⁶ Forsake her not, and she will preserve thee; Love her, and she will keep thee.

⁷ Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom; Yea, with all thy getting get understanding.

⁸ Exalt her, and she will promote thee; She will bring thee to honor, when thou dost embrace her.

⁹ She will give to thy head a chaplet of grace; A crown of beauty will she deliver to thee.

¹⁰ Hear, O my son, and receive my sayings; And the years of thy life shall be many.

¹¹ I have taught thee in the way of wisdom; I have led thee in paths of uprightness.

¹² When thou goest, thy steps shall not be straitened; And if thou runnest, thou shalt not stumble.

¹³ Take fast hold of instruction; let her not go: Keep her; for she is thy life.

¹⁴ Enter not into the path of the wicked, And walk not in the way of evil men.

¹⁵ Avoid it, pass not by it; Turn from it, and pass on.

¹⁶ For they sleep not, except they do evil; And their sleep is taken away, unless they cause some to fall.

¹⁷ For they eat the bread of wickedness, And drink the wine of violence.

¹⁸ But the path of the righteous is as the dawning light, That shineth more and more unto the perfect day.

¹⁹ The way of the wicked is as darkness: They know not at what they stumble.

²⁰ My son, attend to my words; Incline thine ear unto my sayings.

²¹ Let them not depart from thine eyes; Keep them in the midst of thy heart.

²² For they are life unto those that find them, And health to all their flesh.

²³ Keep thy heart with all diligence; For out of it are the issues of life.

²⁴ Put away from thee a wayward mouth, And perverse lips put far from thee.

²⁵ Let thine eyes look right on, And let thine eyelids look straight before thee.

²⁶ Make level the path of thy feet, And let all thy ways be established.

²⁷ Turn not to the right hand nor to the left: Remove thy foot from evil.

⁶ And forsake it not, and it shall cleave to thee: love it, and it shall keep thee.

⁸ Secure it, and it shall exalt thee: honour it, that it may embrace thee;

⁹ that it may give unto thy head a crown of graces, and may cover thee with a crown of delight.

¹⁰ Hear, my son, and receive my words; and the years of thy life shall be increased, that the resources of thy life may be many.

¹¹ For I teach thee the ways of wisdom; and I cause thee to go in right paths.

¹² For when thou goest, thy steps shall not be straitened; and when thou runnest, thou shalt not be distressed.

¹³ Take hold of my instruction; let it not go,—but keep it for thyself for thy life.

¹⁴ Go not in the ways of the ungodly, neither covet the ways of transgressors.

¹⁵ In whatever place they shall pitch their camp, go not thither; but turn from them, and pass away.

¹⁶ For they cannot sleep, unless they have done evil: their sleep is taken away, and they rest not.

¹⁷ For these live upon the bread of ungodliness, and are drunken with wine of transgression.

¹⁸ But the ways of the righteous shine like light; they go on and shine, until the day be fully come.

¹⁹ But the ways of the ungodly are dark; they know not how they stumble.

²⁰ My son, attend to my speech; and apply thine ear to my words:

²¹ that thy fountains may not fail thee; keep them in thine heart.

²² For they are life to those that find them, and health to all their flesh.

²³ Keep thine heart with the utmost care; for out of these are the issues of life.

²⁴ Remove from thee a froward mouth, and put far away from thee unjust lips.

²⁵ Let thine eyes look right on, and let thine eyelids assent to just things.

²⁶ Make straight paths for thy feet, and order thy ways aright.

²⁷ Turn not aside to the right hand nor to the left, but turn away thy foot from an evil way:

^27a for God knows the ways on the right hand, but those on the left are crooked:

^27b and he will make thy ways straight, and will guide thy steps in peace.

⁶ Do not turn away from wisdom, because if you are wise, you will be protected from all evil/danger. If you love wisdom, wisdom PRS will guard you.

⁷ The most important thing that you can do is to get wisdom. Even if you obtain many other things, the best thing is to know what things are wise.

⁸ If you consider being wise to be very valuable, people will think very highly of you. If you cling to wisdom like you would cling to a woman you love, many people will honor you.

⁹ If you become wise, that will for you be like a beautiful wreath that is put {someone puts} on your head; it will be like a king's glorious crown.” That is what my father told me.

¹⁰ So now I say, “My son, heed what I say. If you do that, you will live a good long life.

¹¹ I am teaching you the way to live wisely; I am showing you ow to act justly toward others.

¹² If you live wisely, when you decide to do something, you will succeed LIT.

¹³ Hold fast to the things I have taught you to do, and do not let them go. Guard them, because they will be the source of a good life.

¹⁴ Do not do the things that wicked people do; do not behave like they do; do not even walk on the roads that evil people walk on MET.

¹⁵ Stay away from those roads; turn aside and walk on other roads;

¹⁶ because evil people cannot sleep if they have not done some evil deed on that day. They cannot rest if they have not harmed someone.

¹⁷ What they eat and what they drink are things that they have obtained by acting wickedly and violently.”

¹⁸ The behavior of good/righteous people is like the light that begins to shine at dawn and then continues to shine brighter until the brightest time of day.

¹⁹ But the behavior of wicked people is like deep/thick darkness. Because it is very dark, they cannot see the things that cause them to stumble.

²⁰ My son, pay attention to what I am saying. Listen to my words carefully.

²¹ Keep them close to you; let them penetrate your inner being,

²² because you will have PRS a good life and good health if you search for them and find them.

²³ It is very important that you be careful about what you think, because what you think controls MET the things that you do.

²⁴ Do not say anything that deceives others and never say what is not true.

²⁵ Keep looking straight ahead toward the events that are before you, and do not turn aside.

²⁶ Plan carefully where you will go and what you will do, and then stay on that road. Then what you do will be right.

²⁷ Do not leave the straight road by turning to the left or to the right. Do only what is right and keep yourself from doing what is evil.

¹⁵ Keep far from it, do not go near; be turned from it, and go on your way.

¹⁶ For they take no rest till they have done evil; their sleep is taken away if they have not been the cause of someone's fall.

¹⁷ The bread of evil-doing is their food, the wine of violent acts their drink.

¹⁸ But the way of the upright is like the light of early morning, getting brighter and brighter till the full day.

¹⁹ The way of sinners is dark; they see not the cause of their fall.

²¹ Let them not go from your eyes; keep them deep in your heart.

²² For they are life to him who gets them, and strength to all his flesh.

²³ And keep watch over your heart with all care; so you will have life.

²⁴ Put away from you an evil tongue, and let false lips be far from you.

²⁵ Keep your eyes on what is in front of you, looking straight before you.

²⁶ Keep a watch on your behaviour; let all your ways be rightly ordered.

²³ With all watchfulness keep thy heart, because life issueth out from it.

²⁴ Remove from thee a froward mouth, and let detracting lips be far from thee.

²⁷ Decline not to the right hand, nor to the left: turn away thy foot from evil. For the Lord knoweth the ways that are on the right hand: but those are perverse which are on the left hand. But he will make thy courses straight, he will bring forward thy ways in peace.

⁶ Don't give up on wisdom for she will keep you safe. Love wisdom and she will protect you.

⁷ The first thing in becoming wise is to get wisdom! Whatever else you gain, gain insight.

²⁶ Make the path of your feet level. Let all of your ways be established.

²⁷ Don’t turn to the right hand nor to the left. Remove your foot from evil.

⁶ Forsake thou not it, and it shall keep thee; love thou it, and it shall keep thee.

⁷ The beginning of wisdom, wield thou wisdom; and in all thy possession, get thou prudence.

⁸ Take thou it, and it shall enhance thee; thou shalt be glorified of it, when thou hast embraced it.

⁹ It shall give increasings of graces to thine head; and a noble crown shall defend thee.

¹⁰ My son, hear thou, and take my words; that the years of life be multiplied to thee.

¹¹ I shall show to thee the way of wisdom; and I shall lead thee by the paths of equity.

¹² Into which when thou hast entered, thy goings shall not be made strait; and thou shalt run, and shalt not have hurting.

¹³ Hold thou teaching, and forsake thou it not; keep thou it, for it is thy life.

¹⁴ Delight thou not in the paths of wicked men; and the way of evil men please not thee.

¹⁵ Flee thou from it, and pass thou not thereby; bow thou away, and forsake it.

¹⁶ For they sleep not, no but they have done evil; and sleep is ravished from them, no but they have deceived simple men.

¹⁷ They eat the bread of unpiety, and drink the wine of wickedness.

¹⁸ But the path of just or rightwise men goeth forth as light shining, and increaseth till to a perfect day.

¹⁹ The way of wicked men is dark; they know not where they shall fall.

²⁰ My son, hearken thou to my words; and bow down thine ears to my speeches.

²¹ Go not they away from thine eyes; keep thou them in the middle of thine heart.

²² For those be life to men finding those, and health of all flesh.

²³ With all keeping keep thine heart, for life cometh forth of it.

²⁴ Remove thou a shrewd mouth from thee; and backbiting lips be far from thee.

²⁵ Thine eyes see rightful or right things; and thine eyelids go before thy steps.

²⁶ Address thou the paths to thy feet, and all thy ways shall be stablished.

²⁷ Bow thou not to the right side, neither to the left side; turn away thy foot from evil.

⁶ Forsake thou not it, and it shall keep thee (safe); love thou it, and it shall keep thee (safe).

⁷ The beginning of wisdom, wield thou wisdom; and in all thy possession, get thou prudence. (The beginning of wisdom, is that thou first obtain wisdom; and among all thy possessions, of greatest importance is that thou get understanding.)

⁸ Take thou it, and it shall enhance thee; thou shalt be glorified of it, when thou hast embraced it. (Receive thou it into thy heart, and it shall advance thee, or shall promote thee, or raise thee up; thou shalt be honoured, when thou hast embraced it.)

⁹ It shall give increasings of graces to thine head; and a noble crown shall defend thee. (It shall bring many favours upon thee; and they shall adorn thee like a noble crown.)

¹⁰ My son, hear thou, and take my words (to heart); (so) that the years of (thy) life be multiplied to thee.

¹¹ I shall show to thee the way of wisdom; and I shall lead thee by the paths of equity (or and I shall lead thee on the fair ways).

¹² Into which when thou hast entered, thy goings shall not be made strait; and thou shalt run, and shalt not have hurting (or and thou shalt not be caused to stumble).

¹³ Hold thou (fast to my) teaching, and forsake thou it not; keep thou it (near), for it is thy life.

¹⁴ Delight thou not in the paths of wicked men; and the way of evil men please not thee. (Delight thou not in the paths of the wicked; and do not let the ways of evil people please thee.)

¹⁵ Flee thou from it, and pass thou not thereby; bow thou away, and forsake it.

¹⁶ For they sleep not, no but they have done evil; and sleep is ravished from them, no but they have deceived simple men. (For they do not sleep, unless first they have done some evil; and sleep is taken from them, unless first they have deceived those who be honest, or have integrity.)

¹⁷ They eat the bread of unpiety, and drink the wine of wickedness. (They eat evil bread, and drink wicked wine.)

¹⁸ But the path of just men goeth forth as light shining (or But the path of the righteous goeth forth like a shining light), and increaseth till to perfect day.

¹⁹ The way of wicked men is dark (or The way of the wicked is dark); they know not where, (or when), they shall fall.

²⁰ My son, hearken thou (to) my words; and bow down thine ears to my speeches.

²¹ Go not they away from thine eyes (or Let them not go away from thine eyes); keep thou them in the middle of thine heart.

²² For those be life to men finding those, and health of all flesh. (For they be life to those who find them, and health to all their flesh.)

²³ With all (safe) keeping keep thine heart (safe), for life cometh forth of it (or for life cometh forth from it).

²⁴ Remove thou a shrewd mouth from thee (or Do not thou speak depraved things); and backbiting lips be far from thee.

²⁵ Thine eyes see rightful things; and thine eyelids go before thy steps.

²⁶ (Ad)dress thou the paths to thy feet (or Direct thou the steps of thy feet), and all thy ways shall be stablished.

²⁷ Bow thou not to the right side, neither to the left side; turn away thy foot from evil.

⁶ Forsake her not, and she doth preserve thee, Love her, and she doth keep thee.

⁷ The first thing is wisdom — get wisdom, And with all thy getting get understanding.

⁸ Exalt her, and she doth lift thee up, She honoureth thee, when thou dost embrace her.

⁹ She giveth to thy head a wreath of grace, A crown of beauty she doth give thee freely.

¹⁰ Hear, my son, and receive my sayings, And years of life are multiplied to thee.

¹¹ In a way of wisdom I have directed thee, I have caused thee to tread in paths of uprightness.

¹² In thy walking thy step is not straitened, And if thou runnest, thou stumblest not.

¹³ Lay hold on instruction, do not desist, Keep her, for she is thy life.

¹⁴ Into the path of the wicked enter not, And be not happy in a way of evil doers.

¹⁵ Avoid it, pass not over into it, Turn aside from it, and pass on.

¹⁶ For they sleep not if they do not evil, And their sleep hath been taken violently away, If they cause not some to stumble.

¹⁷ For they have eaten bread of wickedness, And wine of violence they drink.

¹⁸ And the path of the righteous is as a shining light, Going and brightening till the day is established,

¹⁹ The way of the wicked is as darkness, They have not known at what they stumble.

²⁰ My son, to my words give attention, To my sayings incline thine ear,

²¹ Let them not turn aside from thine eyes, Preserve them in the midst of thy heart.

²² For life they are to those finding them, And to all their flesh healing.

²³ Above every charge keep thy heart, For out of it are the outgoings of life.

²⁴ Turn aside from thee a froward mouth, And perverse lips put far from thee,

²⁵ Thine eyes do look straightforward, And thine eyelids look straight before thee.

²⁶ Ponder thou the path of thy feet, And all thy ways are established.

²⁷ Incline not to the right or to the left, Turn aside thy foot from evil!
