1 Kings 7:13-20 in English

¹³ And king Solomon sent and fetched Hiram out of Tyre.

¹⁴ He was the son of a widow of the tribe of Naphtali, and his father was a man of Tyre, a worker in brass; and he was filled with wisdom and understanding and skill, to work all works in brass. And he came to king Solomon, and wrought all his work.

¹⁵ For he fashioned the two pillars of brass, eighteen cubits high apiece: and a line of twelve cubits compassed either of them about.

¹⁶ And he made two capitals of molten brass, to set upon the tops of the pillars: the height of the one capital was five cubits, and the height of the other capital was five cubits.

¹⁷ There were nets of checker-work, and wreaths of chain-work, for the capitals which were upon the top of the pillars; seven for the one capital, and seven for the other capital.

¹⁸ So he made the pillars; and there were two rows round about upon the one network, to cover the capitals that were upon the top of the pillars: and so did he for the other capital.

¹⁹ And the capitals that were upon the top of the pillars in the porch were of lily-work, four cubits.

²⁰ And there were capitals above also upon the two pillars, close by the belly which was beside the network: and the pomegranates were two hundred, in rows round about upon the other capital.

¹³ And there were twelve oxen under the sea; three looking to the north, and three looking to the west, and three looking to the south, and three looking to the east: and all their hinder parts were inward, and the sea was above upon them.

¹⁴ And he made ten brazen bases: five cubits was the length of one base, and four cubits the breadth of it, and its height was six cubits.

¹⁵ And this work of the bases was formed with a border to them, and there was a border between the ledges.

¹⁶ And upon their borders between the projections were lions, and oxen, and cherubs: and on the projections, even so above, and also below were the places of lions and oxen, hanging work.

¹⁷ And there were four brazen wheels to one base; and there were brazen bases, and their four sides answering to them, side pieces under the bases.

¹⁸ And there were axles in the wheels under the base. And the height of one wheel was a cubit and a half.

¹⁹ And the work of the wheels was as the work of chariot wheels: their axles, and their felloes, and the rest of their work, were all molten.

²⁰ The four side-pieces were at the four corners of each base; its shoulders were formed of the base.

¹³ And king Solomon sent and fetched Hiram out of Tyre.

¹⁵ And he cast the two pillars for the porch of the house: eighteen cubits was the height of each pillar, and a circumference of fourteen cubits encompassed it, even the thickness of the pillar: the flutings were four fingers wide, and thus was the other pillar formed.

¹⁶ And he made two molten chapiters to put on the heads of the pillars: five cubits was the height of one chapiter, and five cubits was the height of the other chapiter.

¹⁷ And he made two ornaments of network to cover the chapiters of the pillars; even a net for one chapiter, and a net for the other chapiter.

¹⁸ And hanging work, two rows of brazen pomegranates, formed with network, hanging work, row upon row: and thus he framed the ornaments for the second chapiter. And he set up the pillars of the porch of the temple: and he set up the one pillar, and called its name Jachum: and he set up the second pillar, and called its name Boloz.

¹⁹ And on the heads of the pillars he made lily-work against the porch, of four cubits,

²⁰ and a chamber over both the pillars, and above the sides an addition equal to the chamber in width.

¹³ And king Solomon sent and fetched Hiram out of Tyre.

¹³ There was a man who lived in Tyre city whose name was Huram. He knew how to make very nice things from bronze. His father had also lived in Tyre and had also been very skilled at making things from bronze, but Huram's father was no longer living. His mother was from the tribe of Naphtali. Huram was very wise and intelligent and was very skilled at making things from bronze. Solomon invited him to come to Jerusalem and supervise all the work of making things from bronze, and Huram agreed.

¹⁵ He made two bronze pillars. Each one was 27 feet tall and 18 feet around. Each was hollow, and the walls of the pillars were 3 in./7.4 cm. thick.

¹⁶ He also made two bronze caps to be put on top of the pillars. Each cap was 7-1/2 feet tall.

¹⁷ Then he made bronze wreaths of chains to decorate the top part of each pillar.

¹⁸ He also made bronze figures that resembled pomegranates. He put two rows of pomegranates over the top parts of each pillar.

¹⁹ The top part over each pillar was shaped like a lily. Each lily leaf was six feet tall.

²⁰ These top parts were placed on a bowl-shaped section around which was draped the wreaths of chains. He made 200 figures that represented pomegranates and put them in two rows around the top/head of each pillar.

¹³ And king Solomon sent, and took Chiram out of Tyre,

¹⁴ the son of a widow woman; and he was of the tribe of Nephthalim, and his father was a Tyrian; a worker in brass, and accomplished in are and skill and knowledge to work every work in brass: and he was brought in to king Solomon, and he wrought all the works.

¹⁵ He it was who made the two brass pillars; the first pillar was eighteen cubits high, and a line of twelve cubits went round it; and the second was the same.

¹⁶ And he made the two crowns to be put on the tops of the pillars, of brass made soft in the fire; the crowns were five cubits high.

¹⁷ There were nets of open-work for the crowns on the tops of the pillars, a net of open-work for one and a net of open-work for the other.

¹⁸ And he made ornaments of apples; and two lines of apples all round over the network, covering the crowns of the pillars, the two crowns in the same way.

¹⁹ The crowns on the tops of the pillars were ornamented with a design of flowers, and were four cubits across.

²⁰ And there were crowns on the two pillars near the round part by the network, and there were two hundred apples in lines round every crown.

¹³ And king Solomon sent and fetched Hiram out of Tyre.

¹⁹ And the capitals that were upon the top of the pillars were of lily-work as in the porch, four cubits.

²⁰ And the capitals upon the two pillars, above also, close to the enlargement which was behind the network, had two hundred pomegranates in rows round about, also on the other capital.

¹³ And king Solomon sent, and brought Hiram from Tyre,

¹⁵ And he cast two pillars in brass, each pillar was eighteen cubits high: and a line of twelve cubits compassed both the pillars.

¹⁶ He made also two chapiters of molten brass, to be set upon the tops of the pillars: the height of one chapiter was five cubits, and the height of the other chapiter was five cubits:

¹⁷ And a kind of network, and chain work wreathed together with wonderful art. Both the chapiters of the pillars were cast: seven rows of nets were on one chapiter, and seven nets on the other chapiter.

¹⁸ And he made the pillars, and two rows round about each network to cover the chapiters, that were upon the top, with pomegranates: and in like manner did he to the other chapiter.

¹⁹ And the chapiters that were upon the top of the pillars, were of lily work in the porch, of four cubits.

²⁰ And again other chapiters in the top of the pillars above, according to the measure of the pillar over against the network: and of pomegranates there were two hundred in rows round about the other chapiter.

¹³ King Solomon sent for Hiram from Tyre.

¹⁴ He was the son of a widow from the tribe of Naphtali, and his father was from Tyre, a craftsman who worked in bronze. Hiram had great expertise, understanding and being familiar with all kinds of bronze work. He came to King Solomon and carried out all that the king required.

¹⁵ He cast two columns in bronze. They were both eighteen cubits high and twelve cubits in circumference.

¹⁶ He also cast two capitals in bronze to place on top of the columns. Each capital was five cubits high.

¹⁷ He made a network of lattice of interlinked chains for both capitals, seven for each one.

¹⁸ Around the lattice network he made two rows of ornamental pomegranates to cover the capitals on the top of both the columns.

¹⁹ The capitals placed on top of columns in the porch were in the shape of lilies, four cubits high.

²⁰ On the capitals of both columns were the two hundred pomegranates in rows that encircled them, just above the rounded part that was next to the chain network.

¹³ Then King Salomon sent, and set one Hiram out of Tyrus.

¹⁴ He was a widowes sonne of the tribe of Naphtali, his father being a man of Tyrus, and wrought in brasse: he was full of wisedome, and vnderstanding, and knowledge to worke all maner of worke in brasse: who came to King Salomon, and wrought all his worke.

¹⁵ For he cast two pillars of brasse: ye height of a pillar was eighteene cubites, and a threede of twelue cubites did compasse either of ye pillars.

¹⁶ And he made two chapiters of molten brasse to set on the tops of the pillars: the height of one of the chapiters was fiue cubites, and the height of the other chapiter was fiue cubites.

¹⁷ He made grates like networke, and wrethen worke like chaynes for the chapiters that were on the top of the pillars, euen seuen for the one chapiter, and seuen for the other chapiter.

¹⁸ So he made the pillars and two rowes of pomegranates round about in the one grate to couer the chapiters that were vpon the top. And thus did he for the other chapiter.

¹⁹ And the chapiters that were on the toppe of the pillars were after lilye worke in ye porch, foure cubites.

²⁰ And the chapiters vpon the two pillars had also aboue, ouer against the belly within the networke pomegranates: for two hudreth pomegranates were in the two rankes about vpon either of the chapiters.

¹³ And king Solomon sent and fetched Hiram out of Tyre.

¹⁶ And he made two capitals, to set upon the tops of the pillars, of molten copper; five cubits was the height of the one capital, and five cubits was the height of the other capital;

¹⁷ And nets of checker-work, and wreaths of chain-work, for the capitals which were upon the top of the pillars; seven for the one capital, and seven for the other capital.

¹⁸ And he made the pillars, so that two rows of pomegranates were round about upon the one net-work, to cover the capitals that were upon the top: and the same he made for the other capital.

¹⁹ And the capitals, that were upon the top of the pillars, furnished with lily-work, as those in the porch, were four cubits.

²⁰ And the capitals upon the two pillars rose also above, close by the rounding which was on the side of the network: and the pomegranates were two hundred, in rows round about, upon either capital.

¹⁴ Huram was the son of a widow of the tribe of Naphtali; his father was a man of Tyre, a craftsman in bronze. Huram was filled with wisdom and understanding and skill to do great work with bronze. He came to King Solomon to work with bronze for the king.

¹⁵ Huram fashioned the two pillars of bronze, each eighteen cubits high and twelve cubits in circumference.

¹⁶ He made two capitals of polished bronze to set on the tops of the pillars. The height of each capital was five cubits.

¹⁷ Checker latticework and wreaths of chain work for the capitals decorated the top of the pillars, seven for each capital.

¹⁸ So Huram made two rows of pomegranates around the top of each pillar to decorate their capitals.

¹⁹ The capitals on the tops of the portico pillars were decorated with lilies, four cubits high.

²⁰ The capitals on these two pillars also included, close to their very top, two hundred pomegranates in rows all around.

¹³ King Solomon sent and brought Hiram out of Tyre.

¹³ And king Solomon sent and brought Hiram out of Tyre.

¹⁴ He was a widow's son of the tribe of Naphtali, and his father was a man of Tyre, a worker in brass: and he was filled with wisdom, and understanding, and ingenious to work all works in brass. And he came to king Solomon, and wrought all his work.

¹⁵ For he cast two pillars of brass, each of eighteen cubits high: and a line of twelve cubits did encompass each of them.

¹⁶ And he made two capitals of molten brass, to set upon the tops of the pillars: the hight of the one capital was five cubits, and the hight of the other capital was five cubits:

¹⁷ And nets of checker-work, and wreaths of chain-work, for the capitals which were upon the top of the pillars; seven for the one capital, and seven for the other capital.

¹⁸ And he made the pillars, and two rows around upon the one net-work, to cover the capitals that were upon the top, with pomegranates: and so he did for the other capital.

¹⁹ And the capitals that were upon the top of the pillars were of lily-work in the porch, four cubits.

²⁰ And the capitals upon the two pillars had pomegranates also above, over against the belly which was by the net-work: and the pomegranates were two hundred in rows around upon the other capital.

¹³ King Solomon sent and brought Hiram out of Tyre.

¹⁴ He was the son of a widow of the tribe of Naphtali, and his father was a man of Tyre, a worker in bronze; and he was filled with wisdom and understanding and skill to work all works in bronze. He came to king Solomon and performed all his work.

¹⁵ For he fashioned the two pillars of bronze, eighteen cubits high apiece; and a line of twelve cubits encircled either of them.

¹⁶ He made two capitals of molten bronze to set on the tops of the pillars. The height of the one capital was five cubits, and the height of the other capital was five cubits.

¹⁷ There were nets of checker work and wreaths of chain work for the capitals which were on the top of the pillars: seven for the one capital, and seven for the other capital.

¹⁸ So he made the pillars; and there were two rows of pomegranates around the one network, to cover the capitals that were on the top of the pillars; and he did so for the other capital.

¹⁹ The capitals that were on the top of the pillars in the porch were of lily work, four cubits.

²⁰ There were capitals above also on the two pillars, close by the belly which was beside the network. There were two hundred pomegranates in rows around the other capital.

¹⁴ the son of a woman widow, of the lineage of Naphtali, of the father of a man of Tyre, a craftsman of brass, and full of wisdom, and understanding, and doctrine, or teaching, to make all work of brass. And when he had come to king Solomon, he made all his work.

¹⁵ And he made two pillars of brass, one pillar of eighteen cubits of height; and a line of twelve cubits compassed ever either pillar.

¹⁶ Also he made two pommels or capitals, molten of brass, which were set or put on the heads of the pillars; one pommel of five cubits of height, and the tother pommel of five cubits of height;

¹⁷ and by the manner of a net, and of chains knit together to themselves, by wonderful work. Ever either pommel of the pillars was molten; seven works like nets of orders were in one pommel, and seven works like nets in the tother pommel.

¹⁸ And he made perfectly the pillars, and two orders about all the works like nets, that those or they should cover the pommels, which were upon the highness of the pomegranates; in the same manner he did also to the second pommel.

¹⁹ And the pommels, that were upon the heads of the pillars in the porch, were made as by work of lily, of four cubits;

²⁰ and again other pommels in the highness of the pillars above, by the measure of the pillar, set against the works like nets; and two hundred orders of pomegranates were in the compass of the second pommel.

¹³ Also king Solomon sent, and brought from Tyre, Hiram, (And King Solomon sent for, and brought there Hiram from Tyre,)

¹⁴ the son of a woman widow (or the son of a widow woman), of the lineage of Naphtali, of the father of a man of Tyre, a craftsman of brass, and full of wisdom, and understanding, and doctrine, or teaching, to make all work of brass. And when he had come to king Solomon, he made all his work.

¹⁵ And he made two pillars of brass, one pillar of eighteen cubits of height; and a line of twelve cubits compassed ever either pillar. (And he made two bronze pillars, each pillar eighteen cubits in height; and it took a cord twelve cubits long to go all around either pillar.)

¹⁶ Also he made two pommels, molten of brass, which were set on the heads of the pillars; one pommel of five cubits of height, and the tother pommel of five cubits of height; (And he cast two bronze capitals, which were set on the tops of the pillars; each capital was five cubits in height;)

¹⁷ and by the manner of a net, and of chains knit together to themselves, by wonderful work. Ever either pommel of the pillars was molten; seven works like nets of orders were in one pommel, and seven works like nets in the tother pommel. (and they were decorated with networks of chains knit together. Each capital for the pillars was cast; and seven rows of networks were on each capital.)

¹⁸ And he made perfectly the pillars, and two orders about all the works like nets, that those should cover the pommels, which were upon the highness of the pomegranates; in the same manner he did also to the second pommel. (And he finished the pillars, with two rows of pomegranates, all around the tops of the pillars, above the networks; he did this in the same manner for each of the capitals.)

¹⁹ And the pommels, that were upon the heads of the pillars in the porch, were made as by work of lily, of four cubits; (And the capitals, that were on the tops of the pillars in the vestibule, were shaped like lilies, four cubits in height;)

²⁰ and again other pommels in the highness of the pillars above, by the measure of the pillar, set against the works like nets; and two hundred orders of pomegranates were in the compass of the second pommel. (and on the capitals, on the tops of the two bronze pillars, above the networks, were two hundred pomegranates in two rows, around each capital.)

¹³ And king Solomon sendeth and taketh Hiram out of Tyre —

¹⁴ he is son of a woman, a widow, of the tribe of Naphtali, and his father a man of Tyre, a worker in brass, and he is filled with the wisdom and the understanding, and the knowledge to do all work in brass — and he cometh unto king Solomon, and doth all his work.

¹⁵ And he formeth the two pillars of brass; eighteen cubits is the height of the one pillar, and a cord of twelve cubits doth compass the second pillar.

¹⁶ And two chapiters he hath made to put on the tops of the pillars, cast in brass; five cubits the height of the one chapiter, and five cubits the height of the second chapiter.

¹⁷ Nets of net-work, wreaths of chain-work are for the chapiters that are on the top of the pillars, seven for the one chapiter, and seven for the second chapiter.

¹⁸ And he maketh the pillars, and two rows round about on the one net-work, to cover the chapiters that are on the top, with the pomegranates, and so he hath made for the second chapiter.

¹⁹ And the chapiters that are on the top of the pillars are of lily-work in the porch, four cubits;

²⁰ and the chapiters on the two pillars also above, over-against the protuberance that is beside the net; and the pomegranates are two hundred, in rows round about on the second chapiter.
