Joshua 9:2-4 in English

² that they gathered themselves together, to fight with Joshua and with Israel, with one accord.

³ But when the inhabitants of Gibeon heard what Joshua had done unto Jericho and to Ai,

⁴ they also did work wilily, and went and made as if they had been ambassadors, and took old sacks upon their asses, and wine-skins, old and rent and bound up,

² they came all together at the same time to make war against Joshua and Israel.

^2a Then Joshua built an altar to the Lord God of Israel in mount Gæbal,

^2b as Moses the servant of the Lord commanded the children of Israel, as it is written in the law of Moses, an altar of unhewn stones, on which iron had not been lifted up; and he offered there whole-burnt-offerings to the Lord, and a peace-offering.

^2c And Joshua wrote upon the stones a copy of the law, even the law of Moses, before the children of Israel.

^2d And all Israel, and their elders, and their judges, and their scribes, passed on one side and on the other before the ark; and the priests and the Levites took up the ark of the covenant of the Lord; and the stranger and the native were there, who were half of them near mount Garizin, and half near mount Gæbal, as Moses the servant of the Lord commanded at first, to bless the people.

^2e And afterwards Joshua read accordingly all the words of this law, the blessings and the curses, according to all things written in the law of Moses.

^2f There was not a word of all that Moses charged Joshua, which Joshua read not in the ears of all the assembly of the children of Israel, the men, and the women, and the children, and the strangers that joined themselves to Israel.

³ And the inhabitants of Gabaon heard of all that the Lord did to Jericho and Gai.

⁴ And they also wrought craftily, and they went and made provision and prepared themselves; and having taken old sacks on their shoulders, and old and rent and patched bottles of wine,

² That they gathered themselves together, to fight with Joshua and with Israel, with one accord.

³ And when the inhabitants of Gibeon heard what Joshua had done unto Jericho and to Ai,

² So they all gathered their armies to fight Joshua and the Israeli army.

³ When the people who lived in Gibeon city heard that Joshua's army had defeated the people of Jericho and Ai,

⁴ they decided to trick the Israelis. They gathered some old sacks and some old leather wine bags that had been mended after they were cracked, and they put these on the backs of their donkeys.

² they came all together at the same time to make war against Joshua and Israel.

³ And the inhabitants of Gabaon heard of all that the Lord did to Jericho and Gai.

⁴ And they also wrought craftily, and they went and made provision and prepared themselves; and having taken old sacks on their shoulders, and old and tore and patched bottles of wine,

² they gathered themselves together to fight with Joshua and with Israel, with one accord.

⁴ they also resorted to a ruse, and went and made as if they had been ambassadors, and took old sacks on their donkeys, and old, torn-up and bound up wine skins,

² they gathered themselves together to fight with Joshua and with Israel, with one accord.

³ But when the inhabitants of Gibeon heard what Joshua had done to Jericho and to Ai,

⁴ they also resorted to a ruse, and went and made as if they had been ambassadors, and took old sacks on their donkeys, and old, torn-up and bound up wine skins,

² they gathered themselves together to fight with Joshua and with Israel, with one accord.

³ But when the inhabitants of Gibeon heard what Joshua had done to Jericho and to Ai,

⁴ they also resorted to a ruse, and went and made as if they had been ambassadors, and took old sacks on their donkeys, and old, torn-up and bound up wine skins,

² Came together with one purpose, to make war against Joshua and Israel.

³ And the men of Gibeon, hearing what Joshua had done to Jericho and Ai,

⁴ Acting with deceit, got food together as if for a long journey; and took old food-bags for their asses, and old and cracked wine-skins kept together with cord;

² that they assembled together, to fight with Joshua and with Israel, with one accord.

³ And when the inhabitants of Gibeon heard what Joshua had done to Jericho and to Ai,

⁴ then they also acted with craft, and they went prepared as on a journey, and took old sacks upon their asses, and wine-flasks, old and rent and tied up;

² Gathered themselves together, to fight against Josue and Israel with one mind, and one resolution.

³ But they that dwelt in Gabaon, hearing all that Josue had done to Jericho and Hai:

⁴ Cunningly devising took for themselves provisions, laying old sacks upon their asses, and wine bottles rent and sewed up again,

² So they gathered to fight together as a united army against Joshua and the Israelites.

³ But when the people of Gibeon heard what Joshua had done to Jericho and Ai,

⁴ they decided on a cunning plan. They sent messengers to Joshua, their donkeys wearing worn-out saddles and carrying old wineskins that were torn and patched.

² They gathered themselues together, to fight against Ioshua, and against Israel with one accord.

³ But the inhabitants of Gibeon heard what Ioshua had done vnto Iericho, and to Ai.

⁴ And therefore they wrought craftily: for they went, and fayned themselues ambassadours, and tooke olde sackes vpon their asses, and olde bottels for wine, both rent and bound vp,

² that they gathered themselves together, to fight with Joshua and with Israel, with one accord.

³ But when the inhabitants of Gibeon heard what Joshua had done unto Jericho and to Ai,

⁴ they also did work wilily, and went and made as if they had been ambassadors, and took old sacks upon their asses, and wine skins, worn and rent and patched up;

² that they gathered themselves together, to fight with Joshua and with Israel, with one accord.

³ And when the inhabitants of Gibeon heard what Joshua had done unto Jericho and to Ai,

⁴ They also did work wilily, and went and feigned to be messengers, and took old sacks for their asses, and wine-bottles, old, and rent, and bound up;

² they came all together at the same time to make war against Joshua and Israel.

² they gathered themselves together to fight with Joshua and with Israel, with one accord.

³ But when the inhabitants of Gibeon heard what Joshua had done to Jericho and to Ai,

⁴ they also resorted to a ruse, and went and made as if they had been ambassadors, and took old sacks on their donkeys, and old, torn-up and bound up wine skins,

² were (all) gathered together to fight against Joshua and Israel, with one will, and with the same accord.

³ And they that dwelt in Gibeon, heard (of) all the things that Joshua had done to Jericho, and to Ai;

⁴ and they thought fellily, and took to themselves meats, and putted eld sackcloths on asses, and wine bottles broken, and sewed (up)/and patched, (and they thought out things craftily, and then took some food for themselves, and put old sackcloths upon their donkeys, and wine bottles that were broken and then sewed up, or patched,)

² that they gather themselves together to fight with Joshua, and with Israel — one mouth.

³ And the inhabitants of Gibeon have heard that which Joshua hath done to Jericho and to Ai,

⁴ and they work, even they, with subtilty, and go, and feign to be ambassadors, and take old sacks for their asses, and wine-bottles, old, and rent, and bound up,
