¹⁵ And the princes of Issachar were with Deborah; As was Issachar, so was Barak; Into the valley they rushed forth at his feet. By the watercourses of Reuben There were great resolves of heart.

¹⁶ Why sattest thou among the sheepfolds, To hear the pipings for the flocks? At the watercourses of Reuben There were great searchings of heart.

¹⁷ Gilead abode beyond the Jordan: And Dan, why did he remain in ships? Asher sat still at the haven of the sea, And abode by his creeks.

¹⁸ Zebulun was a people that jeoparded their lives unto the death, And Naphtali, upon the high places of the field.

¹⁹ The kings came and fought; Then fought the kings of Canaan, In Taanach by the waters of Megiddo: They took no gain of money.

²⁰ The stars from heaven set themselves in array, they set themselves to fight with Sisara out of their paths.

²¹ The brook of Kison swept them away, the ancient brook, the brook Kison: my mighty soul will trample him down.

¹⁵ Leaders from the tribes descended from Issachar joined Barak and me. They followed Barak, rushing down into the valley. But men from the tribe descended from Reuben could not decide whether or not to join us.

¹⁶ Why did you men stay at your sheep pens, waiting to hear the shepherds whistle for their flocks of sheep to come to the pens? Men in the tribe descended from Reuben could not decide whether they would join us to fight our enemies, or not.

¹⁷ Similarly, the men living in the Gilead area stayed at home, east of the Jordan River. And the men from the tribe descended from Dan, why did they stay home? The tribe descended from Asher sat by the seashore. They stayed in their coves.

¹⁸ But men from the tribe descended from Zebulun risked ◄their lives/were ready to die fighting► on the battlefield, and men descended from Naphtali were ready to do that, also.

¹⁹ The kings of Canaan fought us at Taanach, near the springs in Megiddo Valley. But since they did not defeat us, they did not carry away any silver or other treasures from the battle.

²⁰ It was as though the stars in the sky fought for us and as though those stars in their paths fought against Sisera.

²¹ The Kishon River swept them away— that river that has been there for ages. I will tell myself to be brave and continue marching on.

¹⁷ Gilead was living over Jordan; and Dan was waiting in his ships; Asher kept in his place by the sea's edge, living by his inlets.

¹⁸ It was the people of Zebulun who put their lives in danger, even to death, with Naphtali on the high places of the field.

¹⁹ The kings came on to the fight, the kings of Canaan were warring; in Taanach by the waters of Megiddo: they took no profit in money.

²⁰ The stars from heaven were fighting; from their highways they were fighting against Sisera.

²¹ The river Kishon took them violently away, stopping their flight, the river Kishon. Give praise, O my soul, to the strength of the Lord!

¹⁵ The captains of Issachar were with Debbora, and followed the steps of Barac, who exposed himself to danger, as one going headlong, and into a pit. Ruben being divided against himself, there was found a strife of courageous men.

¹⁶ Why dwellest thou between two borders, that thou mayest hear the bleatings of the flocks? Ruben being divided against himself, there was found a strife of courageous men.

¹⁷ Galaad rested beyond the Jordan, and Dan applied himself to ships: Aser dwelt on the sea shore, and abode in the havens.

¹⁸ But Zabulon and Nephtali offered their lives to death in the region of Merome.

²⁰ War from heaven was made against them, the stars remaining in their order and courses fought against Sisara.

²¹ The torrent of Cison dragged their carcasses, the torrent of Cadumim, the torrent of Cisoii: tread thou, my soul, upon the strong ones.

¹⁵ The leaders of Issachar supported Deborah and Barak; they raced into the valley following Barak. But the tribe of Reuben was very undecided.

¹⁶ Why did you stay at home in the sheepfolds, listening to shepherds whistling for their flocks? The tribe of Reuben really couldn't decide what to do.

¹⁷ Gilead remained on the other side of Jordan. Dan stayed with his ships. Asher sat still on the seacoast, not moving from his ports.

¹⁸ The people of Zebulun risked their lives; as did Naphtali on the high battlefields.

¹⁹ Kings came and fought, the Canaanite kings fought at Taanach near the waters of Megiddo, but they didn't get any silver plunder.

²⁰ The stars fought from heaven. The stars in their courses fought against Sisera.

²¹ The Kishon River swept them away—the old river turned into a raging torrent! I bravely march on!

¹⁵ And the Princes of Issachar were with Deborah, and Issachar, and also Barak: he was set on his feete in the valley: for the diuisions of Reuben were great thoughts of heart.

²¹ The Riuer Kishon swepe them away, that ancient riuer the riuer Kishon. O my soule, thou hast marched valiantly.

¹⁷ Gil'ad abode beyond the Jordan; and Dan—why would he tarry in ships? Asher remained on the seashore, and abode near his bays.

¹⁸ Zebulun is a people that jeoparded its life unto death, and Naphtali—on the high places of the battle field.

¹⁹ There came kings, and fought, then fought the kings of Canaan, in Ta'anach by the waters of Megiddo: gain of money they took not away.

²⁰ From heaven they fought—the stars in their courses fought against Sissera.

²¹ The stream of Kishon swept them away, that ancient stream, the stream of Kishon: step along, O my soul, in victorious strength.

¹⁵ And princes in Issachar were with Deborah and Barak, Thus she sent Barak on his feet in the valleys Into the portions of Reuben; Great pangs reached to the heart.

¹⁸ Zebulun was a tribe who would risk their lives to the point of death, and Naphtali, also, on the field of battle.

¹⁹ The kings came, they fought; the kings of Canaan fought at Taanach by the waters of Megiddo. But they took away no silver as plunder.

²⁰ From heaven the stars fought, from their paths across the heavens they fought against Sisera.

¹⁶ Why dwellest thou betwixt twain ends, that thou hear the hissings of flocks? While Reuben was parted against himself, the strife of great hearted men was found.

¹⁷ Gilead rested beyond Jordan, and Dan gave attention to ships. Asher dwelled in the brink of the sea, and dwelled in havens.

¹⁸ And Zebulun and Naphtali offered their lives to the death, in the country of Meromei, that is interpreted, high.

¹⁹ Kings came, and fought; kings of Canaan fought in Taanach, beside the waters of Megiddo; and nevertheless they took nothing by prey.

²⁰ From heaven, it was fought against them; stars dwelled in their order, and in their course, and they fought against Sisera.

²¹ The strand or stream of Kishon drew their dead bodies, the strand or stream of Kedumim, the strand or stream of Kishon. My soul, tread thou strong men.

¹⁵ The dukes of Issachar were with Deborah, and followed the steps of Barak, that gave himself to peril, as into a ditch headlong, and into hell, (or like headlong into a ditch, and down into hell). (Yea), While Reuben was parted against himself; the strife of great hearted men was found.

¹⁶ Why dwellest thou betwixt twain ends (or Why stayest thou by the stalls), (so) that thou (mayest) hear the hissings of (the) flocks? (Yea), While Reuben was parted against himself, the strife of great hearted men was found.

¹⁷ Gilead rested beyond (the) Jordan, and Dan gave attention to ships. Asher dwelled in the brink of the sea, and dwelled in havens, (or Asher stayed by the seashore, and lived in safe coves).

¹⁸ And Zebulun and Naphtali offered their lives to the death, in the country of Meromei, that is interpreted, high. (And Zebulun and Naphtali offered their lives unto the death, in the high places of the countryside.)

¹⁹ Kings came, and fought; kings of Canaan fought in Taanach, beside the waters of Megiddo; and nevertheless they took nothing by prey (or but they took nothing of prey).
