Proverbs 21:13-16 in English

¹³ Whoso stoppeth his ears at the cry of the poor, He also shall cry, but shall not be heard.

¹⁴ A gift in secret pacifieth anger; And a present in the bosom, strong wrath.

¹⁵ It is joy to the righteous to do justice; But it is a destruction to the workers of iniquity.

¹⁶ The man that wandereth out of the way of understanding Shall rest in the assembly of the dead.

¹³ He that stops his ears from hearing the poor, himself also shall cry, and there shall be none to hear him.

¹⁴ A secret gift calms anger: but he that forbears to give stirs up strong wrath.

¹⁵ It is the joy of the righteous to do judgment: but a holy man is abominable with evil-doers.

¹⁴ When someone is angry with you, if you secretly give him a gift, he will stop being angry.

¹⁵ Good/Righteous people are happy when they see others do what is just/fair, but those who do what is evil are terrified when they think about what may happen to them.

¹⁶ Those who stop behaving like those who have good sense behave will soon discover that they have gone to the place where dead people are.

¹⁵ It is joy to a just man to make doom; and it is dread to them that work wickedness. (It is a joy for the righteous to see justice done; but judgement bringeth ruin to those who work wickedness.)

¹⁶ A man that erreth from the way of doctrine, shall dwell in the company of giants, that is, of men evil ruled, either of fiends. (Those who err, or who stray, from the way of doctrine, shall dwell in the company of the dead.)
