1 Kings 16:1-3 in English

¹ And the word of Jehovah came to Jehu the son of Hanani against Baasha, saying,

² Forasmuch as I exalted thee out of the dust, and made thee prince over my people Israel, and thou hast walked in the way of Jeroboam, and hast made my people Israel to sin, to provoke me to anger with their sins;

³ behold, I will utterly sweep away Baasha and his house; and I will make thy house like the house of Jeroboam the son of Nebat.

¹ And the word of the Lord came by the hand of Ju son of Anani to Baasa, saying,

² Forasmuch as I lifted thee up from the earth, and made thee ruler over my people Israel; and thou hast walked in the way of Jeroboam, and hast caused my people Israel to sin, to provoke me with their vanities;

³ Behold, I raise up enemies after Baasa, and after his house; and I will make thy house as the house of Jeroboam son of Nabat.

¹ Then the word of the LORD came to Jehu the son of Hanani against Baasha, saying,

² Forasmuch as I exalted thee out of the dust, and made thee prince over my people Israel; and thou hast walked in the way of Jeroboam, and hast made my people Israel to sin, to provoke me to anger with their sins;

³ Behold, I will take away the posterity of Baasha, and the posterity of his house; and will make thy house like the house of Jeroboam the son of Nebat.

¹ Then the word of the LORD came to Jehu the son of Hanani against Baasha, saying,

¹ During the time that Baasha was king of Israel, the prophet Jehu, Hanani's son, gave Baasha this message that he had received from Yahweh:

² “You were very insignificant/unimportant IDM when I caused you to become the ruler of my Israeli people. But you have caused me to become very angry by doing IDM the kinds of evil things that King Jeroboam did. You have also caused me to become angry by causing my people to sin.

³ So now I will get rid of you and your family MTY. I will do to you just like I did to Jeroboam and his family.

¹ And the word of the Lord came by the hand of Ju son of Anani to Baasa, saying,

² Forasmuch as I lifted you up from the earth, and made you ruler over my people Israel; and you have walked in the way of Jeroboam, and have caused my people Israel to sin, to provoke me with their vanities;

³ Behold, I raise up enemies after Baasa, and after his house; and I will make your house as the house of Jeroboam son of Nabat.

¹ Yahweh’s word came to Jehu the son of Hanani against Baasha, saying,

² “Because I exalted you out of the dust and made you prince over my people Israel, and you have walked in the way of Jeroboam and have made my people Israel to sin, to provoke me to anger with their sins,

³ behold, I will utterly sweep away Baasha and his house; and I will make your house like the house of Jeroboam the son of Nebat.

¹ Yahweh’s word came to Jehu the son of Hanani against Baasha, saying,

² “Because I exalted you out of the dust and made you prince over my people Israel, and you have walked in the way of Jeroboam and have made my people Israel to sin, to provoke me to anger with their sins,

³ behold, I will utterly sweep away Baasha and his house; and I will make your house like the house of Jeroboam the son of Nebat.

¹ The LORD’s word came to Jehu the son of Hanani against Baasha, saying,

² “Because I exalted you out of the dust and made you prince over my people Israel, and you have walked in the way of Jeroboam and have made my people Israel to sin, to provoke me to anger with their sins,

³ behold, I will utterly sweep away Baasha and his house; and I will make your house like the house of Jeroboam the son of Nebat.

¹ And the word of the Lord came to Jehu, son of Hanani, protesting against Baasha and saying,

² Because I took you up out of the dust, and made you ruler over my people Israel; and you have gone in the ways of Jeroboam, and made my people Israel do evil, moving me to wrath by their sins;

³ Truly, I will see that Baasha and all his family are completely brushed away; I will make your family like the family of Jeroboam, the son of Nebat.

¹ And the word of Jehovah came to Jehu the son of Hanani against Baasha, saying,

² Forasmuch as I exalted thee out of the dust, and made thee prince over my people Israel, and thou hast walked in the way of Jeroboam, and hast made my people Israel to sin, provoking me to anger with their sins;

³ behold, I will take away Baasha and his house, and will make thy house like the house of Jeroboam the son of Nebat.

¹ Then the word of the Lord came to Jehu the son of Hanani against Baasa, saying:

² Forasmuch as I have exalted thee out of the dust, and made thee prince over my people Israel, and thou hast walked in the way of Jeroboam, and hast made my people Israel to sin, to provoke me to anger with their sins:

³ Behold, I will cut down the posterity of Baasa, and the posterity of his house, and I will make thy house as the house of Jeroboam the son of Nabat.

¹ Then this message from the Lord came to the prophet Jehu, son of Hanani, condemning Baasha.

² “Even though I lifted you out of the dust to make you ruler over my people Israel, you have followed the way of Jeroboam and have made my people Israel sin, making me angry by their sins.

³ Now I'm going to destroy Baasha and his family. Baasha, I will make your family like that of Jeroboam, son of Nebat.

¹ Then the word of the Lord came to Iehu the sonne of Hanani against Baasha, saying,

² Forasmuch as I exalted thee out of the dust, and made thee captaine ouer my people Israel, and thou hast walked in the way of Ieroboam, and hast made my people Israel to sinne, to prouoke me with their sinnes,

³ Beholde, I will take away the posteritie of Baasha, and the posteritie of his house, and will make thine house like the house of Ieroboam the sonne of Nebat.

¹ And the word of the LORD came to Jehu the son of Hanani against Baasa, saying:

² 'Forasmuch as I exalted thee out of the dust, and made thee prince over My people Israel; and thou hast walked in the way of Jeroboam, and hast made My people Israel to sin, to provoke Me with their sins;

³ behold, I will utterly sweep away Baasa and his house; and I will make thy house like the house of Jeroboam the son of Nebat.

¹ Then the word of the Lord came to Jehu the son of Hanani against Baasha, saying,

² Forasmuch as I exalted thee out of the dust, and made thee prince over my people Israel; and thou hast walked in the way of Jeroboam, and hast made my people Israel to sin, to provoke me to anger with their sins;

³ behold, I will take away the posterity of Baasha, and the posterity of his house; and will make thy house like the house of Jeroboam the son of Nebat.

¹ Then came the word of the Lord to Jehu the son of Chanani against Ba'sha, saying,

² Forasmuch as I lifted thee up out of the dust, and I set thee as prince over my people Israel; and thou hast walked in the way of Jerobo'am, and hast induced my people Israel to sin, to provoke me to anger with their sins:

³ Behold, I will sweep out after Ba'sha, and after his house; and I will render thy house like the house of Jerobo'am the son of Nebat;

¹ And the word of the Lord came by the hand of Jehu son of Hanani to Baasha, saying,

² Forasmuch as I lifted thee up from the earth, and made thee ruler over my people Israel; and thou hast walked in the way of Jeroboam, and hast caused my people Israel to sin, to provoke me with their vanities;

³ Behold, I raise up enemies after Baasha, and after his house; and I will make thy house as the house of Jeroboam son of Nebat.

¹ The word of Yahweh came to Jehu son of Hanani against Baasha, saying,

² “Although I exalted you out of the dust and made you leader over my people Israel, you have walked in the way of Jeroboam and have made my people Israel to sin, so as to provoke me to anger with their sins.

³ See, I will completely sweep away Baasha and his family and I will make your family like the family of Jeroboam son of Nebat.

¹ Yahweh’s word came to Jehu the son of Hanani against Baasha, saying,

² “Because I exalted you out of the dust and made you prince over my people Israel, and you have walked in the way of Jeroboam and have made my people Israel to sin, to provoke me to anger with their sins,

³ behold, I will utterly sweep away Baasha and his house; and I will make your house like the house of Jeroboam the son of Nebat.

¹ The LORD’s word came to Jehu the son of Hanani against Baasha, saying,

³ behold, I will utterly sweep away Baasha and his house; and I will make your house like the house of Jeroboam the son of Nebat.

¹ Then the word of the LORD came to Jehu the son of Hanani against Baasha, saying,

² Forasmuch as I exalted thee from the dust, and made thee prince over my people Israel; and thou hast walked in the way of Jeroboam, and hast made my people Israel to sin, to provoke me to anger with their sins;

³ Behold, I will take away the posterity of Baasha, and the posterity of his house; and will make thy house like the house of Jeroboam the son of Nebat.

¹ The LORD’s word came to Jehu the son of Hanani against Baasha, saying,

² “Because I exalted you out of the dust and made you prince over my people Israel, and you have walked in the way of Jeroboam and have made my people Israel to sin, to provoke me to anger with their sins,

³ behold, I will utterly sweep away Baasha and his house; and I will make your house like the house of Jeroboam the son of Nebat.

¹ The LORD’s word came to Jehu the son of Hanani against Baasha, saying,

² “Because I exalted you out of the dust and made you prince over my people Israel, and you have walked in the way of Jeroboam and have made my people Israel to sin, to provoke me to anger with their sins,

³ behold, I will utterly sweep away Baasha and his house; and I will make your house like the house of Jeroboam the son of Nebat.

¹ Forsooth the word of the Lord was made to Jehu, the son of Hanani, against Baasha, and said,

² For that that I raised thee from dust, and setted or set thee duke on Israel, my people; soothly thou wentest in the way of Jeroboam, and thou hast made my people Israel to do sin, that thou shouldest stir me to ire, in the sins of them;

³ lo! I shall cut away the hinder things of Baasha, and the hinder things of his house, and I shall make thine house as the house of Jeroboam, the son of Nebat.

¹ Forsooth the word of the Lord was made to Jehu, the son of Hanani, against Baasha, and said,

² For that that I raised thee from dust, and setted thee duke on Israel, my people; soothly thou wentest in the way of Jeroboam, and thou hast made my people Israel to do sin, that thou shouldest stir me to ire, in the sins of them; (For though I raised thee up out of the dust, and made thee the leader of my people Israel; yet thou wentest in the way of Jeroboam, and thou hast made my people Israel to do sin, so that thou stirrest me to anger with their sins;)

³ lo! I shall cut away the hinder things of Baasha, and the hinder things of his house, and I shall make thine house as the house of Jeroboam, the son of Nebat. (behold! I shall cut away the posterity, or the descendants, of Baasha, and of his household, or of his family, and I shall make thy house like the house of Jeroboam, the son of Nebat.)

¹ And a word of Jehovah is unto Jehu son of Hanani, against Baasha, saying,

² 'Because that I have raised thee up out of the dust, and appoint thee leader over My people Israel, and thou walkest in the way of Jeroboam, and causest My people Israel to sin — to provoke Me to anger with their sins;

³ lo, I am putting away the posterity of Baasha, even the posterity of his house, and have given up thy house as the house of Jeroboam son of Nebat;
