¹⁷ He that loveth pleasure shall be a poor man: He that loveth wine and oil shall not be rich.

¹⁸ The wicked is a ransom for the righteous; And the treacherous cometh in the stead of the upright.

¹⁹ It is better to dwell in a desert land, Than with a contentious and fretful woman.

²⁰ There is precious treasure and oil in the dwelling of the wise; But a foolish man swalloweth it up.

²¹ He that followeth after righteousness and kindness Findeth life, righteousness, and honor.

¹⁷ A poor man loves mirth, loving wine and oil in abundance;

¹⁸ and a transgressor is the abomination of a righteous man.

¹⁹ It is better to dwell in a wilderness than with a quarrelsome and talkative and passionate woman.

²¹ Those who always try to act in a fair and kind way toward others will live a long time and be honored/respected.

²⁰ Desirable treasure and oil is in the dwelling place of a just man; and an unprudent man shall destroy it. (Desirable treasure and oil be in the dwelling place of the wise; but an imprudent person shall destroy it all.)

²¹ He that followeth rightfulness and mercy, shall find life, and rightwiseness, and glory.

¹⁷ Whoso is loving mirth is a poor man, Whoso is loving wine and oil maketh no wealth.

¹⁸ The wicked is an atonement for the righteous, And for the upright the treacherous dealer.
