⁴ And he said unto them, Thus and thus hath Micah dealt with me, and he hath hired me, and I am become his priest.

⁵ And they said unto him, Ask counsel, we pray thee, of God, that we may know whether our way which we go shall be prosperous.

⁶ And the priest said unto them, Go in peace: before Jehovah is your way wherein ye go.

⁷ Then the five men departed, and came to Laish, and saw the people that were therein, how they dwelt in security, after the manner of the Sidonians, quiet and secure; for there was none in the land, possessing authority, that might put them to shame in anything, and they were far from the Sidonians, and had no dealings with any man.

⁸ And they came unto their brethren to Zorah and Eshtaol: and their brethren said unto them, What say ye?

⁹ And they said, Arise, and let us go up against them; for we have seen the land, and, behold, it is very good: and are ye still? be not slothful to go and to enter in to possess the land.

¹⁰ When ye go, ye shall come unto a people secure, and the land is large; for God hath given it into your hand, a place where there is no want of anything that is in the earth.

¹¹ And there set forth from thence of the family of the Danites, out of Zorah and out of Eshtaol, six hundred men girt with weapons of war.

⁷ And the five men went on, and came to Laisa; and they saw the people in the midst of it dwelling securely, at ease as is the manner of the Sidonians, and there is no one perverting or shaming a matter in the land, no heir extorting treasures; and they are far from the Sidonians, and they have no intercourse with any one.

⁸ And the five men came to their brethren to Saraa and Esthaol, and said to their brethren, Why sit ye here idle?

⁹ And they said, Arise, and let us go up against them, for we have seen the land, and, behold, it is very good, yet ye are still: delay not to go, and to enter in to possess the land.

¹⁰ And whensoever ye shall go, ye shall come in upon a people secure, and the land is extensive, for God has given it into your hand; a place where there is no want of anything that the earth affords.

¹¹ And there departed thence of the families of Dan, from Saraa and from Esthaol, six hundred men, girded with weapons of war.

¹¹ And there set forth from thence of the family of the Danites, out of Zorah and out of Eshtaol, six hundred men girt with weapons of war.

⁴ He told them the things that Micah had done for him. And he said, “Micah ◄has hired me/is paying me to work for him►, and I have become his priest.”

⁵ So they said to him, “Please ask God if we will succeed in what we are trying to do on this journey.”

⁶ The young man replied, “Things will go well for you. Yahweh will go with you on this journey.”

⁷ The next day the five men left. When they came to Laish city, they saw that the people there lived safely, like the people in Sidon city did. The people there thought that they were safe/protected from any enemies, and they had plenty of good fertile land. They lived very far from the people of Sidon, so the people of Sidon would not be able to help defend/protect them. They had no other ◄allies/groups nearby that would help them in battles►.

⁸ When those five men returned to Zorah and Eshtaol, their relatives asked them “What did you find out?”

⁹ They replied, “We have found some land, and it is very good. We should go and attack the people who live there. Why are you staying here and doing nothing RHQ? Do not wait any longer! We should go immediately and take possession of that land!

¹⁰ When you go there, you will see that there is plenty of land, and it has everything that we will need. The people there are not expecting anyone to attack them. Surely God is giving that land to us.”

¹¹ So six hundred men from the tribe of Dan left Zorah and Eshtaol, carrying their weapons.

⁴ And he said to them, Thus and thus did Michaias to me, and he hired me, and I became his priest.

⁵ And they said to him, Enquire now of God, and we shall know whether our way will prosper, on which we are going.

⁵ Then they said, Do get directions from God for us, to see if the journey on which we are going will have a good outcome.

⁶ And the priest said to them, Go in peace: your way is guided by the Lord.

⁷ Then the five men went on their way and came to Laish and saw the people who were there, living without thought of danger, like the Zidonians, quiet and safe; for they had everything on earth for their needs, and they were far from the Zidonians and had no business with Aram.

⁸ So they came back to their brothers in Zorah and Eshtaol, and their brothers said to them, What news have you?

⁹ And they said, Up! and let us go against Laish; for we have seen the land, and it is very good: why are you doing nothing? Do not be slow to go in and take the land for your heritage.

¹⁰ When you come there you will come to a people living without thought of danger; and the land is wide, and God has given it into your hands: a place where there is everything on earth for man's needs.

¹¹ So six hundred men of the Danites from Zorah and Eshtaol went out armed with instruments of war.

⁴ And he said to them, Thus and thus has Micah done to me; and he has hired me, and I am his priest.

⁵ And they said to him, Inquire, we pray thee, of God, that we may know whether our way on which we go shall be prosperous.

⁶ And the priest said to them, Go in peace: before Jehovah is your way on which ye go.

⁷ And the five men departed, and came to Laish; and they saw the people that were therein, dwelling securely, after the manner of the Zidonians, quiet and secure; and no one was in the land who possessed authority, that might put them to shame in anything; and they were far from the Zidonians, and had nothing to do with any man.

⁸ — And they came to their brethren at Zoreah and Eshtaol. And their brethren said to them, What say ye?

⁹ And they said, Arise, and let us go up against them; for we have seen the land, and behold, it is very good; and ye are still! Be not slothful to go, to enter to take possession of the land.

¹⁰ When ye go in, ye shall come to a people secure, and the land is spacious in every direction; for God has given it into your hands; it is a place where there is no want of anything that is on the earth.

¹¹ And there went from thence of the family of the Danites, out of Zoreah and out of Eshtaol, six hundred men girded with weapons of war.

⁴ He answered them: Michas hath done such and such things for me, and hath hired me to be his priest.

⁵ Then they desired him to consult the Lord, that they might know whether their journey should be prosperous, and the thing should have effect.

⁶ He answered them: Go in peace, the Lord looketh on your way, and the journey that you go.

⁷ So the five men going on came to Lais: and they saw how the people dwelt therein without any fear, according to the custom of the Sidonians, secure and easy, having no man at all to oppose them, being very rich, and living separated, at a distance from Sidon and from all men.

⁸ And they returned to their brethren in Saraa and Esthaol, who asked them what they had done? to whom they answered:

⁹ Arise, and let us go up to them: for we have seen the land which is exceeding rich and fruitful: neglect not, lose no time: let us go and possess it, there will be no difficulty.

¹⁰ We shall come to a people that is secure, into a spacious country, and the Lord will deliver the place to us, in which there is no want of any thing that groweth on the earth.

¹¹ There went therefore of the kindred of Dan, to wit, from Saraa and Esthaol, six hundred men, furnished with arms for war,

⁴ “Micah arranged things for me, and he hired me as his priest,” he told them.

⁵ “Please ask the Lord for us so we can find out if our journey will be successful,” they asked him.

⁶ “Go in peace,” the priest replied. “The journey you are taking is being observed by the Lord.”

⁷ The five men left and went to the town of Laish. They observed that the people there lived in safety, and followed the customs of the Sidonians. The people were unsuspecting and confident of their security, at home in a productive land. They didn't have a strong ruler, they lived a long way from the Sidonians, and had no other allies to help them.

⁸ The men returned to Zorah and Eshtaol, their relatives asked them, “What did you…?”

⁹ “Come on, let's go and attack them!” the men interrupted. “We've surveyed the land, and it's excellent! Aren't you going to do something? Don't put off going there and occupying the land!

¹⁰ When you get there you'll find the people are unsuspecting and the land is extensive. God has given you a place where there's no shortage of anything!”

¹¹ So six hundred Danite armed men left Zorah and Eshtaol, ready to attack.

⁴ And he answered them, Thus and thus dealeth Michah with me, and hath hired me, and I am his Priest.

⁵ Againe they said vnto him, Aske counsell nowe of God, that we may knowe whether the way which we goe, shalbe prosperous.

⁶ And the Priest sayde vnto them, Goe in peace: for the Lord guideth your way which ye goe.

⁷ Then the fiue men departed and came to Laish, and sawe the people that were therein, which dwelt carelesse, after the maner of the Zidonians, quiet and sure, because no man made any trouble in the lande, or vsurped any dominion: also they were farre from the Zidonians, and had no businesse with other men.

⁸ So they came againe vnto their brethren to Zorah and Eshtaol: and their brethren saide vnto them, What haue ye done?

⁹ And they answered, Arise, that we may goe vp against them: for we haue seene the lande, and surely it is very good, and doe ye sit stil? be not slouthfull to goe and enter to possesse the lande:

¹⁰ (If ye will goe, ye shall come vnto a carelesse people, and the countrey is large) for God hath giuen it into your hande. It is a place which doeth lacke nothing that is in the worlde.

¹¹ Then there departed thence of the familie of the Danites, from Zorah and from Eshtaol, sixe hundreth men appointed with instruments of warre.

⁴ And he said unto them: 'Thus and thus hath Micah dealt with me, and he hath hired me, and I am become his priest.'

⁵ And they said unto him: 'Ask counsel, we pray thee, of God, that we may know whether our way which we are going shall be prosperous.'

⁶ And the priest said unto them: 'Go in peace; before the LORD is your way wherein ye go.'

⁸ And they came unto their brethren to Zor'ah and Eshtaol: and their brethren said unto them, What news bring ye?

⁹ And they said, Arise, and let us go up against them; for we have seen the land, and, behold, it is very good: and you keep still! be not slothful, to go, to enter to take possession of the land.

¹⁰ When ye enter, ye will come unto a secure people, and the land is roomy; for God hath given it into your hand; a place where there is no want of anything that is on the earth.

¹¹ And there went from there of the family of the Danites, out of Zor'ah and out of Eshtaol, six hundred men girded with weapons of war.

⁴ And he said to them, Thus and thus did Micah to me, and he hired me, and I became his priest.

⁵ And they said to him, Inquire now of God, and we shall know whether our way will prosper, on which we are going.

⁵ They said to him, “Please seek the advice of God, so we may know whether the journey we are going on will be successful.”

⁶ The priest said to them, “Go in peace. Yahweh will lead you in the way you should go.”

⁷ Then the five men left and came to Laish, and they saw that the people were living in safety, in the same way the Sidonians lived, undisturbed and secure. There was no one who conquered them or who oppressed them in any way in the land. They lived far away from the Sidonians and had no dealings with anyone.

⁸ They returned to their tribe in Zorah and Eshtaol. Their relatives asked them, “What is your report?”

⁹ They said, “Come! Let us attack them! We have seen the land and it is very good. Are you doing nothing? Do not be slow to attack and conquer the land.

¹⁰ When you go, you will come to a people who think they are secure, and the land is wide! God has given it to you—a place that does not lack anything in the land.”

¹¹ Six hundred men of the tribe of Dan, armed with weapons of war, set out from Zorah and Eshtaol.

⁴ He said to them, “Thus and thus has Micah dealt with me, and he has hired me, and I have become his priest.”

⁵ They said to him, “Please ask counsel of God, that we may know whether our way which we go shall be prosperous.”

⁶ The priest said to them, “Go in peace. Your way in which you go is before Yahweh.”

⁷ Then the five men departed, and came to Laish, and saw the people that were in it, how they dwelt careless, after the manner of the Zidonians, quiet and secure; and there was no magistrate in the land, that might put them to shame in any thing; and they were far from the Zidonians, and had no business with any man.

⁸ And they came to their brethren to Zorah and Eshtaol: and their brethren said to them, What say ye?

⁹ And they said, Arise, that we may go up against them: for we have seen the land, and behold, it is very good: and are ye still? be not slothful to go, and to enter to possess the land.

¹⁰ When ye go, ye shall come to a people secure, and to a large land: for God hath given it into your hands; a place where there is no want of any thing that is on the earth.

¹¹ And there went from thence of the family of the Danites, out of Zorah and out of Eshtaol, six hundred men appointed with weapons of war.

⁴ He said to them, “Thus and thus has Micah dealt with me, and he has hired me, and I have become his priest.”

⁵ They said to him, “Please ask counsel of God, that we may know whether our way which we go shall be prosperous.”

⁶ The priest said to them, “Go in peace. Your way in which you go is before the LORD.”

⁸ They came to their brothers at Zorah and Eshtaol; and their brothers asked them, “What do you say?”

⁹ They said, “Arise, and let’s go up against them; for we have seen the land, and behold, it is very good. Do you stand still? Don’t be slothful to go and to enter in to possess the land.

¹⁰ When you go, you will come to an unsuspecting people, and the land is large; for God has given it into your hand, a place where there is no lack of anything that is in the earth.”

¹¹ The family of the Danites set out from Zorah and Eshtaol with six hundred men armed with weapons of war.

⁷ Then those five men went forth, and came to Laish; and they saw the people dwelling therein without any dread, by the custom of Sidonians, secure and restful, for no man utterly against-stood them, and they were full rich, and dwelled far from Sidon, and were parted from all men.

⁸ And they turned again to their brethren in Zorah and Eshtaol; and they answered to brethren, asking what they had done,

⁹ and said, Rise ye, and go we up to them of Laish, for we have seen the land full rich and plenteous; do not ye be negligent, do not ye cease, go we forth, and have we it into possession;

¹⁰ no travail shall be to us; we shall enter to secure men, into a full large country; and the Lord shall betake to us a place, wherein is not poverty of anything of those things that be brought forth in the earth.

¹¹ Therefore six hundred men girded with arms of battle went forth of the kindred of Dan, that is, from Zorah and Eshtaol.

⁴ The which answered, Micah hath given to me these things and these, and he hath hired me for meed, that I be priest to him. (And he answered, Micah hath given these things, and other things to me, and he hath hired me for money, to be his priest.)

⁵ And they prayed him, that he should counsel with the Lord, and that they might know (or so that they could know), whether they went in the way of prosperity, and that the thing of their purpose should have effect.

⁶ Which answered to them, Go ye with peace, the Lord beholdeth your way, and the journey whither ye go. (And he answered to them, Go ye in peace, the Lord watcheth over your way, and the journey on which ye go or and where ye go on the journey.)

⁷ Then those five men went forth, and came to Laish; and they saw the people dwelling therein without any dread, by the custom of Sidonians, secure and restful, for no man utterly against-stood them, and they were full rich, and dwelled far from Sidon, and were parted from all men. (Then those five men went forth, and came to Laish; and they saw the people living there without any fear, by the custom of the Sidonians, secure and at rest, for there was utterly no one who stood against them, and they were very rich, and lived far away from Sidon, and were separated from all people.)

⁸ And they turned again to their brethren in Zorah and Eshtaol; and they answered to (their) brethren, asking what they had done, (And they returned to their kinsmen in Zorah and Eshtaol; and they answered to their kinsmen, who were asking what they had done,)

⁹ and said, Rise ye, and go we up to them of Laish, for we have seen the land full rich and plenteous; do not ye be negligent, do not ye cease, (but) go we forth, and have we it into possession (or and let us take the land);

¹⁰ no travail shall be to us; we shall enter to secure men, into a full large country; and the Lord shall betake to us a place, wherein is not poverty of anything of those things that be brought forth in (all) the earth. (it shall not be any great effort for us; for we shall go to a people who be very complacent and naive, and into a very large country; and the Lord shall deliver a place to us, where nothing is lacking of anything, of that which be brought forth in all the earth.)

¹¹ Therefore six hundred men girded with armours of battle went forth of the kindred of Dan, that is, from Zorah and Eshtaol. (And so six hundred men of the Danites, girded with arms, or with weapons, for battle, went forth from Zorah and Eshtaol.)

⁴ And he saith unto them, 'Thus and thus hath Micah done to me; and he hireth me, and I am to him for a priest.'

⁵ And they say to him, 'Ask, we pray thee, at God, and we know whether our way is prosperous on which we are going.'

⁶ And the priest saith to them, 'Go in peace; over-against Jehovah is your way in which ye go.'

⁷ And the five men go, and come in to Laish, and see the people which is in its midst, dwelling confidently, according to the custom of Zidonians, quiet and confident; and there is none putting to shame in the land in any thing, possessing restraint, and they are far off from the Zidonians, and have no word with any man.

⁸ And they come in unto their brethren, at Zorah and Eshtaol, and their brethren say to them, 'What — ye?'

⁹ And they say, 'Rise, and we go up against them, for we have seen the land, and lo, very good; and ye are keeping silent! be not slothful to go — to enter to possess the land.

¹⁰ When ye go, ye come in unto a people confident, and the land is large on both hands, for God hath given it into your hand, a place where there is no lack of anything which is in the land.'

¹¹ And there journey thence, of the family of the Danite, from Zorah, and from Eshtaol, six hundred men girded with weapons of war.
