Psalms 128:1-4 in English

¹ A Song of Ascents. Blessed is every one that feareth Jehovah, That walketh in his ways.

² For thou shalt eat the labor of thy hands: Happy shalt thou be, and it shall be well with thee.

³ Thy wife shall be as a fruitful vine, In the innermost parts of thy house; Thy children like olive plants, Round about thy table.

⁴ Behold, thus shall the man be blessed That feareth Jehovah.

¹ A Song of Degrees. Many a time have they warred against me from my youth, let Israel now say:

² Many a time have they warred against me from my youth: and yet they prevailed not against me.

³ The sinners wrought upon my back: they prolonged their iniquity.

⁴ The righteous Lord has cut asunder the necks of sinners.

³ Your wife will be like a grapevine that bears many grapes SIM; she will give birth to many children. Your children who sit around your table will be like a strong olive tree that has many shoots growing up around it SIM.

⁴ Every man who reveres Yahweh will be blessed like that.

⁴ See! this is the blessing of the worshipper of the Lord.

⁴ The Lord who is just will cut the necks of sinners:

¹ A song for pilgrims going up to Jerusalem. Happy are all those who worship the Lord, everyone who follows his ways!

² You will eat what your own hands have produced. You will be happy and do well.

³ Your wife will be like a fruitful vine growing in your home. Your children will be like the shoots of an olive tree around your table.

⁴ This will certainly be the Lord's blessing on those who worship him.

¹ The song of degrees. Blessed be all men, that dread the Lord; that go in his ways. (A song for steps of ascending. Happy be all those, who fear the Lord or who revere the Lord; and who go in his ways.)

² For thou shalt eat the travails of thine hands; thou art blessed, and it shall be well to thee. (For thou shalt eat the fruit of thy labour; thou shalt be happy, and it shall be well with thee.)

³ Thy wife shall be as a plenteous vine; in the sides of thine house. Thy sons as the new springs of olive trees; in the compass of thy board. (Thy wife shall be like a fruitful vine; by the side of thy house. And thy sons and thy daughters shall be like the new branches of olive trees; all around thy table.)

⁴ Lo! so a man shall be blessed; that dreadeth the Lord. (Behold! so shall the man be blessed; who feareth the Lord or who hath reverence for the Lord.)

² The labour of thy hands thou surely eatest, Happy art thou, and good is to thee.
