Joshua 6:1-3 in English

¹ Now Jericho was straitly shut up because of the children of Israel: none went out, and none came in.

² And Jehovah said unto Joshua, See, I have given into thy hand Jericho, and the king thereof, and the mighty men of valor.

³ And ye shall compass the city, all the men of war, going about the city once. Thus shalt thou do six days.

² And the Lord said to Joshua, Behold, I deliver Jericho into thy power, and its king in it, and its mighty men.

³ And do thou set the men of war round about it.

¹ Meanwhile, the guards of Jericho shut the gates of the city tightly, because they were afraid of the Israeli army. No one was allowed to go into the city or go out of it.

² Then Yahweh said to Joshua, “Listen to what I say! I am going to enable your army SYN to capture/conquer MTY Jericho and its king and its soldiers.

³ So your army must march around the city for six days, once each day.

² But the Lord told Joshua, “I'm handing over the city of Jericho to you, along with its king and its army of warriors.

² And the Lord saide vnto Ioshua, Behold, I haue giuen into thine hand Iericho and the King thereof, and the strong men of warre.

³ All ye therefore that be men of warre, shall compasse the citie, in going round about the citie once: thus shall you doe sixe dayes:

¹ Forsooth Jericho was (en)closed and warded, for the dread of the sons of Israel (or for fear of the Israelites), and no man durst enter, either go out.

² And the Lord said to Joshua, Lo! I have given into thine hands Jericho, and the king thereof, and all the strong men of it. (And the Lord said to Joshua, Behold! I have given Jericho into thy hands, and its king, and all the strong men there.)

³ All ye fighters, compass the city once by the day; so ye shall do in six days (or so ye shall do for six days).

¹ (And Jericho shutteth itself up, and is shut up, because of the presence of the sons of Israel — none going out, and none coming in;)

³ and ye have compassed the city — all the men of battle — going round the city once; thus thou dost six days;
