²⁶ Be thou not one of them that strike hands, Or of them that are sureties for debts.

²⁷ If thou hast not wherewith to pay, Why should he take away thy bed from under thee?

²⁸ Remove not the ancient landmark, Which thy fathers have set.

²⁹ Seest thou a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings; He shall not stand before mean men.

²⁶ Become not surety from respect of a man's person.

²⁷ For if those have not whence to give compensation, they will take the bed that is under thee.

²⁹ Know/Learn RHQ this about those who do their work very skillfully: They will quit working for ordinary people and will start working for kings because the kings will want people like that to work for them.

²⁷ for if he hath not whereof he shall restore, what of cause is, that thou (should) take away (the) covering from (off) thy bed? (for if thou hath not whereof to pay, then they shall even take away thy bed from under thee.)

²⁸ Go thou not over the eld marks, (or the boundary stones), which thy fathers have set.

²⁹ Thou hast seen a man smart in his work; he shall stand before kings, and he shall not be before unnoble men.

²⁶ Be not thou among those striking hands, Among sureties for burdens.

²⁷ If thou hast nothing to pay, Why doth he take thy bed from under thee?

²⁸ Remove not a border of olden times, That thy fathers have made.

²⁹ Hast thou seen a man speedy in his business? Before kings he doth station himself, He stations not himself before obscure men!
