Psalms 140:2-7

²(140-3) Who devise evil things in their heart; every day do they stir up wars.

³(140-4) They have sharpened their tongue like a serpent; vipers' venom is under their lips. Selah

⁴(140-5) Keep me, O LORD, from the hands of the wicked; preserve me from the violent man; who have purposed to make my steps slip.

⁵(140-6) The proud have hid a snare for me, and cords; they have spread a net by the wayside; they have set gins for me. Selah

⁶(140-7) I have said unto the LORD: 'Thou art my God'; give ear, O LORD, unto the voice of my supplications.

⁷(140-8) O GOD the Lord, the strength of my salvation, who hast screened my head in the day of battle,
