Joshua 20:1-3 in English

¹ And Jehovah spake unto Joshua, saying,

² Speak to the children of Israel, saying, Assign you the cities of refuge, whereof I spake unto you by Moses,

³ that the manslayer that killeth any person unwittingly and unawares may flee thither: and they shall be unto you for a refuge from the avenger of blood.

¹ And the Lord spoke to Joshua, saying,

² Speak to the children of Israel, saying, Assign the cities of refuge, of which I spoke to you by Moses.

³ Even a refuge to the slayer who has smitten a man unintentionally; and the cities shall be to you a refuge, and the slayer shall not be put to death by the avenger of blood, until he have stood before the congregation for judgment.

¹ The LORD also spake unto Joshua, saying,

² Speak to the children of Israel, saying, Appoint out for you cities of refuge, whereof I spake unto you by the hand of Moses:

³ That the slayer that killeth any person unawares and unwittingly may flee thither: and they shall be your refuge from the avenger of blood.

² Speak to the children of Israel, saying, Assign the cities of refuge, of which I spoke to you by Moses.

³ Even a refuge to the slayer who has struck a man unintentionally; and the cities shall be to you a refuge, and the slayer shall not be put to death by the avenger of blood, until he have stood before the congregation for judgment.

¹ And the LORD spake unto Joshua, saying,

² Speak to the children of Israel, saying, Assign you the cities of refuge, whereof I spake unto you by the hand of Moses:

³ that the manslayer that killeth any person unwittingly and unawares may flee thither: and they shall be unto you for a refuge from the avenger of blood.

¹ Then Yahweh said to Joshua,

² “Tell the Israeli people that they should choose some cities to which people can run in order to be safe/protected, like I told Moses that they should do.

³ If someone kills another person accidentally, not intending to kill that person, the one who killed that person may run/escape to one of these cities and be safe/protected from someone trying to get revenge for that person's death MTY.

¹ And the Lord spoke to Joshua, saying,

³ that the man slayer who kills any person accidentally or unintentionally may flee there. They shall be to you for a refuge from the avenger of blood.

¹ And the Lord said to Joshua,

² Say to the children of Israel, Let certain towns be marked out as safe places, as I said to you by the mouth of Moses,

³ So that any man who in error and without design has taken the life of another, may go in flight to them: and they will be safe places for you from him who has the right of punishment for blood.

¹ And Jehovah spoke to Joshua, saying,

² Speak to the children of Israel, saying, Appoint for yourselves the cities of refuge, whereof I spoke unto you through Moses,

³ that the slayer who unwittingly without intent smiteth any one mortally may flee thither: and they shall be your refuge from the avenger of blood.

¹ And the Lord spoke to Josue, saying: Speak to the children of Israel and say to them:

² Appoint cities of refuge, a of which I spoke to you by the hand of Moses:

³ That whosoever shall kill a person unawares may flee to them: and may escape the wrath of the kinsman, who is the avenger of blood:

¹ Then the Lord told Joshua,

² “Tell the Israelites, ‘Assign sanctuary towns, as I instructed you through Moses.

³ Then any man who kills somebody by accident, unintentionally, can run there and they will be protected from those who wish to take revenge.

¹ The Lord also spake vnto Ioshua, saying,

² Speake to the children of Israel, and say, Appoint you cities of refuge, whereof I spake vnto you by the hand of Moses,

³ That the slaier that killeth any person by ignorance, and vnwittingly, may flee thither, and they shall be your refuge from the auenger of blood.

¹ And the LORD spoke unto Joshua, saying:

² 'Speak to the children of Israel, saying: Assign you the cities of refuge, whereof I spoke unto you by the hand of Moses;

³ that the manslayer that killeth any person through error and unawares may flee thither; and they shall be unto you for a refuge from the avenger of blood.

¹ The Lord also spake unto Joshua, saying,

² Speak to the children of Israel, saying, Appoint out for you cities of refuge, whereof I spake unto you by the hand of Moses:

³ that the slayer that killeth any person unawares and unwittingly may flee thither: and they shall be your refuge from the avenger of blood.

³ That thither may flee the manslayer that killeth any person unawares, without knowledge; and they shall be unto you for a refuge from the avenger of the blood.

¹ And the Lord spoke to Joshua, saying,

² Speak to the children of Israel, saying, Assign the cities of refuge, of which I spoke to you by Moses.

³ Even a refuge to the slayer who has smitten a man unintentionally; and the cities shall be to you a refuge, and the slayer shall not be put to death by the avenger of blood, until he have stood before the congregation for judgment.

¹ Then Yahweh said to Joshua,

² “Speak to the people of Israel, saying, 'Appoint the cities of refuge of which I spoke to you by the hand of Moses.

³ Do this so that one who unintentionally kills a person can go there. These cities will be a place of refuge from anyone who seeks to avenge the blood of a person who was killed.

¹ Yahweh spoke to Joshua, saying,

³ that the man slayer who kills any person accidentally or unintentionally may flee there. They shall be to you for a refuge from the avenger of blood.

¹ The LORD spoke to Joshua, saying,

³ that the man slayer who kills any person accidentally or unintentionally may flee there. They shall be to you for a refuge from the avenger of blood.

¹ The LORD also spoke to Joshua, saying,

³ That the slayer that killeth any person unawares and ignorantly, may flee thither: and they shall be your refuge from the avenger of blood.

¹ The LORD spoke to Joshua, saying,

² “Speak to the children of Israel, saying, ‘Assign the cities of refuge, of which I spoke to you by Moses,

³ that the man slayer who kills any person accidentally or unintentionally may flee there. They shall be to you for a refuge from the avenger of blood.

¹ The LORD spoke to Joshua, saying,

² “Speak to the children of Israel, saying, ‘Assign the cities of refuge, of which I spoke to you by Moses,

³ that the man slayer who kills any person accidentally or unintentionally may flee there. They shall be to you for a refuge from the avenger of blood.

¹ And the Lord spake to Joshua, and said,

² Speak thou to the sons of Israel, and say thou to them, Separate ye the cities of fugitives, either of men exiled for unwillful shedding of blood, of which cities I spake to you by the hand of Moses,

³ that whoever slayeth unwittingly a man, flee to those cities; that when he hath fled to one of those cities, he may escape the ire or wrath of the neighbour, which is avenger of blood.

¹ And the Lord spake to Joshua, and said,

² Speak thou to the sons of Israel, and say thou to them, Separate ye (out) the cities of fugitives, either of men exiled for (the) unwillful shedding of blood, of which cities I spake to you by the hand of Moses, (Speak thou to the Israelites, and say thou to them, Ordain ye the cities of refuge for those who be exiled for the unwillful, or the unintentional, shedding of blood, of which cities I spoke to you by Moses,)

³ that whoever slayeth unwittingly a man, flee to those cities; that when he hath fled to one of those cities, he may escape the ire of the neighbour, which is venger of blood. (so that whoever unwittingly killeth someone, can flee to those cities; so that when he hath fled to one of these cities, he can escape the anger of the neighbour, who avengeth the blood.)

¹ And Jehovah speaketh unto Joshua, saying,

² 'Speak unto the sons of Israel, saying, Give for you cities of refuge, as I have spoken unto you by the hand of Moses,

³ for the fleeing thither of a man-slayer smiting life inadvertently, without knowledge; and they have been to you for a refuge from the redeemer of blood.
