⁴ And the lot came out for the families of the Kohathites: and the children of Aaron the priest, who were of the Levites, had by lot out of the tribe of Judah, and out of the tribe of the Simeonites, and out of the tribe of Benjamin, thirteen cities.

⁵ And the rest of the children of Kohath had by lot out of the families of the tribe of Ephraim, and out of the tribe of Dan, and out of the half-tribe of Manasseh, ten cities.

⁶ And the children of Gershon had by lot out of the families of the tribe of Issachar, and out of the tribe of Asher, and out of the tribe of Naphtali, and out of the half-tribe of Manasseh in Bashan, thirteen cities.

⁷ The children of Merari according to their families had out of the tribe of Reuben, and out of the tribe of Gad, and out of the tribe of Zebulun, twelve cities.

⁸ And the children of Israel gave by lot unto the Levites these cities with their suburbs, as Jehovah commanded by Moses.

⁹ And they gave out of the tribe of the children of Judah, and out of the tribe of the children of Simeon, these cities which are here mentioned by name:

¹⁰ and they were for the children of Aaron, of the families of the Kohathites, who were of the children of Levi; for theirs was the first lot.

¹¹ And they gave them Kiriath-arba, which Arba was the father of Anak (the same is Hebron), in the hill-country of Judah, with the suburbs thereof round about it.

¹² But the fields of the city, and the villages thereof, gave they to Caleb the son of Jephunneh for his possession.

¹³ And unto the children of Aaron the priest they gave Hebron with its suburbs, the city of refuge for the manslayer, and Libnah with its suburbs,

¹⁴ and Jattir with its suburbs, and Eshtemoa with its suburbs,

¹⁵ and Holon with its suburbs, and Debir with its suburbs,

¹⁶ and Ain with its suburbs, and Juttah with its suburbs, and Beth-shemesh with its suburbs; nine cities out of those two tribes.

¹⁷ And out of the tribe of Benjamin, Gibeon with its suburbs, Geba with its suburbs,

¹⁸ Anathoth with its suburbs, and Almon with its suburbs; four cities.

¹⁹ All the cities of the children of Aaron, the priests, were thirteen cities with their suburbs.

²⁰ And the families of the children of Kohath, the Levites, even the rest of the children of Kohath, they had the cities of their lot out of the tribe of Ephraim.

²¹ And they gave them Shechem with its suburbs in the hill-country of Ephraim, the city of refuge for the manslayer, and Gezer with its suburbs,

²² and Kibzaim with its suburbs, and Beth-horon with its suburbs; four cities.

²³ And out of the tribe of Dan, Elteke with its suburbs, Gibbethon with its suburbs,

²⁴ Aijalon with its suburbs, Gath-rimmon with its suburbs; four cities.

²⁵ And out of the half-tribe of Manasseh, Taanach with its suburbs, and Gath-rimmon with its suburbs; two cities.

²⁶ All the cities of the families of the rest of the children of Kohath were ten with their suburbs.

²⁷ And unto the children of Gershon, of the families of the Levites, out of the half-tribe of Manasseh they gave Golan in Bashan with its suburbs, the city of refuge for the manslayer, and Be-eshterah with its suburbs; two cities.

²⁸ And out of the tribe of Issachar, Kishion with its suburbs, Daberath with its suburbs,

²⁹ Jarmuth with its suburbs, En-gannim with its suburbs; four cities.

³⁰ And out of the tribe of Asher, Mishal with its suburbs, Abdon with its suburbs,

³¹ Helkath with its suburbs, and Rehob with its suburbs; four cities.

³² And out of the tribe of Naphtali, Kedesh in Galilee with its suburbs, the city of refuge for the manslayer, and Hammoth-dor with its suburbs, and Kartan with its suburbs; three cities.

⁸ And the children of Israel gave to the Levites the cities and their suburbs, as the Lord commanded Moses, by lot.

⁹ And the tribe of the children of Juda, and the tribe of the children of Symeon, and part of the tribe of the children of Benjamin gave these cities, and they were assigned

¹⁰ to the sons of Aaron of the family of Caath of the sons of Levi, for the lot fell to these.

¹¹ And they gave to them Cariatharboc the metropolis of the sons of Enac; this is Chebron in the mountain country of Juda, and the suburbs round it.

¹² But the lands of the city, and its villages Joshua gave to the sons of Chaleb the son of Jephonne for a possession.

¹³ And to the sons of Aaron he gave the city of refuge for the slayer, Chebron, and the suburbs belonging to it; and Lemna and the suburbs belonging to it;

¹⁴ and Ælom and its suburbs; and Tema and its suburbs;

¹⁵ and Gella and its suburbs; and Dabir and its suburbs;

¹⁶ and Asa and its suburbs; and Tany and its suburbs; and Bæthsamys and its suburbs: nine cities from these two tribes.

¹⁷ And from the tribe of Benjamin, Gabaon and its suburbs; and Gatheth and its suburbs;

¹⁸ and Anathoth and its suburbs; and Gamala and its suburbs; four cities.

²¹ out of the tribe of Ephraim; and they gave them the slayer's city of refuge, Sychem, and its suburbs, and Gazara and its appendages, and its suburbs;

²² and Bæthoron and its suburbs: four cities:

²³ and of the tribe of Dan, Helcothaim and its suburbs; and Gethedan and its suburbs:

²⁴ and Ælon and its suburbs; and Getheremmon and its suburbs: four cities.

²⁵ And out of the half tribe of Manasse, Tanach and its suburbs; and Jebatha and its suburbs; two cities.

²⁶ In all were given ten cities, and the suburbs of each belonging to them, to the families of the sons of Caath that remained.

³² And of the tribe of Nephthali, the city set apart for the slayer, Cades in Galilee, and its suburbs; and Nemmath, and its suburbs; and Themmon and its suburbs; three cities.

³² And out of the tribe of Naphtali, Kedesh in Galilee with her suburbs, the city of refuge for the manslayer, and Hammoth-dor with her suburbs, and Kartan with her suburbs; three cities.

⁴ First they allotted some cities to the Kohath clans, who belonged to the tribe of Levi. To those who were descendants of the first Supreme Priest Aaron, they allotted 13 towns in the areas that had been allotted to the tribes of Judah, Simeon, and Benjamin.

⁵ To the other members of the Kohath clan they allotted ten cities in the areas that had been allotted to the tribes of Ephraim, Dan, and the part of the tribe of Manasseh that lives on the west side of the Jordan River.

⁶ The people from the Gershon clans were allotted 13 cities in the areas that had been allotted to the tribes of Issachar, Asher, Naphtali, and the part of the tribe of Manasseh that lives on the east side of the Jordan River.

⁷ The people from the Merari clans were allotted twelve cities in the areas that had been allotted to the tribes of Reuben, Gad, and Zebulun.

⁸ So the Israeli leaders gave cities and pastureland to the tribe of Levi, just as Yahweh had commanded Moses that they should do.

⁹ These are the names of the cities and surrounding pasturelands that were allotted to them, that were in the areas where the tribes of Judah and Simeon lived.

¹⁰ First, they allotted cities to the members of the Kohath clans.

¹¹ They allotted to them Kiriath-Arba (which is now named Hebron), in the hilly area of Judah. Arba received its name because Arba was the ancestor of the giants of the Anak people-group.

¹² But the fields and villages surrounding Arba had already been allotted to Caleb.

¹³ They allotted to them Hebron, which was one of the cities to which people could run/escape to be safe/protected. They also allotted to the Kohath clan the cities of Libnah,

¹⁴ Jattir, Eshtemoa,

¹⁵ Holon, Debir,

¹⁶ Ain, Juttah, and Beth-Shemesh. Altogether they were allotted those nine cities which were located in the areas that had been allotted to the tribes of Judah and Simeon.

¹⁷ The Kohath clan was also allotted these four cities: Gibeon, Geba,

¹⁸ Anathoth, and Almon. Those cities were in the area that had been allotted to the tribe of Benjamin.

¹⁹ Altogether those 13 towns and surrounding pastureland were allotted to the priests who were descended from Aaron.

²⁰ The other members the Kohath clan were allotted four cities and the surrounding pastureland in the area that had been allotted to the tribe of Ephraim.

²¹ Those cities were Shechem (which was one of the cities to which people could run/escape to be safe/protected), Gezer,

²² Kibzaim, and Beth-Horon.

²³ They were also allotted four cities and surrounding pastureland in the area that had been allotted to the tribe of Dan. Those cities were Eltekeh, Gibbethon,

²⁴ Aijalon, and Gath-Rimmon.

²⁵ They were also allotted two towns and surrounding pastureland that had been allotted to the part of the tribe of Manasseh that lived on the west side of the Jordan River. Those cities were Taanach and Gath-Rimmon.

²⁶ Those were the ten cities and surrounding pastureland that were allotted to the other members of the Kohath clan.

²⁷ They also allotted towns and the surrounding pastureland to the Gershon clans. Those clans were also descended from Levi. They were allotted two cities from the area that had been allotted to the tribe of Manasseh that is on the east side of the Jordan River. Those cities were Golan in the Bashan region, which was one of the cities to which people could run/escape to be safe/protected, and Be-Eshtarah.

²⁸ From the area that had been allotted to the tribe of Issachar they were allotted four cities. Those cities were Kishion, Daberath,

²⁹ Jarmuth, and En-Gannim.

³² From the area that had been allotted to the tribe of Naphtali they were allotted three cities. Those cities were Kedesh in the Galilee region (it was one of the cities to which people could run/escape to be safe/protected,) Hammoth-Dor, and Kartan.

⁴ And the lot came out for the children of Caath; and the sons of Aaron, the priests the Levites, had by lot thirteen cities out of the tribe of Juda, and out of the tribe of Symeon, and out of the tribe of Benjamin.

⁵ And to the sons of Caath that were left were given by lot ten cities, out of the tribe of Ephraim, and out of the tribe of Dan, and out of the half tribe of Manasse.

¹¹ And they gave to them Cariatharboc the metropolis of the sons of Enac; this is Chebron in the mountain country of Juda, and the suburbs round it.

⁸ All these towns with their grass-lands the children of Israel gave by the decision of the Lord to the Levites, as the Lord had given orders by Moses.

⁶ The families of the descendants of Gershon were allotted thirteen towns from the tribes of Issachar, Asher, Naphtali, and the half-tribe of Manasseh living in Bashan.

⁷ The families of the descendants of Merari were allotted twelve towns from the tribes of Reuben, Gad, and Zebulun.

⁸ So the Israelites gave the Levites by lot these towns and pastures, as the Lord had instructed through Moses.

⁹ They gave from the tribe of Judah and the tribe of Simeon the following towns, specifically named,

¹⁰ to the families of the Kothaites, descendants of Aaron, of the tribe of Levi, since the first lot fell to them:

¹¹ Kiriath-arba (or Hebron), in the hill country of Judah, together with the pastures around it. (Arba was the forefather of Anak.)

¹² But the more distant fields from the town and the villages had been given to Caleb son of Jephunneh to own.

¹³ They gave to the descendants of Aaron the priest the following towns and their pastures: Hebron (a sanctuary town for those who accidentally committed murder), Libnah,

¹⁴ Jattir, Eshtemoa,

¹⁵ Holon, Debir,

¹⁶ Ain, Juttah, and Beth-shemesh—nine towns from these two tribes.

¹⁷ From the tribe of Benjamin the following four towns and their pastures: Gibeon, Geba,

¹⁸ Anathoth, and Almon.

¹⁹ So in total thirteen towns and their pastures were given to the priests, the descendants of Aaron.

²⁰ As for the remaining families of the children of Kothah from the tribe of Levi, they were given by lot four towns and their pastures from the tribe of Ephraim:

²¹ Shechem in the hill country of Ephraim (a sanctuary town for those who accidentally committed murder), Gezer,

²² Kibzaim, and Beth-horon.

²³ From the tribe of Dan, the following four towns and their pastures: Eltekeh, Gibbethon,

²⁴ Aijalon, and Gath-rimmon.

²⁵ From the half-tribe of Manasseh the following two towns and their pastures: Taanach and Gath-rimmon.

²⁶ So in total ten towns and their pastures were given to remaining families of the descendants of Kothah.

²⁷ The families of the descendants of Gershon from the tribe of Levi received the following two towns and their pastures from the half-tribe of Manasseh: Golan in Bashan (a sanctuary town for those who accidentally committed murder), and Be-eshterah.

²⁸ From the tribe of Issachar the following four towns and their pastures: Kishion, Daberath,

²⁹ Jarmuth, and En-gannim.

³⁰ From the tribe of Asher the following four towns and their pastures: Mishal, Abdon,

³¹ Helkath, and Rehob.

³² From the tribe of Naphtali the following three towns and their pastures: Kedesh in Galilee (a sanctuary town for those who accidentally committed murder), Hammoth-dor, and Kartan.

⁴ And the lot came out for the families of the Kohathites: and the children of Aaron ye Priest, which were of the Leuites, had by lot, out of the tribe of Iudah, and out of the tribe of Simeon, and out of the tribe of Beniamin thirteene cities.

²⁹ Yarmuth with its open spaces, 'En-gannim with its open spaces: four cities.

⁵ And to the sons of Kohath that were left were given by lot ten cities, out of the tribe of Ephraim, and out of the tribe of Dan, and out of the half tribe of Manasseh.

¹² But the lands of the city, and its villages Joshua gave to the sons of Caleb the son of Jephunneh for a possession.

¹³ And to the sons of Aaron he gave the city of refuge for the slayer, Hebron, and the suburbs belonging to it; and Libnah and the suburbs belonging to it;

¹⁴ and Aelom and its suburbs; and Eshtemoa and its suburbs;

¹⁵ and Holon and its suburbs; and Debir and its suburbs;

¹⁶ and Asa and its suburbs; and Tany and its suburbs; and Beth-shemesh and its suburbs: nine cities from these two tribes.

²¹ out of the tribe of Ephraim; and they gave them the slayer’s city of refuge, Shechem, and its suburbs, and Gezer and its appendages, and its suburbs;

²² and Beth-horon and its suburbs: four cities:

²³ and of the tribe of Dan, Elteke and its suburbs; and Gibbethon and its suburbs:

²⁴ and Aijalon and its suburbs; and Gath-rimmon and its suburbs: four cities.

²⁵ And out of the half tribe of Manasseh, Taanach and its suburbs; and Jebatha and its suburbs; two cities.

²⁶ In all were given ten cities, and the suburbs of each belonging to them, to the families of the sons of Kohath that remained.

²⁷ And Joshua gave to the sons of Gershon the Levites out of the other half tribe of Manasseh cities set apart for the slayers, Golan in the country of Bashan, and its suburbs; and Beeshterah and its suburbs; two cities.

²⁸ And out of the tribe of Issachar, Kishion and its suburbs; and Daberath and its suburbs;

²⁹ and Jarmuth and its suburbs; and the well of Letters, and its suburbs; four cities.

³⁰ And out of the tribe of Asher, Mishal and its suburbs; and Abdon and its suburbs;

³¹ and Helkath and its suburbs; and Rehob and its suburbs; four cities.

³² And of the tribe of Naphtali, the city set apart for the slayer, Kedesh in Galilee, and its suburbs; and Hammoth, and its suburbs; and Themmon and its suburbs; three cities.

⁴ The casting of lots for the clans of the Kohathites gave this result: The priests—the descendants of Aaron who were from the Levites—received thirteen cities given from the tribe of Judah, from the tribe of the Simeon, and from the tribe of Benjamin.

⁵ The rest of the Kohathites were allotted ten cities from the clans of the tribes of Ephraim, Dan, and from the half tribe of Manasseh.

⁶ Then the people descended from Gershon were given, by the casting of lots, thirteen cities from the clans of the tribes of Issachar, Asher, Naphtali, and the half tribe of Manasseh in Bashan.

⁷ The people who were descendants of Merari, clan by clan, received twelve cities from the tribes of Reuben, Gad, and Zebulun.

⁸ So the people of Israel gave, by casting lots, these cities (including their pasturelands) to the Levites, just as Yahweh had commanded by the hand of Moses.

²¹ To them were given Shechem with its pasturelands in the hill country of Ephraim—a city of refuge for any who killed a person unintentionally—Gezer with its pasturelands,

²² Kibzaim with its pasturelands, and Beth Horon with its pasturelands—four cities in all.

²³ From the tribe of Dan, the clan of Kohath was given Eltekeh with its pasturelands, Gibbethon with its pasturelands,

²⁴ Aijalon with its pasturelands, and Gath Rimmon with its pasturelands—four cities in all.

²⁵ From the half tribe of Manasseh, the clan of Kohath was given Taanach with its pasturelands and Gath Rimmon with its pasturelands—two cities.

²⁶ There were ten cities in all for the rest of the clans of the Kohathites, including their pasturelands.

²⁷ From the half tribe of Manasseh, to clans of Gershon, these were other Levite clans, and they gave Golan in Bashan with its pasturelands—a city of refuge for anyone who killed another unintentionally, along with Be Eshterah with its pasturelands—two cities in all.

²⁸ To the clans of Gershon they also gave Kishion from the tribe of Issachar, along with its pasturelands, Daberath with its pasturelands,

²⁹ Jarmuth with its pasturelands, and En Gannim with its pasturelands—four cities.

³⁰ From the tribe of Asher, they gave Mishal with its pasturelands, Abdon with its pasturelands,

³¹ Helkath with its pasturelands, and Rehob with its pasturelands—four cities in all.

²⁵ soothly of the half lineage of Manasseh (or and from the western half of the tribe of Manasseh), Taanach and Gathrimmon, with their suburbs; two cities.

²⁶ All the cities were ten, and their suburbs, that were given to the sons of Kohath, of the lower degree. (So all the cities that were given to the rest of the Kohathite families, that is, to the Levites of the lower degree, were ten cities, with their suburbs.)

²⁷ Also to the sons of Gershon, of the kin of Levi, Joshua gave (out) of the half lineage of Manasseh, cities of refuge, Golan in Bashan, and Beeshterah, with their suburbs; two cities. (And to the Gershonites, of the Levites, from the eastern half of the tribe of Manasseh, Joshua gave a city of refuge, Golan in Bashan, and Beeshterah, with their suburbs; two cities.)

²⁸ And (out) of the lineage of Issachar, he gave Kishon, and Dabereh,

²⁹ and Jarmuth, and Engannim, with their suburbs; four cities.

³⁰ (And out) Of the lineage of Asher, he gave Mishal, and Abdon,

³¹ and Helkath, and Rehob, with their suburbs; four cities.

³² Also (out) of the lineage of Naphtali (or And from the tribe of Naphtali), he gave the city of refuge, Kedesh in Galilee, and Hammothdor, and Kartan, with their suburbs; three cities.

⁴ And the lot goeth out for the families of the Kohathite, and there are for the sons of Aaron the priest (of the Levites), out of the tribe of Judah, and out of the tribe of Simeon, and out of the tribe of Benjamin, by lot thirteen cities,

⁵ and for the sons of Kohath who are left, out of the families of the tribe of Ephraim, and out of the tribe of Dan, and out of the half of the tribe of Manasseh, by lot ten cities:

⁶ And for the sons of Gershon are, out of the families of the tribe of Issachar, and out of the tribe of Asher, and out of the tribe of Naphtali, and out of the half tribe of Manasseh in Bashan, by lot, thirteen cities.

⁷ For the sons of Merari, for their families, are, out of the tribe of Reuben, and out of the tribe of Gad, and out of the tribe of Zebulun, twelve cities.

⁸ And the sons of Israel give to the Levites these cities and their suburbs, as Jehovah commanded by the hand of Moses, by lot.

⁹ And they give out of the tribe of the sons of Judah, and out of the tribe of the sons of Simeon, these cities which are called by name;

¹⁰ and they are for the sons of Aaron, of the families of the Kohathite, of the sons of Levi, for theirs hath been the first lot;

¹¹ and they give to them the city of Arba father of Anak (it is Hebron), in the hill-country of Judah, and its suburbs round about it;

¹² and the field of the city and its villages they have given to Caleb son of Jephunneh for his possession.

¹³ And to the sons of Aaron the priest they have given the city of refuge for the man-slayer, Hebron and its suburbs, and Libnah and its suburbs,

¹⁴ and Jattir and its suburbs, and Eshtemoa and its suburbs,

¹⁵ and Holon and its suburbs, and Debir and its suburbs,

¹⁶ and Ain and its suburbs, and Juttah and its suburbs, Beth-Shemesh and its suburbs; nine cities out of these two tribes.

¹⁷ And out of the tribe of Benjamin, Gibeon and its suburbs, Geba and its suburbs,

¹⁸ Anathoth and its suburbs, and Almon and its suburbs — four cities;

¹⁹ all the cities of the sons of Aaron the priests, are thirteen cities and their suburbs.

²⁰ And for the families of the sons of Kohath, the Levites, who are left of the sons of Kohath, even the cities of their lot are of the tribe of Ephraim;

²¹ and they give to them the city of refuge for the man-slayer, Shechem and its suburbs, in the hill-country of Ephraim, and Gezer and its suburbs,

²² and Kibzaim and its suburbs, and Beth-Horon and its suburbs — four cities.

²³ And out of the tribe of Dan, Eltekeh and its suburbs, Gibbethon and its suburbs,

²⁴ Aijalon and its suburbs, Gath-Rimmon and its suburbs — four cities.

²⁵ And out of the half of the tribe of Manasseh, Taanach and its suburbs, and Gath-Rimmon and its suburbs — two cities;

²⁶ all the cities are ten and their suburbs, for the families of the sons of Kohath who are left.
