²⁵ Before the mountains were settled, Before the hills was I brought forth;

²⁶ While as yet he had not made the earth, nor the fields, Nor the beginning of the dust of the world.

²⁷ When he established the heavens, I was there: When he set a circle upon the face of the deep,

²⁸ When he made firm the skies above, When the fountains of the deep became strong,

²⁹ When he gave to the sea its bound, That the waters should not transgress his commandment, When he marked out the foundations of the earth;

³⁰ Then I was by him, as a master workman; And I was daily his delight, Rejoicing always before him,

³¹ Rejoicing in his habitable earth; And my delight was with the sons of men.

³² Now therefore, my sons, hearken unto me; For blessed are they that keep my ways.

³³ Hear instruction, and be wise, And refuse it not.

²⁵ before the mountains were settled, and before all hills, he begets me.

²⁶ The Lord made countries and uninhabited tracts, and the highest inhabited parts of the world.

²⁷ When he prepared the heaven, I was present with him; and when he prepared his throne upon the winds:

²⁸ and when he strengthened the clouds above; and when he secured the fountains of the earth:

²⁹ and when he strengthened the foundations of the earth:

³⁰ I was by him, suiting myself to him, I was that wherein he took delight; and daily I rejoiced in his presence continually.

³¹ For he rejoiced when he had completed the world, and rejoiced among the children of men.

³² Now then, my son, hear me: blessed is the man who shall hearken to me, and the mortal who shall keep my ways;

²⁵ I was born before the hills and mountains were formed;

²⁶ I, wisdom, was born before Yahweh made the earth, before he made the fields and the soil on the earth.

²⁷ I was there when Yahweh put the sky in place, when he marked the place in the distance where the sky and the oceans seem to come together.

²⁸ I was there when Yahweh put the clouds above the earth and when he caused the water that is inside the earth to be secure.

²⁹ I was there when he fixed a boundary for the seas, so that the water in the seas would not go past those boundaries, and when he put down the foundations which support the earth.

³⁰ I was at the side of Yahweh, the master worker (OR, as though I was his child). I caused him to be happy every day, and I was always rejoicing when I was with him.

³¹ I was delighted with the world that he created; I was happy with the people whom he created, too.

³² So, you people who are like my sons, listen to me. I am pleased with all those who obey my teachings.

³³ Listen carefully to what I teach you and become wise. Do not reject my teaching!

²⁶ When he had not made the earth or the fields or the dust of the world.

²⁷ When he made ready the heavens I was there: when he put an arch over the face of the deep:

²⁸ When he made strong the skies overhead: when the fountains of the deep were fixed:

²⁹ When he put a limit to the sea, so that the waters might not go against his word: when he put in position the bases of the earth:

³⁰ Then I was by his side, as a master workman: and I was his delight from day to day, playing before him at all times;

³¹ Playing in his earth; and my delight was with the sons of men.

³² Give ear to me then, my sons: for happy are those who keep my ways.

³³ Take my teaching and be wise; do not let it go.

²⁵ Before the mountains were settled, before the hills was I brought forth;

²⁷ When he prepared the heavens I was there; when he ordained the circle upon the face of the deep;

²⁸ when he established the skies above, when the fountains of the deep became strong;

²⁹ when he imposed on the sea his decree that the waters should not pass his commandment, when he appointed the foundations of the earth:

³⁰ then I was by him his nursling, and I was daily his delight, rejoicing always before him;

³¹ rejoicing in the habitable part of his earth, and my delights were with the sons of men.

³² And now, sons, hearken unto me, and blessed are they that keep my ways:

³³ hear instruction and be wise, and refuse it not.

²⁵ The mountains with their huge bulk had not as yet been established: before the hills I was brought forth:

²⁶ He had not yet made the earth, nor the rivers, nor the poles of the world.

²⁷ When he prepared the heavens, I was present: when with a certain law and compass he enclosed the depths:

²⁸ When he established the sky above, and poised the fountains of waters:

²⁹ When he compassed the sea with its bounds, and set a law to the waters that they should not pass their limits: when be balanced the foundations of the earth;

³⁰ I was with him forming all things: and was delighted every day, playing before him at all times;

³¹ Playing in the world: and my delights were to be with the children of men.

³² Now therefore, ye children, hear me: Blessed are they that keep my ways.

³³ Hear instruction and be wise, and refuse it not.

²⁵ I was born before the mountains or the hills had been formed,

²⁶ when he hadn't made the earth and its fields or any of the earth's dust.

²⁷ I was there when he placed the heavens in position, when he drew the horizon over the ocean,

²⁸ when he made the clouds in the sky above, when he created the springs of the oceans,

²⁹ when he set limits on the sea so that the waters would not go farther than he ordered, and when he laid out the foundations of the earth.

³⁰ Then I was beside him as a master craftsman. I made him happy every day, and I was always full of joy in his presence.

³¹ I was so happy in the world he created, celebrating together with human beings.

³² And now, my sons, listen to me, for happy are those who follow my ways.

³³ Listen to my instruction and be wise—do not reject it.

²⁵ Before the mountaines were setled: and before the hilles, was I begotten.

²⁶ He had not yet made the earth, nor the open places, nor the height of the dust in the worlde.

²⁷ When hee prepared the heauens, I was there, when he set the compasse vpon the deepe.

²⁸ When he established the cloudes aboue, when he confirmed the fountaines of the deepe,

²⁹ When he gaue his decree to the Sea, that the waters shoulde not passe his commandement: when he appointed the foundations of the earth,

³⁰ Then was I with him as a nourisher, and I was dayly his delight reioycing alway before him,

³¹ And tooke my solace in the compasse of his earth: and my delite is with the children of men.

³² Therefore nowe hearken, O children, vnto me: for blessed are they that keepe my wayes.

³³ Heare instruction, and be ye wise, and refuse it not: blessed is the man that heareth mee, watching dayly at my gates, and giuing attendance at the postes of my doores.

²⁹ When he assigned to the sea his decree, that the waters should not transgress his order: when he established firmly the foundations of the earth:

³⁰ Then was I near him, as a nursling: and I was day by day his delights, playing before him at all times;

³¹ Playing in the world, his earth; and having my delights with the sons of men.

³² And now, O children of men, hearken unto me! for happy those that observe my ways.

³³ Hear correction, and be wise, and reject it not.

²⁹ When he gave to the sea its bounds, that the waters should not pass their border; When he marked out the foundations of the earth,—

³⁰ Then was I by him as a master-builder; I was his delight day by day, Exulting before him at all times;

³¹ Exulting in the habitable part of his earth, And my delight was with the sons of men.

³² “Now, therefore, ye children, hearken to me! For happy are they who keep my ways!

³³ Hear instruction, and be wise! Yea, reject it not!

²⁵ Before the mountains were settled in place, before the hills, I was born;

²⁶ while as yet he had not made the earth, nor the fields, nor the beginning of the dust of the world.

²⁷ When he established the heavens, I was there; when he set a circle on the surface of the deep,

²⁸ when he established the clouds above, when the springs of the deep became strong,

²⁹ when he gave to the sea its boundary by his statute, that the waters should not violate the word of his mouth, when he marked out the foundations of the earth;

³⁰ then I was the craftsman by his side. I was a delight day by day, always rejoicing before him,

³¹ Rejoicing in his whole world. My delight was with the sons of men.

³² “Now therefore, my sons, sh'ma ·hear obey· unto me, for blessed are those who keep my ways.

³³ Sh'ma ·Hear obey· instruction, and be wise. Don’t refuse it.

²⁵ Before the mountains were settled and before the hills, I was born.

²⁶ I was born before Yahweh had made the earth or the fields, or even the first dust in the world.

²⁷ I was there when he established the heavens, when he drew a circle on the surface of the deep.

²⁸ I was there when he established the clouds above and when the springs in the deep became fixed.

²⁹ I was there when he made his limit for the sea, so the waters should not spread beyond his command, and when there was set the limit for the foundations of the dry land.

³⁰ I was beside him, as a skilled craftsman; I was his delight day after day, always rejoicing before him.

³¹ I was rejoicing in his whole world, and my delight was in the sons of mankind.

³² Now, my sons, listen to me, for those who keep my ways will be blessed.

³³ Listen to my instruction and be wise; do not neglect it.

²⁵ and hills stood not altogether yet by firm heaviness; before little hills I was born.

²⁶ Yet he had not made the earth; and floods, and the earths of the world.

²⁷ When he made ready heavens, I was present; when he compassed or enclosed the depths of waters by certain law and compass.

²⁸ When he made steadfast the air above; and weighed the wells of waters.

²⁹ When he compassed to the sea his mark; and setted or put law to waters, that they should not pass their coasts. When he weighed the foundaments of the earth;

³⁰ I was making all things with him. And I delighted by all days, and played before him in all time,

³¹ and I played in the world; and my delights be to be with the sons of men.

³² Now, therefore, sons, hear ye me; blessed be they that keep my ways.

³³ Hear ye teaching, and be ye wise men; and do not ye cast it away.

²⁵ and hills stood not (al)together yet by firm heaviness; before little hills I was born. (and the mountains did not yet stand with firm heaviness; yea, I was born before the little hills.)

²⁶ Yet he had not made the earth; and floods, and the earths of the world. (He had not yet made the earth; and the rivers, and the dust of the world.)

²⁷ When he made ready heavens, I was present, (or When he prepared the heavens, I was there); (and) when he compassed, or (en)closed, the depths of (the) waters by certain law and compass.

²⁸ When he made steadfast the air above; and weighed the wells of waters (or and set in place the water wells).

²⁹ When he compassed to the sea his mark (or When he set the boundaries for the seas); and setted law to (the) waters, that they should not pass their coasts. When he weighed the foundaments of the earth;

³⁰ I was making all (these) things with him. And I delighted by all days, and played before him in all time,

³¹ and I played in the world; and my delights be to be with the sons of men (or and my delight is to be with the sons and daughters of men).

³² Now, therefore, sons, hear ye me; blessed be they that keep my ways. (And so now, sons and daughters, listen ye to me; blessed be those who follow my ways.)

³³ Hear ye teaching, and be ye wise men; and do not ye cast it away. (Listen ye to my teaching, and be ye wise; and do not ye throw it away.)

²⁷ In His preparing the heavens I am there, In His decreeing a circle on the face of the deep,

²⁸ In His strengthening clouds above, In His making strong fountains of the deep,

²⁹ In His setting for the sea its limit, And the waters transgress not His command, In His decreeing the foundations of earth,

³⁰ Then I am near Him, a workman, And I am a delight — day by day. Rejoicing before Him at all times,

³¹ Rejoicing in the habitable part of His earth, And my delights are with the sons of men.

³² And now, ye sons, hearken to me, Yea, happy are they who keep my ways.

³³ Hear instruction, and be wise, and slight not.
