⁴ Who have said, With our tongue will we prevail; Our lips are our own: who is lord over us?

⁵ Because of the oppression of the poor, because of the sighing of the needy, Now will I arise, saith Jehovah; I will set him in the safety he panteth for.

⁶ The words of Jehovah are pure words; As silver tried in a furnace on the earth, Purified seven times.

⁷ Thou wilt keep them, O Jehovah, Thou wilt preserve them from this generation for ever.

⁴ Look on me, hearken to me, O Lord my God: lighten mine eyes, lest I sleep in death;

⁵ lest at any time mine enemy say, I have prevailed against him: my persecutors will exult if ever I should be moved.

⁶ But I have hoped in thy mercy; my heart shall exult in thy salvation. I will sing to the Lord who has dealt bountifully with me, and I will sing psalms to the name of the Lord most high.

⁴ They say, “By telling lies we will get what we want; we control what we say MTY, so no one can tell us what we should not do!”

⁵ But Yahweh replies, “I have seen the violent things that they have done to helpless people; and I have heard those people groaning, so I will arise and rescue the people who are wanting me to help them.”

⁶ Yahweh, you always do what you have promised to do; what you have promised is as precious and pure as silver that has been heated seven times in a furnace to get rid of all the impure material.

⁷ Wicked people strut around proudly, and people praise them for doing vile/wicked deeds, but Yahweh, we know that you will protect/rescue us from those wicked people.

⁵ Lest at any time my enemy say: I have prevailed against him. They that trouble me will rejoice when I am moved:

⁶ But I have trusted in thy mercy. My heart shall rejoice in thy salvation: I will sing to the Lord, who giveth me good things: yea I will sing to the name of the Lord the most high.

⁴ these people who say, “We will succeed through what we say; our mouths belong to us. We don't take orders from anyone!”

⁵ “Because of the violence the helpless have suffered, and because of the groans of the poor, I will rise up to defend them,” says the Lord. “I will give them the protection they have been longing for.”

⁶ What the Lord says is trustworthy, as pure as silver refined seven times in a furnace.

⁷ You, Lord will keep the oppressed safe; you will protect us from these kinds of people forever;

⁴ Which haue saide, With our tongue will we preuaile: our lippes are our owne: who is Lord ouer vs?

⁵ Now for the oppression of the needy, and for the sighes of the poore, I will vp, sayeth the Lord, and will set at libertie him, whom the wicked hath snared.

⁴ they declare, “Our tongue is our strength, our allies our lips: who is lord over us?”

⁵ “The poor are despoiled, and the needy are sighing; so now I will act,” the Lord declares “And place them in the safety they long for.”
