⁹ And the children of Ammon passed over the Jordan to fight also against Judah, and against Benjamin, and against the house of Ephraim; so that Israel was sore distressed.

¹⁰ And the children of Israel cried unto Jehovah, saying, We have sinned against thee, even because we have forsaken our God, and have served the Baalim.

¹¹ And Jehovah said unto the children of Israel, Did not I save you from the Egyptians, and from the Amorites, from the children of Ammon, and from the Philistines?

¹² The Sidonians also, and the Amalekites, and the Maonites, did oppress you; and ye cried unto me, and I saved you out of their hand.

¹³ Yet ye have forsaken me, and served other gods: wherefore I will save you no more.

¹⁴ Go and cry unto the gods which ye have chosen; let them save you in the time of your distress.

¹⁵ And the children of Israel said unto Jehovah, We have sinned: do thou unto us whatsoever seemeth good unto thee; only deliver us, we pray thee, this day.

¹⁶ And they put away the foreign gods from among them, and served Jehovah; and his soul was grieved for the misery of Israel.

¹⁷ Then the children of Ammon were gathered together, and encamped in Gilead. And the children of Israel assembled themselves together, and encamped in Mizpah.

¹⁸ And the people, the princes of Gilead, said one to another, What man is he that will begin to fight against the children of Ammon? he shall be head over all the inhabitants of Gilead.

⁹ And the children of Ammon went over Jordan to fight with Juda, and Benjamin, and with Ephraim; and the children of Israel were greatly afflicted.

¹⁰ And the children of Israel cried to the Lord, saying, We have sinned against thee, because we have forsaken God, and served Baalim.

¹¹ And the Lord said to the children of Israel, Did I not save you from Egypt and from the Amorite, and from the children of Ammon, and from the Phylistines,

¹² and from the Sidonians, and Amalec, and Madiam, who afflicted you? and ye cried to me, and I saved you out of their hand?

¹³ Yet ye forsook me and served other gods; therefore I will not save you any more.

¹⁴ Go, and cry to the gods whom ye have chosen to yourselves, and let them save you in the time of your affliction.

¹⁵ And the children of Israel said to the Lord, We have sinned: do thou to us according to all that is good in thine eyes; only deliver us this day.

¹⁶ And they put away the strange gods from the midst of them, and served the Lord only, and his soul was pained for the trouble of Israel.

¹⁷ And the children of Ammon went up, and encamped in Galaad; and the children of Israel were gathered together and encamped on the hill.

¹⁸ And the people the princes of Galaad said every man to his neighbour, Who is he that shall begin to fight against the children of Ammon? he shall even be head over all that dwell in Galaad.

⁹ Then the people of the Ammon people-group crossed the Jordan River to fight against the people of the tribes of Judah, Benjamin, and Ephraim. They caused the Israelis' lives to be very miserable.

¹⁰ So the Israelis cried out to Yahweh, saying “We have sinned against you. We have abandoned you, and we have been worshiping the idols of their god Baal.”

¹¹ Yahweh answered them, saying, “When the people of Egypt, and the Amor and Ammon and Philistia people-groups

¹² and the Sidon and Amalek and Maon people-groups were cruel to you, you cried out to me, and then I rescued you.

¹³ But now you have abandoned me again, and you have been worshiping other gods. So I will not rescue you again.

¹⁴ You have chosen those gods to be the ones that you worship. So call to them to help you. Allow them to rescue you when you have a lot of trouble!”

¹⁵ But the Israeli people said to Yahweh, “Truly we have sinned. Punish us in whatever way you wish to, but please rescue us now!”

¹⁶ Then the Israelis threw away the idols of the gods that belonged to other people-groups, and they worshiped Yahweh again. He saw that they were suffering very much, and he felt sorry IDM for them.

¹⁷ The Ammon people-group gathered to fight against the Israelis, and they set up their tents in the Gilead region. The Israeli men also gathered and set up their tents at Mizpah, which was a city in Gilead.

¹⁸ The Israeli leaders said, “Who will lead our soldiers to attack the Ammon people-group? The one who will lead us will become the leader of all us who live in this Gilead region.”

⁹ And the children of Ammon went over Jordan to fight with Juda, and Benjamin, and with Ephraim; and the children of Israel were greatly afflicted.

¹⁰ Then the children of Israel, crying out to the Lord, said, Great is our sin against you, for we have given up our God and have been servants to the Baals.

¹¹ And the Lord said to the children of Israel, Were not the Egyptians and the Amorites and the children of Ammon and the Philistines

¹² And the Zidonians and Amalek and Midian crushing you down, and in answer to your cry did I not give you salvation from their hands?

¹³ But, for all this, you have given me up and have been servants to other gods: so I will be your saviour no longer.

¹⁴ Go, send up your cry for help to the gods of your selection; let them be your saviours in the time of your trouble.

¹⁵ And the children of Israel said to the Lord, We are sinners; do to us whatever seems good to you: only give us salvation this day.

¹⁶ So they put away the strange gods from among them, and became the Lord's servants; and his soul was angry because of the sorrows of Israel.

¹⁷ Then the children of Ammon came together and put their army in position in Gilead. And the children of Israel came together and put their army in position in Mizpah.

¹⁸ And the people of Israel said to one another, Who will be the first to make an attack on the children of Ammon? We will make him head over all Gilead.

⁹ And the children of Ammon passed over the Jordan to fight also against Judah, and against Benjamin, and against the house of Ephraim; and Israel was greatly distressed.

¹⁰ And the children of Israel cried to Jehovah, saying, We have sinned against thee, both because we have forsaken our God, and also served the Baals.

¹¹ And Jehovah said to the children of Israel, Did I not save you from the Egyptians, and from the Amorites, from the children of Ammon, and from the Philistines?

¹² The Zidonians also, and Amalek and Maon oppressed you, and ye cried to me, and I saved you out of their hand.

⁹ Insomuch that the children of Ammon passing over the Jordan, wasted Juda and Benjamin and Ephraim: and Israel was distressed exceedingly.

¹⁰ And they cried to the Lord, and said: We have sinned against thee, because we have forsaken the Lord our God, and have served Baalim.

¹¹ And the Lord said to them: Did not the Egyptians and the Amorrhites, and the children of Ammon and the Philistines,

¹² The Sidonians also and Amalec and Chanaan oppress you, and you cried to me, and I delivered you out of their hand?

¹³ And yet you have forsaken me, and have worshipped strange gods: therefore I will deliver you no more:

¹⁴ Go and call upon the gods which you have chosen: let them deliver you in the time of distress.

¹⁵ And the children of Israel said to the Lord: We have sinned, do thou unto us whatsoever pleaseth thee: only deliver us this time.

¹⁶ And saying these things, they cast away out of their coasts all the idols of strange gods and served the Lord their God: and he was touched with their miseries.

¹⁷ And the children of Ammon shouting together, pitched their tents in Galaad: against whom the children of Israel assembled themselves together and camped in Maspha.

¹⁸ And the princes of Galaad said one to another: Whosoever of us shall first begin to fight against the children of Ammon, he shall be the leader of the people of Galaad.

⁹ The Ammonites also crossed the Jordan to attack Judah, Benjamin, and Ephraim, causing terrible trouble for Israel.

¹⁰ The Israelites cried out to the Lord for help, saying, “We have sinned against you, rejecting our God and worshiping the Baals.”

¹¹ The Lord replied to the Israelites, “Didn't I save you from the Egyptians, the Amorites, the Ammonites, the Philistines,

¹² the Sidonians, the Amalekites, and the Maonites? When they attacked you, and you cried out to me for help, didn't I save you from them?

¹³ But you have rejected me and worshiped other gods, so I won't save you again.

¹⁴ Go and cry out for help to the gods you have chosen. Let them save you in your time of trouble.”

¹⁵ The Israelites said to the Lord, “We have sinned! Treat us in whatever way you think you should, only please save us now!”

¹⁶ So they got rid of the foreign gods they had and worshiped the Lord. And the Lord couldn't stand Israel's misery any longer.

¹⁷ The Ammonite armies had been called up and were camped in Gilead. The Israelites assembled and camped at Mizpah.

¹⁸ The commanders of the people of Gilead agreed among themselves, “Whoever leads the attack on the Ammonites will become ruler over everyone who lives in Gilead.”

⁹ Moreouer, the children of Ammon went ouer Iorden to fight against Iudah, and against Beniamin, and against the house of Ephraim: so that Israel was sore tormented.

¹⁰ Then the children of Israel cryed vnto the Lord, saying, We haue sinned against thee, euen because we haue forsaken our owne God, and haue serued Baalim.

¹¹ And the Lord sayd vnto the children of Israel, Did not I deliuer you from the Egyptians and from the Amorites, from the children of Ammon and from the Philistims?

¹² The Zidonians also, and the Amalekites, and the Maonites did oppresse you, and ye cryed to me and I saued you out of their hands.

¹³ Yet ye haue forsaken me, and serued other gods: wherefore I will deliuer you no more.

¹⁴ Goe, and cry vnto the gods which ye haue chosen: let them saue you in the time of your tribulation.

¹⁵ And the children of Israel sayde vnto the Lord, We haue sinned: doe thou vnto vs whatsoeuer please thee: onely we pray thee to deliuer vs this day.

¹⁶ Then they put away the strange gods from among them and serued the Lord: and his soule was grieued for the miserie of Israel.

¹⁷ Then the children of Ammon gathered themselues together, and pitched in Gilead: and the children of Israel assembled themselues, and pitched in Mizpeh.

¹⁸ And the people and princes of Gilead said one to another, Whosoeuer will beginne the battell against the children of Ammon, the same shall be head ouer all the inhabitants of Gilead.

¹² And when the Zidonians, and the 'Amalekites, and the Ma'onites did oppress you, and ye cried to me, I delivered you also out of their hand.

¹³ And yet ye have forsaken me, and served other gods; wherefore I will deliver you no more.

¹⁴ Go and cry unto the gods which ye have chosen; let these deliver you in the time of your tribulation.

¹⁷ And the children of 'Ammon were called together, and they encamped in Gil'ad. And the children of Israel also assembled themselves together, and encamped in Mizpah.

¹⁸ And the people, the princes of Gil'ad, said one to another, Whatever man it be that will begin to fight against the children of 'Ammon, shall become the head over all the inhabitants of Gil'ad.

⁹ And the children of Ammon went over Jordan to fight with Judah, and Benjamin, and with Ephraim; and the children of Israel were greatly afflicted.

¹⁰ And the children of Israel cried to the Lord, saying, We have sinned against thee, because we have forsaken God, and served Baalim.

¹¹ And the Lord said to the children of Israel, Did I not save you from Egypt and from the Amorite, and from the children of Ammon, and from the Philistines,

¹² and from the Sidonians, and Amalek, and Midian, who afflicted you? and ye cried to me, and I saved you out of their hand?

¹³ Yet ye forsook me and served other gods; therefore I will not save you anymore.

¹⁴ Go, and cry to the gods whom ye have chosen to yourselves, and let them save you in the time of your affliction.

¹⁵ And the children of Israel said to the Lord, We have sinned: do thou to us according to all that is good in thine eyes; only deliver us this day.

¹⁶ And they put away the strange gods from the midst of them, and served the Lord only, and his soul was pained for the trouble of Israel.

¹⁷ And the children of Ammon went up, and encamped in Gilead; and the children of Israel were gathered together and encamped on the hill.

¹⁸ And the people the princes of Gilead said every man to his neighbor, Who is he that shall begin to fight against the children of Ammon? he shall even be head over all that dwell in Gilead.

⁹ Then the Ammonites crossed over the Jordan to fight against Judah, against Benjamin, and against the house of Ephraim, so that Israel was greatly distressed.

¹⁰ Then the people of Israel called out to Yahweh, saying, “We have sinned against you, because we abandoned our God and worshiped the Baals.”

¹¹ Yahweh said to the people of Israel, “Did I not deliver you from the Egyptians, the Amorites, the Ammonites, the Philistines,

¹² and also from the Sidonians? The Amalekites and the Maonites oppressed you; you called out to me, and I delivered you from their power.

¹³ Yet you abandoned me again and worshiped other gods. Therefore, I will not keep adding to the times I deliver you.

¹⁴ Go and call out to the gods that you have worshiped. Let them rescue you when you have trouble.”

¹⁵ The people of Israel said to Yahweh, “We have sinned. Do to us whatever seems good to you. Only please, rescue us this day.”

¹⁶ They got rid of the foreign gods among them and they worshiped Yahweh. Then Yahweh could bear Israel's misery no longer.

¹⁷ Then Ammonites gathered together and set up camp in Gilead. The Israelites came together and set up their camp at Mizpah.

¹⁸ The leaders of the people of Gilead said one to another, “Who is the man who will begin to fight the Ammonites? He will become the leader over all those who are living in Gilead.”

⁹ The children of Ammon passed over the Jordan to fight also against Judah, and against Benjamin, and against the house of Ephraim, so that Israel was very distressed.

¹⁰ The children of Israel cried to Yahweh, saying, “We have sinned against you, even because we have forsaken our God, and have served the Baals.”

¹¹ Yahweh said to the children of Israel, “Didn’t I save you from the Egyptians, and from the Amorites, from the children of Ammon, and from the Philistines?

¹² The Sidonians also, and the Amalekites, and the Maonites, oppressed you; and you cried to me, and I saved you out of their hand.

¹³ Yet you have forsaken me and served other gods. Therefore I will save you no more.

⁹ in so much that the sons of Ammon, when they had passed over Jordan, wasted Judah, and Benjamin, and Ephraim; and Israel was tormented greatly.

¹⁰ And they cried to the Lord, and said, We have sinned to thee, for we forsook our God, and served Baalim.

¹¹ To whom the Lord said, Whether not the Egyptians, and Amorites, and the sons of Ammon, and Philistines,

¹² and Sidonians, and Amalek, and Canaan or Maonites, have oppressed you, and ye cried to me, and I delivered you from their hands?

¹³ And nevertheless ye have forsaken me, and worshipped alien gods; there-fore I shall not add to, that I deliver you any more.

¹⁴ Go ye, and call the gods which ye have chosen; deliver they you in the time of anguish.

¹⁵ And the sons of Israel said to the Lord, We have sinned; yield thou to us whatever thing pleaseth to thee; only deliver us now.

¹⁶ And they said these things, and casted forth from their coasts all the idols of alien gods, and served the Lord; which had ruth, either compassion, on the wretchednesses of them.

¹⁷ And so the sons of Ammon cried together, each moving other to battle against Israel, and setted tents in Gilead, and the sons of Israel were gathered against them, and setted tents in Mizpeh.

¹⁸ And the princes of Gilead said each to his neighbours, He, that beginneth first of us to fight against the sons of Ammon, shall be duke of the people of Gilead.

⁹ in so much that the sons of Ammon, when they had passed over (the) Jordan, wasted Judah, and Benjamin, and Ephraim; and Israel was tormented greatly. (in so much that the Ammonites, when they had crossed over the Jordan River, attacked Judah, and Benjamin, and Ephraim; and so Israel was greatly tormented.)

¹⁰ And they cried to the Lord, and said, We have sinned to thee, for we forsook our God, and served Baalim. (And they cried to the Lord, and said, We have sinned against thee, for we deserted our God, and served the Baalim.)

¹¹ To whom the Lord said, Whether not the Egyptians, and Amorites, and the sons of Ammon, and Philistines,

¹² and Sidonians, and Amalek, and Canaan (or and Maonites), have (all) oppressed you, and ye cried to me, and I delivered you from their hands?

¹³ And nevertheless ye have forsaken me, and worshipped alien gods; therefore I shall not add to, that I deliver you any more (or and so I shall not do anything more to save you again).

¹⁴ Go ye, and call (on) the gods which ye have chosen; deliver they you in the time of anguish (or let them save you in your time of anguish).

¹⁵ And the sons of Israel said to the Lord, We have sinned; yield thou to us whatever thing pleaseth to thee; only deliver us now. (And the Israelites said to the Lord, We have sinned; yield thou to us later whatever pleaseth thee; but right now, please save us!)

¹⁶ And they said these things, and casted forth from their coasts all the idols of alien gods, and served the Lord; which had ruth, either compassion, on (all) the wretchednesses of them.

¹⁷ And so the sons of Ammon cried together, each moving (the) other to battle against Israel, and setted tents in Gilead, and the sons of Israel were gathered against them, and setted tents in Mizpeh. (But then the Ammonites cried together, each moving the other to battle against Israel, and pitched their tents at Gilead; and the Israelites gathered themselves together against them, and pitched their tents at Mizpeh.)

¹⁸ And the princes of Gilead said each to his neighbours, He, that beginneth first of us to fight against the sons of Ammon, shall be duke of the people of Gilead. (And the people and the rulers of Gilead said to each other, He of us who first beginneth to fight against the Ammonites, shall be the leader of all the people of Gilead.)

⁹ And the Bene-Ammon pass over the Jordan to fight also against Judah, and against Benjamin, and against the house of Ephraim, and Israel hath great distress.

¹⁰ And the sons of Israel cry unto Jehovah, saying, 'We have sinned against Thee, even because we have forsaken our God, and serve the Baalim.'

¹¹ And Jehovah saith unto the sons of Israel, 'Have I not saved you from the Egyptians, and from the Amorite, from the Bene-Ammon, and from the Philistines?

¹² And the Zidonians, and Amalek, and Maon have oppressed you, and ye cry unto Me, and I save you out of their hand;

¹³ and ye — ye have forsaken Me, and serve other gods, therefore I add not to save you.

¹⁴ Go and cry unto the gods on which ye have fixed; they — they save you in the time of your adversity.'

¹⁵ And the sons of Israel say unto Jehovah, 'We have sinned, do Thou to us according to all that is good in Thine eyes; only deliver us, we pray Thee, this day.'

¹⁶ And they turn aside the gods of the stranger out of their midst, and serve Jehovah, and His soul is grieved with the misery of Israel.

¹⁷ And the Bene-Ammon are called together, and encamp in Gilead, and the sons of Israel are gathered together, and encamp in Mizpah.

¹⁸ And the people — heads of Gilead — say one unto another, 'Who is the man that doth begin to fight against the Bene-Ammon? he is for head to all inhabitants of Gilead.'
