Proverbs 21:2-8 in English

² Every way of a man is right in his own eyes; But Jehovah weigheth the hearts.

³ To do righteousness and justice Is more acceptable to Jehovah than sacrifice.

⁴ A high look, and a proud heart, Even the lamp of the wicked, is sin.

⁵ The thoughts of the diligent tend only to plenteousness; But every one that is hasty hasteth only to want.

⁶ The getting of treasures by a lying tongue Is a vapor driven to and fro by them that seek death.

⁷ The violence of the wicked shall sweep them away, Because they refuse to do justice.

⁸ The way of him that is laden with guilt is exceeding crooked; But as for the pure, his work is right.

² Every man seems to himself righteous; but the Lord directs the hearts.

³ To do justly and to speak truth, are more pleasing to God than the blood of sacrifices.

⁴ A high-minded man is stout-hearted in his pride; and the lamp of the wicked is sin.

⁶ He that gathers treasures with a lying tongue pursues vanity on to the snares of death.

⁷ Destruction shall lodge with the ungodly; for they refuse to do justly.

⁸ To the froward God sends froward ways; for his works are pure and right.

³ Doing what is right and fair is more acceptable to Yahweh than bringing sacrifices to him.

⁴ Being proud and arrogant DOU is like a lamp MTY that guides wicked people; being proud and arrogant characterizes ◄wicked people's whole behavior/everything that wicked people do►.

⁵ People who plan carefully will surely have plenty of what they need; those who act too quickly to become rich will become poor.

⁶ Money that people acquire by cheating others by lying MTY to them will soon disappear like a mist, and doing that will soon lead to their death.

⁷ Wicked people refuse to do what is right/just, but they will be ruined because of the violent things PRS that they do.

⁸ Guilty people continually do what is evil; it is as though MET they are walking on a crooked road; but righteous/innocent people always do what is right.

⁸ Twisted is the way of him who is full of crime; but as for him whose heart is clean, his work is upright.

⁸ The perverse way of a man is strange: but as for him that is pure, his work is right.

² People think that whatever they do is fine, but the Lord looks at their motives.

³ Doing what's right and fair pleases the Lord more than sacrifices.

⁴ Pride and arrogance are the sins the wicked live by.

⁵ Those who plan ahead and work hard will have plenty, while those who act rashly end up poor.

⁶ Money made by lies is like smoke in the wind—a chase that ends in death.

⁷ The destruction caused by the wicked will destroy them, for they refuse to do what's right.

⁸ Guilty people live crooked lives, but the innocent follow straight paths.

³ To doe iustice and iudgement is more acceptable to the Lord then sacrifice.

⁴ A hautie looke, and a proude heart, which is the light of the wicked, is sinne.

⁵ The thoughtes of the diligent doe surely bring abundance: but whosoeuer is hastie, commeth surely to pouertie.

⁶ The gathering of treasures by a deceitfull tongue is vanitie tossed to and from of them that seeke death.

⁷ The robberie of the wicked shall destroy them: for they haue refused to execute iudgement.

⁸ The way of some is peruerted and strange: but of the pure man, his worke is right.

² Each way of a man seemeth rightful to himself; but the Lord weigheth the hearts.

³ To do mercy and doom, pleaseth more the Lord, than sacrifices. (To do mercy and justice, that pleaseth the Lord more than sacrifices, or burnt offerings.)

⁴ Enhancing of eyes is the alarging of the heart; the lantern of wicked men is sin. (The raising up of the eyes, and the enlarging of the heart; such sins be the lantern of the wicked.)

⁵ The thoughts of a strong man be ever in abundance; but each slow man is ever in neediness. (The thoughts of a strong person (be) forevermore on abundance, (or on plenty); but those of each person in haste (be) forevermore on neediness./Carefully-made plans shall be successful; but each person in haste shall be forever in need.)

⁶ He that gathereth treasures by the tongue of a lie maker, (or of a liar), is vain, and without heart; and he shall be hurled to the snares of death.

⁷ The ravens of unpious men shall draw them down; for they would not do doom. (The robberies of the wicked shall pull them down; for what they do is wrong.)

⁸ The wayward way of a man is alien from God; but the work of him that is clean of sin, is rightful. (The evil way of a person is alien to God; but the work of him who is clean of sin, is upright.)

² Every way of a man is right in his own eyes, And Jehovah is pondering hearts.

³ To do righteousness and judgment, Is chosen of Jehovah rather than sacrifice.

⁴ Loftiness of eyes, and breadth of heart, Tillage of the wicked is sin.

⁵ The purposes of the diligent are only to advantage, And of every hasty one, only to want.

⁶ The making of treasures by a lying tongue, Is a vanity driven away of those seeking death.

⁷ The spoil of the wicked catcheth them, Because they have refused to do judgment.

⁸ Froward is the way of a man who is vile, And the pure — upright is his work.
