²² For a servant when he is king; And a fool when he is filled with food;

²³ For an odious woman when she is married; And a handmaid that is heir to her mistress.

²⁴ There are four things which are little upon the earth, But they are exceeding wise:

²⁵ The ants are a people not strong, Yet they provide their food in the summer;

²² For a servant when he reigneth; and a fool when he is filled with meat;

²³ For an odious woman when she is married; and an handmaid that is heir to her mistress.

²⁴ There be four things which are little upon the earth, but they are exceeding wise:

²² What a slave does who becomes a king, a foolish person eating too much food,

²³ what a woman who is hated does when she gets married, and what a female servant does when she becomes the boss instead of her mistress.

²⁴ There are four animals on the earth that are small, but they are very wise:

²⁵ Ants are not strong, but they store up food during the summer in order to have it during the winter.

²² if a servant reign; or a fool be filled with food;

²³ or if a maidservant should cast out her own mistress; and if a hateful woman should marry a good man.

²⁴ And there are four very little things upon the earth, but these are wiser than the wise:

²⁴ Four things be the least things of the earth, and those be wiser than wise men;

²⁵ ants, a feeble people, that make ready meat in harvest to themselves; (ants, a weak, or a lowly, people, that store up food for themselves at harvest time;)

²² For a servant when he reigneth, And a fool when he is satisfied with bread,

²³ For a hated one when she ruleth, And a maid-servant when she succeedeth her mistress.

²⁴ Four are little ones of earth, And they are made wiser than the wise:

²⁵ The ants are a people not strong, And they prepare in summer their food,
