⁷ Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom; Yea, with all thy getting get understanding.

⁸ Exalt her, and she will promote thee; She will bring thee to honor, when thou dost embrace her.

⁹ She will give to thy head a chaplet of grace; A crown of beauty will she deliver to thee.

¹⁰ Hear, O my son, and receive my sayings; And the years of thy life shall be many.

¹¹ I have taught thee in the way of wisdom; I have led thee in paths of uprightness.

¹² When thou goest, thy steps shall not be straitened; And if thou runnest, thou shalt not stumble.

¹³ Take fast hold of instruction; let her not go: Keep her; for she is thy life.

¹⁴ Enter not into the path of the wicked, And walk not in the way of evil men.

¹⁵ Avoid it, pass not by it; Turn from it, and pass on.

¹⁶ For they sleep not, except they do evil; And their sleep is taken away, unless they cause some to fall.

¹⁷ For they eat the bread of wickedness, And drink the wine of violence.

¹⁸ But the path of the righteous is as the dawning light, That shineth more and more unto the perfect day.

¹⁹ The way of the wicked is as darkness: They know not at what they stumble.

²⁰ My son, attend to my words; Incline thine ear unto my sayings.

²¹ Let them not depart from thine eyes; Keep them in the midst of thy heart.

²² For they are life unto those that find them, And health to all their flesh.

²³ Keep thy heart with all diligence; For out of it are the issues of life.

⁸ Secure it, and it shall exalt thee: honour it, that it may embrace thee;

⁹ that it may give unto thy head a crown of graces, and may cover thee with a crown of delight.

¹⁰ Hear, my son, and receive my words; and the years of thy life shall be increased, that the resources of thy life may be many.

¹¹ For I teach thee the ways of wisdom; and I cause thee to go in right paths.

¹² For when thou goest, thy steps shall not be straitened; and when thou runnest, thou shalt not be distressed.

¹³ Take hold of my instruction; let it not go,—but keep it for thyself for thy life.

¹⁴ Go not in the ways of the ungodly, neither covet the ways of transgressors.

¹⁵ In whatever place they shall pitch their camp, go not thither; but turn from them, and pass away.

¹⁶ For they cannot sleep, unless they have done evil: their sleep is taken away, and they rest not.

¹⁷ For these live upon the bread of ungodliness, and are drunken with wine of transgression.

¹⁸ But the ways of the righteous shine like light; they go on and shine, until the day be fully come.

¹⁹ But the ways of the ungodly are dark; they know not how they stumble.

²⁰ My son, attend to my speech; and apply thine ear to my words:

²¹ that thy fountains may not fail thee; keep them in thine heart.

²² For they are life to those that find them, and health to all their flesh.

⁷ The most important thing that you can do is to get wisdom. Even if you obtain many other things, the best thing is to know what things are wise.

⁸ If you consider being wise to be very valuable, people will think very highly of you. If you cling to wisdom like you would cling to a woman you love, many people will honor you.

⁹ If you become wise, that will for you be like a beautiful wreath that is put {someone puts} on your head; it will be like a king's glorious crown.” That is what my father told me.

¹⁰ So now I say, “My son, heed what I say. If you do that, you will live a good long life.

¹¹ I am teaching you the way to live wisely; I am showing you ow to act justly toward others.

¹² If you live wisely, when you decide to do something, you will succeed LIT.

¹³ Hold fast to the things I have taught you to do, and do not let them go. Guard them, because they will be the source of a good life.

¹⁴ Do not do the things that wicked people do; do not behave like they do; do not even walk on the roads that evil people walk on MET.

¹⁵ Stay away from those roads; turn aside and walk on other roads;

¹⁶ because evil people cannot sleep if they have not done some evil deed on that day. They cannot rest if they have not harmed someone.

¹⁷ What they eat and what they drink are things that they have obtained by acting wickedly and violently.”

¹⁸ The behavior of good/righteous people is like the light that begins to shine at dawn and then continues to shine brighter until the brightest time of day.

¹⁹ But the behavior of wicked people is like deep/thick darkness. Because it is very dark, they cannot see the things that cause them to stumble.

²⁰ My son, pay attention to what I am saying. Listen to my words carefully.

²¹ Keep them close to you; let them penetrate your inner being,

²² because you will have PRS a good life and good health if you search for them and find them.

²³ It is very important that you be careful about what you think, because what you think controls MET the things that you do.

¹³ Take learning in your hands, do not let her go: keep her, for she is your life.

¹⁴ Do not go in the road of sinners, or be walking in the way of evil men.

¹⁵ Keep far from it, do not go near; be turned from it, and go on your way.

¹⁶ For they take no rest till they have done evil; their sleep is taken away if they have not been the cause of someone's fall.

¹⁷ The bread of evil-doing is their food, the wine of violent acts their drink.

¹⁸ But the way of the upright is like the light of early morning, getting brighter and brighter till the full day.

¹⁹ The way of sinners is dark; they see not the cause of their fall.

²⁰ My son, give attention to my words; let your ear be turned to my sayings.

²¹ Let them not go from your eyes; keep them deep in your heart.

²² For they are life to him who gets them, and strength to all his flesh.

²³ And keep watch over your heart with all care; so you will have life.

¹⁴ Be not delighted in the paths of the wicked, neither let the way of evil men please thee.

¹⁵ Flee from it, pass not by it: go aside, and forsake it.

¹⁶ For they sleep not except they have done evil: and their sleep is taken away unless they have made some to fall.

¹⁷ They eat the bread of wickedness, and drink the wine of iniquity.

¹⁸ But the path of the just, as a shining light, goeth forwards and increaseth even to perfect day.

¹⁹ The way of the wicked is darksome: they know not where they fall.

²⁰ My son, hearken to my words, and incline thy ear to my sayings.

²¹ Let them not depart from thy eyes, keep them in the midst of thy heart:

²² For they are life to those that find them, and health to all flesh.

²³ With all watchfulness keep thy heart, because life issueth out from it.

⁷ The first thing in becoming wise is to get wisdom! Whatever else you gain, gain insight.

⁸ Treasure wisdom, and she will praise you; embrace her, and she will honor you.

⁹ She will place on your head a wreath of grace; she will present to you a crown of glory.”

¹⁰ Listen, my son, if you accept what I tell you, then you will live a long life.

¹¹ I have explained to you the way of wisdom; I have guided you along the right paths.

¹² Nothing will block your way when you walk, you won't stumble when you run.

¹³ Hold on to these instructions—don't let them go. Protect them, for they are life's foundation.

¹⁴ Don't go the way of the wicked or follow the example of those who do evil.

¹⁵ Avoid that way completely. Don't go there! Turn away, and walk on.

¹⁶ Evil people won't rest until they've done something wrong; they can't sleep unless they've tripped someone up.

¹⁷ For they eat the bread of wickedness and drink the wine of violence.

¹⁸ The way of life of the good is like the light of the sunrise, glowing brighter and brighter until the full light of day shines out.

¹⁹ But the way of life of the wicked is like complete darkness; they don't even know what they're tripping over.

²⁰ My son, pay attention to what I tell you; listen to the words I'm saying.

²¹ Don't lose sight of them; think about them deeply,

²² for they are life to anyone who finds them, and make the whole body healthy.

²³ Most of all, protect your mind, for everything in life flows from it.
