¹ A false balance is an abomination to Jehovah; But a just weight is his delight.

² When pride cometh, then cometh shame; But with the lowly is wisdom.

³ The integrity of the upright shall guide them; But the perverseness of the treacherous shall destroy them.

⁴ Riches profit not in the day of wrath; But righteousness delivereth from death.

⁵ The righteousness of the perfect shall direct his way; But the wicked shall fall by his own wickedness.

⁶ The righteousness of the upright shall deliver them; But the treacherous shall be taken in their own iniquity.

⁷ When a wicked man dieth, his expectation shall perish; And the hope of iniquity perisheth.

⁸ The righteous is delivered out of trouble; And the wicked cometh in his stead.

⁹ With his mouth the godless man destroyeth his neighbor; But through knowledge shall the righteous be delivered.

¹ Yahweh detests people who use scales that do not weigh correctly; he is delighted with those who use correct weights on the scales.

² People who are proud will eventually be disgraced; it is wise to be humble.

³ People who are good are guided by doing what is honest; those who are not honest will be ruined because of the wrong things that they do.

⁴ Your money will not help you on the day that God judges and punishes people; but if you live righteously, you will live a long time.

⁵ When people are honest and good, that will ◄direct their paths/show them what is right for them to do►; but wicked people will experience disasters because of the evil things that they do.

⁶ God rescues/protects righteous people because they ◄are honest/do what is right►, but those who ◄are treacherous/cannot be trusted► will be trapped because of their being greedy.

⁷ When wicked people die, they cannot confidently expect to receive anything that is good; they expect that their money will help/save them, but it will not.

⁸ Yahweh rescues righteous people from their troubles/difficulties; instead, it is the wicked who will have troubles.

⁹ Godless people can ruin others by what they say MTY, but righteous people will be saved by their ◄own good sense/being wise►.

¹⁰ When things go well for righteous people, the people in MTY their city are happy, and they shout joyfully when wicked people die.

¹¹ When righteous people request God to bless a city, that city will become great, but cities are ruined by what wicked people say MTY.

¹² It is foolish to despise others; those who ◄have good sense/are wise► do not say anything to criticize others.

⁷ At the death of an upright man his hope does not come to an end, but the hope of the evil-doer comes to destruction.

⁸ The upright man is taken out of trouble, and in his place comes the sinner.

⁹ With his mouth the evil man sends destruction on his neighbour; but through knowledge the upright are taken out of trouble.

¹⁰ When things go well for the upright man, all the town is glad; at the death of sinners, there are cries of joy.

¹¹ By the blessing of the upright man the town is made great, but it is overturned by the mouth of the evil-doer.

¹² He who has a poor opinion of his neighbour has no sense, but a wise man keeps quiet.

⁶ The justice of the righteous shall deliver them: and the unjust shall be caught in their own snares.

⁷ When the wicked man is dead, there shall be no hope any more: and the expectation of the solicitous shall perish.

⁸ The just is delivered out of distress: and the wicked shall be given up for him.

⁹ The dissembler with his mouth deceiveth his friend: but the just shall be delivered by knowledge.

¹⁰ When it goeth well with the just the city shall rejoice: and when the wicked perish there shall be praise.

¹¹ By the blessing of the just the city shall be exalted: and by the mouth of the wicked it shall be overthrown.

¹² He that despiseth his friend, is mean of heart: but the wise man will hold his peace.

¹ The Lord hates dishonest scales, but accurate weights please him.

³ Honesty guides the good, but deceit destroys liars.

¹⁰ The whole town celebrates when good people are successful; they also shout for joy when the wicked die.

¹¹ Ethical people are a blessing to a town, but what the wicked say destroys it.

¹² People who run down their neighbors have no sense; someone who's sensible keeps quiet.

¹⁰ In the prosperitie of the righteous the citie reioyceth, and when the wicked perish, there is ioye.

⁷ When a wicked man dies, his hope perishes and the hope that was in his strength comes to nothing.

⁸ The righteous person is kept away from trouble and it comes upon the wicked instead.

⁹ With his mouth the godless person destroys his neighbor, but through knowledge righteous people are kept safe.

⁷ When a wicked man is dead, none hope shall be further of him; and the abiding of busy men in evil shall perish. (When the wicked die, they shall have no further hope; and the abundance, or the wealth, of those busy with evil shall perish.)

⁸ A just man is delivered from anguish; and a wicked man shall be given for him. (The righteous person is delivered from all his anguish; and it is given to a wicked person instead.)
