all I have in the land of the living.”

⁶ Attend to my piercing cry, for very weak am I. Save me from those who pursue me, for they are too strong for me.

⁴ I look to my right and and see that there is no one who cares about me. There is no escape for me; no one cares about my life.

⁵ I called out to you, Yahweh; I said, “You are my refuge, my portion in the land of the living.

⁶ Listen to my call, for I have been brought very low; rescue me from my persecutors, for they are stronger than I.

⁴ Look on my right, and see; for there is no one who is concerned for me. Refuge has fled from me. No one cares for my soul.

⁵ I cried to you, Yahweh. I said, “You are my refuge, my portion in the land of the living.”

⁶ Listen to my cry, for I am in desperate need. Deliver me from my persecutors, for they are too strong for me.

⁵ Lord, I cried to thee; I said, Thou art mine hope; my part in the land of livers.

⁶ Give thou attention to my beseech-ing; for I am made low full greatly. Deliver thou me from them that pur-sue me; for they be comforted on or over me.

⁴ I beheld to the right side, and I saw; and none there was that knew me. Flight perished from me; and none there is that seeketh (to help) my soul. (I looked to the right; and I saw, that there was no one there who knew me. I had no way to escape; there was no one to rescue me.)

⁵ Lord, I cried to thee; I said, Thou art mine hope; my part in the land of livers. (Lord, I cried to thee; I said, Thou art my only hope, my portion in the land of the living.)

⁶ Give thou attention to my beseeching; for I am made low full greatly. Deliver thou me from them that pursue me; for they be comforted on me. (Give thou attention to my plea; for I am brought down so very low. Save thou me from those who pursue me; for they be stronger than me.)

⁴ Looking on the right hand — and seeing, And I have none recognizing; Perished hath refuge from me, There is none inquiring for my soul.

⁵ I have cried unto thee, O Jehovah, I have said, 'Thou art my refuge, My portion in the land of the living.'

⁶ Attend Thou unto my loud cry, For I have become very low, Deliver Thou me from my pursuers, For they have been stronger than I.
