¹³ And unto the children of Aaron the priest they gave Hebron with its suburbs, the city of refuge for the manslayer, and Libnah with its suburbs,

¹⁴ and Jattir with its suburbs, and Eshtemoa with its suburbs,

¹⁵ and Holon with its suburbs, and Debir with its suburbs,

¹⁶ and Ain with its suburbs, and Juttah with its suburbs, and Beth-shemesh with its suburbs; nine cities out of those two tribes.

¹⁷ And out of the tribe of Benjamin, Gibeon with its suburbs, Geba with its suburbs,

¹⁸ Anathoth with its suburbs, and Almon with its suburbs; four cities.

¹⁹ All the cities of the children of Aaron, the priests, were thirteen cities with their suburbs.

²⁰ And the families of the children of Kohath, the Levites, even the rest of the children of Kohath, they had the cities of their lot out of the tribe of Ephraim.

²¹ And they gave them Shechem with its suburbs in the hill-country of Ephraim, the city of refuge for the manslayer, and Gezer with its suburbs,

²² and Kibzaim with its suburbs, and Beth-horon with its suburbs; four cities.

²³ And out of the tribe of Dan, Elteke with its suburbs, Gibbethon with its suburbs,

²⁴ Aijalon with its suburbs, Gath-rimmon with its suburbs; four cities.

²⁵ And out of the half-tribe of Manasseh, Taanach with its suburbs, and Gath-rimmon with its suburbs; two cities.

²⁶ All the cities of the families of the rest of the children of Kohath were ten with their suburbs.

²⁷ And unto the children of Gershon, of the families of the Levites, out of the half-tribe of Manasseh they gave Golan in Bashan with its suburbs, the city of refuge for the manslayer, and Be-eshterah with its suburbs; two cities.

²⁸ And out of the tribe of Issachar, Kishion with its suburbs, Daberath with its suburbs,

²⁹ Jarmuth with its suburbs, En-gannim with its suburbs; four cities.

³⁰ And out of the tribe of Asher, Mishal with its suburbs, Abdon with its suburbs,

³¹ Helkath with its suburbs, and Rehob with its suburbs; four cities.

³² And out of the tribe of Naphtali, Kedesh in Galilee with its suburbs, the city of refuge for the manslayer, and Hammoth-dor with its suburbs, and Kartan with its suburbs; three cities.

³³ All the cities of the Gershonites according to their families were thirteen cities with their suburbs.

³⁴ And unto the families of the children of Merari, the rest of the Levites, out of the tribe of Zebulun, Jokneam with its suburbs, and Kartah with its suburbs,

³⁵ Dimnah with its suburbs, Nahalal with its suburbs; four cities.

³⁶ And out of the tribe of Reuben, Bezer with its suburbs, and Jahaz with its suburbs,

³⁷ Kedemoth with its suburbs, and Mephaath with its suburbs; four cities.

³⁸ And out of the tribe of Gad, Ramoth in Gilead with its suburbs, the city of refuge for the manslayer, and Mahanaim with its suburbs,

³⁹ Heshbon with its suburbs, Jazer with its suburbs; four cities in all.

⁴⁰ All these were the cities of the children of Merari according to their families, even the rest of the families of the Levites; and their lot was twelve cities.

⁴¹ All the cities of the Levites in the midst of the possession of the children of Israel were forty and eight cities with their suburbs.

⁴² These cities were every one with their suburbs round about them: thus it was with all these cities.

⁴³ So Jehovah gave unto Israel all the land which he sware to give unto their fathers; and they possessed it, and dwelt therein.

²¹ out of the tribe of Ephraim; and they gave them the slayer's city of refuge, Sychem, and its suburbs, and Gazara and its appendages, and its suburbs;

²² and Bæthoron and its suburbs: four cities:

²³ and of the tribe of Dan, Helcothaim and its suburbs; and Gethedan and its suburbs:

²⁴ and Ælon and its suburbs; and Getheremmon and its suburbs: four cities.

²⁵ And out of the half tribe of Manasse, Tanach and its suburbs; and Jebatha and its suburbs; two cities.

²⁶ In all were given ten cities, and the suburbs of each belonging to them, to the families of the sons of Caath that remained.

²⁷ And Joshua gave to the sons of Gedson the Levites out of the other half tribe of Manasse cities set apart for the slayers, Gaulon in the country of Basan, and its suburbs; and Bosora and its suburbs; two cities.

²⁸ And out of the tribe of Issachar, Kison and its suburbs; and Debba and its suburbs;

²⁹ and Remmath and its suburbs; and the well of Letters, and its suburbs; four cities.

³⁰ And out of the tribe of Aser, Basella and its suburbs; and Dabbon and its suburbs;

³¹ and Chelcat and its suburbs; and Raab and its suburbs; four cities.

³² And of the tribe of Nephthali, the city set apart for the slayer, Cades in Galilee, and its suburbs; and Nemmath, and its suburbs; and Themmon and its suburbs; three cities.

³³ All the cities of Gedson according to their families were thirteen cities.

³⁴ And to the family of the sons of Merari the Levites that remained, he gave out of the tribe of Zabulon, Maan and its suburbs; and Cades and its suburbs,

³⁵ and Sella and its suburbs: three cities.

³⁶ And beyond Jordan over against Jericho, out of the tribe of Ruben, the city of refuge for the slayer, Bosor in the wilderness; Miso and its suburbs; and Jazer and its suburbs;

³⁷ and Decmon and its suburbs; and Mapha and its suburbs; four cities.

³⁸ And out of the tribe of Gad the city of refuge for the slayer, both Ramoth in Galaad, and its suburbs; Camin and its suburbs;

³⁹ and Esbon and its suburbs; and Jazer and its suburbs: the cities were four in all.

⁴⁰ All these cities were given to the sons of Merari according to the families of them that were left out of the tribe of Levi; and their limits were the twelve cities.

⁴¹ All the cities of the Levites in the midst of the possession of the children of Israel, were forty-eight cities,

⁴² and their suburbs round about these cities: a city and the suburbs round about the city to all these cities:

^42a and Joshua ceased dividing the land by their borders:

^42b and the children of Israel gave a portion to Joshua because of the commandment of the Lord: they gave him the city which he asked: they gave him Thamnasachar in mount Ephraim;

^42c and Joshua built the city, and dwelt in it:

^42d and Joshua took the knives of stone, wherewith he circumcised the children of Israel that were born in the desert by the way, and put them in Thamnasachar.

⁴³ So the Lord gave to Israel all the land which he sware to give to their fathers: and they inherited it, and dwelt in it.

¹³ They allotted to them Hebron, which was one of the cities to which people could run/escape to be safe/protected. They also allotted to the Kohath clan the cities of Libnah,

¹⁴ Jattir, Eshtemoa,

¹⁵ Holon, Debir,

¹⁶ Ain, Juttah, and Beth-Shemesh. Altogether they were allotted those nine cities which were located in the areas that had been allotted to the tribes of Judah and Simeon.

¹⁷ The Kohath clan was also allotted these four cities: Gibeon, Geba,

¹⁸ Anathoth, and Almon. Those cities were in the area that had been allotted to the tribe of Benjamin.

¹⁹ Altogether those 13 towns and surrounding pastureland were allotted to the priests who were descended from Aaron.

²⁰ The other members the Kohath clan were allotted four cities and the surrounding pastureland in the area that had been allotted to the tribe of Ephraim.

²¹ Those cities were Shechem (which was one of the cities to which people could run/escape to be safe/protected), Gezer,

²² Kibzaim, and Beth-Horon.

²³ They were also allotted four cities and surrounding pastureland in the area that had been allotted to the tribe of Dan. Those cities were Eltekeh, Gibbethon,

²⁴ Aijalon, and Gath-Rimmon.

²⁵ They were also allotted two towns and surrounding pastureland that had been allotted to the part of the tribe of Manasseh that lived on the west side of the Jordan River. Those cities were Taanach and Gath-Rimmon.

²⁶ Those were the ten cities and surrounding pastureland that were allotted to the other members of the Kohath clan.

²⁷ They also allotted towns and the surrounding pastureland to the Gershon clans. Those clans were also descended from Levi. They were allotted two cities from the area that had been allotted to the tribe of Manasseh that is on the east side of the Jordan River. Those cities were Golan in the Bashan region, which was one of the cities to which people could run/escape to be safe/protected, and Be-Eshtarah.

²⁸ From the area that had been allotted to the tribe of Issachar they were allotted four cities. Those cities were Kishion, Daberath,

²⁹ Jarmuth, and En-Gannim.

³⁰ From the area that had been allotted to the tribe of Asher they were allotted four cities. Those cities were Mishal, Abdon,

³¹ Helkath, and Rehob.

³² From the area that had been allotted to the tribe of Naphtali they were allotted three cities. Those cities were Kedesh in the Galilee region (it was one of the cities to which people could run/escape to be safe/protected,) Hammoth-Dor, and Kartan.

³³ So altogether the Gershon clans were allotted 13 cities and the surrounding pasturelands.

³⁴ The other descendants of Levi, the ones who belonged to the Merari clans, were also allotted towns and their surrounding pasturelands. From the area that had been allotted to the tribe of Zebulun they were allotted four cities. They were Jokneam, Kartah,

³⁵ Dimnah, and Nahalal.

³⁶ From the area that had been allotted to the tribe of Reuben they were allotted four cities. They were Bezer, Jahaz,

³⁷ Kedemoth, and Mephaath.

³⁸ From the area that had been allotted to the tribe of Gad they were allotted four cities. They were Ramoth, which was one of the cities in the Gilead region to which people could run/escape to be safe/protected, Mahanaim,

³⁹ Heshbon, and Jazer.

⁴⁰ Altogether twelve cities were allotted to the Merari clans.

⁴¹ So altogether forty-eight cities were allotted to the tribe of Levi,

⁴² and each city had surrounding pastureland.

⁴³ In that way Yahweh allotted to the Israeli people all the land that he had promised to give to their/our ancestors. The Israeli people took control of most of those areas and started to live there.

¹⁶ and Asa and its suburbs; and Tany and its suburbs; and Baethsamys and its suburbs: nine cities from these two tribes.

²¹ out of the tribe of Ephraim; and they gave them the slayer's city of refuge, Sychem, and its suburbs, and Gazara and its appendages, and its suburbs;

²³ and the tribe of Dan, Helcothaim and its suburbs; and Gethedan and its suburbs:

²⁹ and Remmath and its suburbs; and the well of Letters, and its suburbs; four cities.

³⁰ And out of the tribe of Aser, Basella and its suburbs; and Dabbon and its suburbs;

³⁴ And to the family of the sons of Merari the Levites that remained, he gave out of the tribe of Zabulon, Maan and its suburbs; and Cades and its suburbs,

³⁵ and Sella and its suburbs: three cities.

³⁶ And beyond Jordan over against Jericho, out of the tribe of Ruben, the city of refuge for the slayer, Bosor in the wilderness; Miso and its suburbs; and Jazer and its suburbs; and Decmon and its suburbs; and Mapha and its suburbs; four cities.

³⁷ And out of the tribe of Gad the city of refuge for the slayer, both Ramoth in Galaad, and its suburbs; Camin and its suburbs; and Esbon and its suburbs; and Jazer and its suburbs: the cities were four in all.

³⁸ All these cities were given to the sons of Merari according to the families of them that were left out of the tribe of Levi; and their limits were the twelve cities.

³⁹ All the cities of the Levites in the midst of the possession of the children of Israel, were forty-eight cities,

⁴⁰ and their suburbs round about these cities: a city and the suburbs round about the city to all these cities: and Joshua ceased dividing the land by their borders: and the children of Israel gave a portion to Joshua because of the commandment of the Lord: they gave him the city which he asked: they gave him Thamnasachar in mount Ephraim; and Joshua built the city, and lived in it: and Joshua took the knives of stone, wherewith he circumcised the children of Israel that were born in the desert by the way, and put them in Thamnasachar.

⁴¹ And the Lord God gave to Israel all the land that he had sworn to give to their fathers: and they possessed it and dwelt in it.

⁴² And he gave them peace from all nations round about: and none of their enemies durst stand against them, but were brought under their dominion.

⁴³ Not so much as one word, which he had promised to perform unto them, was made void, but all came to pass.

²⁷ The families of the descendants of Gershon from the tribe of Levi received the following two towns and their pastures from the half-tribe of Manasseh: Golan in Bashan (a sanctuary town for those who accidentally committed murder), and Be-eshterah.

²⁸ From the tribe of Issachar the following four towns and their pastures: Kishion, Daberath,

²⁹ Jarmuth, and En-gannim.

³⁰ From the tribe of Asher the following four towns and their pastures: Mishal, Abdon,

³¹ Helkath, and Rehob.

³² From the tribe of Naphtali the following three towns and their pastures: Kedesh in Galilee (a sanctuary town for those who accidentally committed murder), Hammoth-dor, and Kartan.

³³ So in total thirteen towns and their pastures were allotted to the families of Gershon.

³⁶ From the tribe of Reuben the following four towns and their pastures: Bezer, Jahaz,

³⁷ Kedemoth, and Mephaath.

³⁸ From the tribe of Gad the following four towns and their pastures: Ramoth in Gilead (a sanctuary town for those who accidentally committed murder), Mahanaim,

³⁹ Heshbon, and Jazer.

⁴⁰ So in total twelve towns were allotted to the families of Merari, those remaining from the tribe of Levi.

⁴¹ The Levites received a total of forty-eight towns and pastures within the land of the Israelites.

⁴² Each of these towns had pastures around them.

⁴³ And so the Lord gave to the Israelites all the land he had promised their ancestors. They took possession of it and settled there.

¹³ Thus they gaue to the children of Aaron the Priest, a citie of refuge for the slaier, euen Hebron with her suburbes, and Libnah with her suburbes,

¹⁴ And Iattir with her suburbes, and Eshtemoa, and her suburbes,

¹⁵ And Holon with her suburbes, and Debir with her suburbes,

¹⁶ And Ain with her suburbes, and Iuttah with her suburbes, Beth-shemesh with her suburbes: nine cities out of those two tribes.

¹⁹ All the cities of the children of Aaron Priests, were thirteene cities with their suburbes.

²⁰ But to the families of the children of Kohath of the Leuites, which were the rest of the children of Kohath (for the cities of their lot were out of the tribe of Ephraim)

²¹ They gaue them the citie of refuge for the slaier, Shechem with her suburbes in mount Ephraim, and Gezer with her suburbes,

²² And Kibzaim with her suburbs, and Bethhoron with her suburbes: foure cities.

²³ And out of the tribe of Dan, Eltekeh with her suburbes, Gibethon with her suburbes,

²⁹ and Jarmuth and its suburbs; and the well of Letters, and its suburbs; four cities.

³⁰ And out of the tribe of Asher, Mishal and its suburbs; and Abdon and its suburbs;

³² And of the tribe of Naphtali, the city set apart for the slayer, Kedesh in Galilee, and its suburbs; and Hammoth, and its suburbs; and Themmon and its suburbs; three cities.

³³ All the cities of Gershon according to their families were thirteen cities.

³⁴ And to the family of the sons of Merari the Levites that remained, he gave out of the tribe of Zebulun, Maan and its suburbs; and Kadesh and its suburbs,

³⁵ and Sella and its suburbs: three cities.

³⁶ And beyond Jordan over against Jericho, out of the tribe of Reuben, the city of refuge for the slayer, Bezer in the wilderness; Miso and its suburbs; and Jahaz and its suburbs;

³⁷ and Kedemoth and its suburbs; and Mephaath and its suburbs; four cities.

³⁸ And out of the tribe of Gad the city of refuge for the slayer, both Ramoth in Gilead, and its suburbs; Camin and its suburbs;

³⁹ and Heshbon and its suburbs; and Jazer and its suburbs: the cities were four in all.

⁴⁰ All these cities were given to the sons of Merari according to the families of them that were left out of the tribe of Levi; and their limits were the twelve cities.

⁴¹ All the cities of the Levites in the midst of the possession of the children of Israel, were forty-eight cities,

⁴² and their suburbs round about these cities: a city and the suburbs round about the city to all these cities:

^42a and Joshua ceased dividing the land by their borders:

^42b and the children of Israel gave a portion to Joshua because of the commandment of the Lord: they gave him the city which he asked: they gave him Timnath-serah in Mount Ephraim;

^42c and Joshua built the city, and dwelt in it:

^42d and Joshua took the knives of stone, wherewith he circumcised the children of Israel that were born in the desert by the way, and put them in Timnath-serah.

¹⁴ Jattir with its pasturelands, and Eshtemoa with its pasturelands.

¹⁵ They also gave Holon with its pasturelands, Debir with its pasturelands,

¹⁶ Ain with its pasturelands, Juttah with its pasturelands, and Beth Shemesh with its pasturelands. There were nine cities that were given from these two tribes.

²¹ To them were given Shechem with its pasturelands in the hill country of Ephraim—a city of refuge for any who killed a person unintentionally—Gezer with its pasturelands,

²² Kibzaim with its pasturelands, and Beth Horon with its pasturelands—four cities in all.

²³ From the tribe of Dan, the clan of Kohath was given Eltekeh with its pasturelands, Gibbethon with its pasturelands,

²⁴ Aijalon with its pasturelands, and Gath Rimmon with its pasturelands—four cities in all.

²⁵ From the half tribe of Manasseh, the clan of Kohath was given Taanach with its pasturelands and Gath Rimmon with its pasturelands—two cities.

²⁶ There were ten cities in all for the rest of the clans of the Kohathites, including their pasturelands.

²⁷ From the half tribe of Manasseh, to clans of Gershon, these were other Levite clans, and they gave Golan in Bashan with its pasturelands—a city of refuge for anyone who killed another unintentionally, along with Be Eshterah with its pasturelands—two cities in all.

²⁸ To the clans of Gershon they also gave Kishion from the tribe of Issachar, along with its pasturelands, Daberath with its pasturelands,

³⁴ To the rest of the Levites—the clans of Merari—were given out of the tribe of Zebulun: Jokneam with its pasturelands, Kartah with its pasturelands,

³⁵ Dimnah with its pasturelands, and Nahalal with its pasturelands—four cities in all.

³⁶ To the clans of Merari were given from the tribe of Reuben: Bezer with its pasturelands, Jahaz with its pasturelands,

⁴⁰ All these were the cities of the several clans of Merari, who were from the tribe of Levi—twelve cities in all were given to them by the casting of lots.

⁴¹ The cities of the Levites taken from the middle of the land possessed by the people of Israel were forty-eight cities, including their pasturelands.

⁴² These cities each had its surrounding pasturelands. It was this way with all these cities.

²⁷ And for the sons of Gershon, of the families of the Levites, out of the half of the tribe of Manasseh, the city of refuge for the man-slayer, Golan in Bashan and its suburbs, and Beeshterah and its suburbs — two cities.

²⁸ And out of the tribe of Issachar, Kishon and its suburbs, Dabarath and its suburbs,

²⁹ Jarmuth and its suburbs, En-Gannim and its suburbs — four cities.

³⁰ And out of the tribe of Asher, Mishal and its suburbs, Abdon and its suburbs,

³¹ Helkath and its suburbs, and Rehob and its suburbs — four cities.

³² And out of the tribe of Naphtali, the city of refuge for the man-slayer, Kedesh in Galilee and its suburbs, and Hammoth-Dor and its suburbs, and Kartan and its suburbs — three cities;

³³ all the cities of the Gershonite, for their families, are thirteen cities and their suburbs.

³⁴ And for the families of the sons of Merari, the Levites, who are left, are, out of the tribe of Zebulun, Jokneam and its suburbs, Kartah and its suburbs,

³⁵ Dimnah and its suburbs, Nahalal and its suburbs — four cities.

³⁶ And out of the tribe of Reuben, Bezer and its suburbs, and Jahazah and its suburbs,

³⁷ Kedemoth and its suburbs, and Mephaath and its suburbs — four cities.

³⁸ And out of the tribe of Gad, the city of refuge for the man-slayer, Ramoth in Gilead and its suburbs, and Mahanaim and its suburbs,

³⁹ Heshbon and its suburbs, Jazer and its suburbs — in all four cities.

⁴⁰ All the cities for the sons of Merari, for their families, who are left of the families of the Levites — their lot is twelve cities.

⁴¹ All the cities of the Levites in the midst of the possession of the sons of Israel are forty and eight cities, and their suburbs.

⁴² These cities are each city and its suburbs round about it; so to all these cities.

⁴³ And Jehovah giveth to Israel the whole of the land which He hath sworn to give to their fathers, and they possess it, and dwell in it;
