²⁴ The hand of the diligent shall bear rule; But the slothful shall be put under taskwork.

²⁵ Heaviness in the heart of a man maketh it stoop; But a good word maketh it glad.

²⁶ The righteous is a guide to his neighbor; But the way of the wicked causeth them to err.

²⁷ The slothful man roasteth not that which he took in hunting; But the precious substance of men is to the diligent.

²⁸ In the way of righteousness is life; And in the pathway thereof there is no death.

²⁴ The hand of chosen men shall easily obtain rule; but the deceitful shall be for a prey.

²⁵ A terrible word troubles the heart of a righteous man; but a good message rejoices him.

²⁶ A just arbitrator shall be his own friend; but mischief shall pursue sinners; and the way of ungodly men shall lead them astray.

²⁶ Godly/Righteous people try to give good advice to their friends (OR, try to make friends with others), but the manner in which wicked people live misleads their friends.

²⁷ Lazy people do not even cook the meat of the animals that they catch/kill, but those who work hard will acquire (OR, are like) a valuable treasure.

²⁸ Those who ◄live righteously/continually do what is right► are walking on the road to a long life; ◄it is not a road to death/they will not die when they are still young►.

²⁶ He that despiseth harm for a friend, is a just man; but the way of wicked men shall deceive them. (He who despiseth harm to a friend, is a righteous person; but the way of the wicked shall deceive them.)

²⁷ A guileful man shall not find winning; and the substance of (a diligent) man shall be (equal to) the price of gold, that is, preciouser than gold. (A deceitful, or a lazy, person shall not find winning; but the substance, or the reward, of a diligent person shall be equal to the price of gold, that is, shall be more precious than gold.)

²⁸ Life is in the path of rightwiseness (or Life is on the path of righteousness); but the wrong way leadeth to death.

²⁴ The hand of the diligent ruleth, And slothfulness becometh tributary.

²⁵ Sorrow in the heart of a man boweth down, And a good word maketh him glad.

²⁶ The righteous searcheth his companion, And the way of the wicked causeth them to err.

²⁷ The slothful roasteth not his hunting, And the wealth of a diligent man is precious.
