Proverbs 14:1-7 in English

¹ Every wise woman buildeth her house; But the foolish plucketh it down with her own hands.

² He that walketh in his uprightness feareth Jehovah; But he that is perverse in his ways despiseth him.

³ In the mouth of the foolish is a rod for his pride; But the lips of the wise shall preserve them.

⁴ Where no oxen are, the crib is clean; But much increase is by the strength of the ox.

⁵ A faithful witness will not lie; But a false witness uttereth lies.

⁶ A scoffer seeketh wisdom, and findeth it not; But knowledge is easy unto him that hath understanding.

⁷ Go into the presence of a foolish man, And thou shalt not perceive in him the lips of knowledge.

² He that walks uprightly fears the Lord; but he that is perverse in his ways shall be dishonoured.

³ Out of the mouth of fools comes a rod of pride; but the lips of the wise preserve them.

⁵ A faithful witness does not lie; but an unjust witness kindles falsehoods.

⁶ Thou shalt seek wisdom with bad men, and shalt not find it; but discretion is easily available with the prudent.

⁷ All things are adverse to a foolish man; but wise lips are the weapons of discretion.

¹ Wise women PRS hold their families together by the wise things that they do, but foolish women ruin their families by the foolish things that they do.

² By continually behaving/acting righteously, people show that they greatly revere Yahweh; those who ◄walk on crooked paths/always deceive others► show that they despise him.

³ Foolish people will be punished MTY for what they say, but wise people will be protected by what they say MTY.

⁴ If a man has no oxen to plow his field, he does not need to put grain in their feedbox, but if he has oxen, they will enable him to produce an abundant crop.

⁵ Witnesses who are reliable always say what ◄is true/really happened►, but witnesses who are not reliable constantly tell lies about what happened.

⁶ Those who make fun of being wise will never become wise, but those who understand what is right learn things easily.

⁷ Stay away from foolish people, because they will not be able to teach you anything useful.

⁶ The hater of authority, searching for wisdom, does not get it; but knowledge comes readily to the open-minded man.

⁷ Go away from the foolish man, for you will not see the lips of knowledge.

⁵ A faithful witness will not lie: but a deceitful witness uttereth a lie.

⁷ Go against a foolish man, and he knoweth not the lips of prudence.

² Those who live right respect the Lord, but those who live dishonestly despise him.

³ What stupid people say punishes their pride, but what wise people say will protect them.

⁶ It's pointless for a scoffer to look for wisdom, but knowledge comes easily to someone who understands.

⁷ Stay away from stupid people—you won't learn anything from them.

² A man going in rightful or right way, and dreading God, is despised of him that goeth in the way of evil fame.

³ The rod of pride is in the mouth of a fool; the lips of wise men keep them.

⁴ Where oxen be not, the cratch is void; but where full many corns appear, there the strength of the ox is made open.

⁵ A faithful witness shall not lie; a guileful witness bringeth forth a leasing.

⁶ A scorner seeketh wisdom, and he findeth it not; the teaching of prudent men is easy.

⁷ Go thou against a man a fool; and he shall not know the lips of prudence.

¹ A wise woman buildeth her house; and an unwise woman shall destroy with hands, that is, with her evil works, an house builded. (A wise woman buildeth up her own house; but an unwise woman shall destroy with her own hands, that is, with her own evil works, the house that she hath built.)

² A man going in rightful way, and dreading God, is despised of him that goeth in the way of evil fame. (A person who doeth right, and feareth God or and revereth God, is despised by him who goeth in evil ways.)

³ The rod of pride is in the mouth of a fool; the lips of wise men keep them (or but the lips of the wise keep them safe).

⁴ Where oxen be not, the cratch is void (or the stall is empty); but where full many corns appear, there the strength of the ox is made open.

⁵ A faithful witness shall not lie; a guileful witness bringeth forth a leasing (or a deceitful witness bringeth forth many lies).

⁶ A scorner seeketh wisdom, and he findeth it not, (or A mocker seeketh wisdom, but never findeth it); the teaching of prudent men is easy.

⁷ Go thou against a man a fool; and he shall not know the lips of prudence. (Go thou away from a foolish person; for he shall not speak words of understanding, that is, sensible words.)
