⁹ Lest I be full, and deny thee, and say, Who is Jehovah? Or lest I be poor, and steal, And use profanely the name of my God.

¹⁰ Slander not a servant unto his master, Lest he curse thee, and thou be held guilty.

¹¹ There is a generation that curse their father, And bless not their mother.

¹² There is a generation that are pure in their own eyes, And yet are not washed from their filthiness.

¹³ There is a generation, oh how lofty are their eyes! And their eyelids are lifted up.

¹⁴ There is a generation whose teeth are as swords, and their jaw teeth as knives, To devour the poor from off the earth, and the needy from among men.

⁹ Lest I be full, and deny thee, and say, Who is the LORD? or lest I be poor, and steal, and take the name of my God in vain.

¹⁰ Accuse not a servant unto his master, lest he curse thee, and thou be found guilty.

¹² A wicked generation judge themselves to be just, but do not cleanse their way.

¹³ A wicked generation have lofty eyes, and exalt themselves with their eyelids.

¹⁴ A wicked generation have swords for teeth and jaw teeth as knives, so as to destroy and devour the lowly from the earth, and the poor of them from among men.

¹⁰ Do not ◄slander/say bad things about► a worker to his boss; if you do that, the worker will curse you, and cause you to have trouble.

¹¹ I will list four kinds of evil things that people do: Some people curse their fathers and do not ask God to bless their mothers.

¹² Some people think that they are perfect, but really they have never been cleansed from their guilt for committing disgusting sins.

¹³ Some people are very proud; they think that they are very good and they despise others.

¹⁴ Some people act very cruelly toward others; it is as though MET they have teeth that are like sharp knives; they severely oppress poor people and try to cause them to disappear from the land.

⁹ lest I be filled and become false, and say, Who sees me? or be poor and steal, and swear vainly by the name of God.

⁹ For fear that if I am full, I may be false to you and say, Who is the Lord? or if I am poor, I may become a thief, using the name of my God wrongly.

¹⁰ Do not say evil of a servant to his master, or he will put a curse on you, and you will get into trouble.

¹¹ There is a generation who put a curse on their father, and do not give a blessing to their mother.

¹² There is a generation who seem to themselves to be free from sin, but are not washed from their unclean ways.

¹³ There is a generation, O how full of pride are their eyes! O how their brows are lifted up!

¹⁴ There is a generation whose teeth are like swords, their strong teeth like knives, for the destruction of the poor from the earth, and of those who are in need from among men.

⁹ lest I be full and deny thee, and say, Who is Jehovah? or lest I be poor and steal, and outrage the name of my God.

¹⁰ Speak not too much about a servant to his master, lest he curse thee, and thou be held guilty.

¹¹ There is a generation that curseth their father, and doth not bless their mother;

¹² there is a generation that are pure in their own eyes, yet are not washed from their filthiness;

¹³ there is a generation, — how lofty are their eyes, how their eyelids are lifted up!

¹⁴ — a generation whose teeth are swords, and their jaw-teeth knives, to devour the afflicted from off the earth, and the needy from among men.

⁹ Lest perhaps being filled, I should be tempted to deny, and say: Who is the Lord? or being compelled by poverty, I should steal, and forswear the name of my God.

¹⁰ Accuse not a servant to his master, lest he curse thee, and thou fall.

¹² A generation that are pure in their own eyes, and yet are not washed from their filthiness.

¹⁴ A generation, that for teeth hath swords, and grindeth with their jaw teeth, to devour the needy from off the earth, and the poor from among men.

⁹ Otherwise if I have plenty of money, I may give up on you, saying, “Who is the Lord?” while if I'm poor I may steal and bring the name of my God into disrepute.

¹⁰ Don't slander a servant to his master, or he will curse you and you'll suffer for it.

¹¹ There are some who curse their fathers and do not bless their mothers.

¹² There are some who see themselves as pure but they're still filthy—they have not been washed.

¹³ There are some who think themselves so high and mighty, and who look down on others.

¹⁴ There are some who have teeth like swords, incisors like knives, ready to devour the poor from the earth, the needy from society.

⁹ Least I be full, and denie thee, and say, Who is the Lord? or least I be poore and steale, and take the Name of my God in vaine.

¹⁰ Accuse not a seruant vnto his master, lest he curse thee, when thou hast offended.

¹¹ There is a generation that curseth their father, and doeth not blesse their mother.

¹² There is a generation that are pure in their owne conceite, and yet are not washed from their filthinesse.

¹³ There is a generation, whose eies are hautie, and their eye liddes are lifted vp.

¹⁴ There is a generation, whose teeth are as swordes, and their chawes as kniues to eate vp the afflicted out of the earth, and the poore from among men.

¹³ A generation whose eyes be high, and the eyelids thereof be raised up into high things.

¹⁴ A generation that hath swords for teeth, and eateth with his cheek teeth; that it eat the needy men of the earth, and the poor-alls or the poor of men.

⁹ lest peradventure I be full-filled, and be drawn to deny, and say, Who is the Lord? and lest I be compelled by neediness, and steal, and forswear the name of my God. (lest perhaps I be filled full, and be drawn to deny, and then say, Who is the Lord? or lest I be compelled by neediness, and steal, and forswear the name of my God.)

¹⁰ Accuse thou not a servant to his lord, lest peradventure he curse thee, and thou fall down.

¹¹ (There is) A generation that curseth his father, and that blesseth not his mother. (There be people who curse their fathers, and do not bless their mothers.)

¹² (There is) A generation that seemeth clean to itself, and nevertheless is not washed from his filths. (There be people who seem clean to themselves, yet nevertheless be not washed from their filths.)

¹³ (There is) A generation whose eyes be high, and the eyelids thereof be raised up into high things. (There be people whose eyes be haughty, and whose glances be raised up, or disdainful.)

¹⁴ (There is) A generation that hath swords for teeth, and eateth with his cheek teeth; that it eat the needy men of the earth, and the poor-alls of men. (There be people who have swords for teeth, and eat with their molars; and they eat the needy of the earth, and those who be all-poor, or without anything.)

⁹ Lest I become satiated, and have denied, And have said, 'Who is Jehovah?' And lest I be poor, and have stolen, And have laid hold of the name of my God.

¹⁰ Accuse not a servant unto his lord, Lest he disesteem thee, and thou be found guilty.

¹¹ A generation is, that lightly esteemeth their father, And their mother doth not bless.

¹² A generation — pure in their own eyes, But from their own filth not washed.

¹³ A generation — how high are their eyes, Yea, their eyelids are lifted up.

¹⁴ A generation — swords are their teeth, And knives — their jaw-teeth, To consume the poor from earth, And the needy from among men.
