Proverbs 16:1-4 in English

¹ The plans of the heart belong to man; But the answer of the tongue is from Jehovah.

² All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes; But Jehovah weigheth the spirits.

³ Commit thy works unto Jehovah, And thy purposes shall be established.

⁴ Jehovah hath made everything for its own end; Yea, even the wicked for the day of evil.

² All the works of the humble man are manifest with God; but the ungodly shall perish in an evil day.

¹ The preparations of the heart in man, and the answer of the tongue, is from the LORD.

² People may think that their actions are right, but Yahweh really knows why people do what they do.

³ ◄Request/Rely on► Yahweh to direct what you plan to do; if you do that, you will succeed in what you plan.

⁴ Yahweh knows why he does everything that he does; he has even prepared the wicked for the time that he will punish them.

¹ Human beings may make plans in their minds, but the final decision is the Lord's.

² People think that whatever they do is fine, but the Lord looks at their intentions.

³ Trust whatever you do to the Lord, and your plans will be successful.

⁴ The Lord has a purpose in everything he does, even the wicked for the day of trouble.

³ Commit thy workes vnto the Lord, and thy thoughts shalbe directed.

⁴ The Lord hath made all things for his owne sake: yea, euen the wicked for the day of euill.

¹ It pertaineth to man to make ready the soul; and it pertaineth to the Lord to govern the tongue. (Each person must prepare their own soul, or their own life; but it is God who governeth their tongue, or telleth them what to say.)

² All the ways of men be open to the eyes of God (or All the ways of people be before God); the Lord is a weigher of spirits, that is, of wills, yielding to man after his deservings.

³ Show thy works to the Lord; and thy thoughts shall be (ad)dressed. (Commit thy plans to the Lord; and they shall succeed.)

⁴ The Lord wrought all things for himself; and he made ready a wicked man to the evil day. (The Lord made everything for its own purpose; and he made the wicked for the day of evil.)

¹ Of man are arrangements of the heart, And from Jehovah an answer of the tongue.

² All the ways of a man are pure in his own eyes, And Jehovah is pondering the spirits.

³ Roll unto Jehovah thy works, And established are thy purposes,

⁴ All things hath Jehovah wrought for Himself, And also the wicked worketh for a day of evil.
