Joshua 14:6-11 in English

⁶ Then the children of Judah drew nigh unto Joshua in Gilgal: and Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite said unto him, Thou knowest the thing that Jehovah spake unto Moses the man of God concerning me and concerning thee in Kadesh-barnea.

⁷ Forty years old was I when Moses the servant of Jehovah sent me from Kadesh-barnea to spy out the land; and I brought him word again as it was in my heart.

⁸ Nevertheless my brethren that went up with me made the heart of the people melt; but I wholly followed Jehovah my God.

⁹ And Moses sware on that day, saying, Surely the land whereon thy foot hath trodden shall be an inheritance to thee and to thy children for ever, because thou hast wholly followed Jehovah my God.

¹⁰ And now, behold, Jehovah hath kept me alive, as he spake, these forty and five years, from the time that Jehovah spake this word unto Moses, while Israel walked in the wilderness: and now, lo, I am this day fourscore and five years old.

¹¹ As yet I am as strong this day as I was in the day that Moses sent me: as my strength was then, even so is my strength now, for war, and to go out and to come in.

⁶ And the children of Juda came to Joshua in Galgal, and Chaleb the son of Jephone the Kenezite said to him, Thou knowest the word that the Lord spoke to Moses the man of God concerning me and thee in Cades Barne.

⁷ For I was forty years old when Moses the servant of God sent me out of Cades Barne to spy out the land; and I returned him an answer according to his mind.

⁸ My brethren that went up with me turned away the heart of the people, but I applied myself to follow the Lord my God.

⁹ And Moses sware on that day, saying, The land on which thou art gone up, it shall be thy inheritance and thy children's for ever, because thou hast applied thyself to follow the Lord our God.

¹⁰ And now the Lord has kept me alive as he said: this is the forty-fifth year since the Lord spoke that word to Moses; and Israel journeyed in the wilderness; and now, behold, I am this day eighty-five years old.

¹¹ I am still strong this day, as when the Lord sent me: just so strong am I now to go out and to come in for war.

⁶ One day some men from the tribe of Judah went to Joshua while he and all the Israelis were at Gilgal. Among those men was Jephunneh's son Caleb. He said to Joshua, “ I am sure that you remember what Yahweh said to the prophet Moses about you and me when we were at Kadesh-Barnea.

⁷ I was forty years old at that time. Moses sent me and you and some other men to explore this land. When we returned, I gave to Moses a true report IDM about what we had seen.

⁸ The other men who went with us gave a report that caused the people to be afraid IDM. But I fully/completely believed that Yahweh would enable us to take the land from the people who lived there.

⁹ So on that day, Moses solemnly promised me, ‘ Some of the land on which you walked will become yours. It will belong to your descendants forever. I am giving it to you because you fully trusted in Yahweh, my God.’

¹⁰ Now Yahweh has done for me what he promised. Forty-five years have passed since Moses said that to me during the time that we were wandering around in the desert. And just like Yahweh promised, he has kept me alive and well all during that time. Now I am eighty-five years old.

¹¹ I am as strong today as I was on the day that Moses sent me to explore this land. I am as ready to fight now as I was then.

⁶ And the children of Juda came to Joshua in Galgal, and Chaleb the son of Jephone the Kenezite said to him, You know the word that the Lord spoke to Moses the man of God concerning me and you in Cades Barne.

⁷ For I was forty years old when Moses the servant of God sent me out of Cades Barne to spy out the land; and I returned him an answer according to his mind.

⁶ Then the children of Judah went to Joshua in Gilgal; and Caleb, the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite, said to him, You have knowledge of what the Lord said to Moses, the man of God, about me and about you in Kadesh-barnea.

⁷ I was forty years old when Moses, the servant of the Lord, sent me from Kadesh-barnea to make a search through the land; and the account which I gave him was in keeping with his desire.

⁸ My brothers, however, who went up with me, made the heart of the people like water: but I was true to the Lord with all my heart.

⁹ And on that day Moses took an oath, saying, Truly the land where your feet have been placed will become a heritage for you and your children for ever, because you have been true to the Lord your God with all your heart.

¹⁰ And now, as you see, the Lord has kept me safe these forty-five years, from the time when the Lord said this to Moses, while Israel was wandering in the waste land: and now I am eighty-five years old.

¹¹ And still, I am as strong today as I was when Moses sent me out: as my strength was then, so is it now, for war and for all the business of life.

⁶ Then the children of Judah came near to Joshua in Gilgal, and Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite said to him, Thou knowest the word that Jehovah spoke to Moses the man of God, concerning me and thee, in Kadesh-barnea.

¹⁰ And now behold, Jehovah has kept me alive, as he said, these forty-five years, since Jehovah spoke this word to Moses, when Israel wandered in the wilderness; and now behold, I am this day eighty-five years old.

¹¹ I am still this day strong, as in the day that Moses sent me: as my strength was then, even so is my strength now, for war, both to go out and to come in.

⁶ Then the children of Juda came to Josue in Galgal, and Caleb the son of Jephone the Cenezite spoke to him: Thou knowest what the Lord spoke to Moses the man of God concerning me and thee in Cadesbarne.

⁷ I was forty Bears old when Moses the servant of the Lord sent me from Cadesbarne, to view the land, and I brought him word again as to me seemed true.

⁸ But my brethren, that had gone up with me, discouraged the heart of the people: and I nevertheless followed the Lord my God.

⁹ And Moses swore in that day, saying: The land which thy foot hath trodden upon shall be thy possession, and thy children’s for ever, because thou hast followed the Lord my God.

¹⁰ The Lord therefore hath granted me life, as he promised until this present day. It is forty and five years since the Lord spoke this word to Moses, when Israel journeyed through the wilderness: this day I am eighty-five years old,

¹¹ As strong as I was at that time when I was sent to view the land: the strength of that time continueth in me until this day, as well to fight as to march.

⁶ Leaders from the tribe of Judah approached Joshua at Gilgal, and Caleb, son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite, said to him, “You remember what the Lord told Moses, the man of God, at Kadesh-barnea about me and you.

⁷ I was forty when Moses, the servant of God, sent me from Kadesh-barnea to spy out the land. When I returned I told the truth in my report.

⁸ But those who went with me made our people afraid. However, I have faithfully followed the Lord my God.

⁹ At that time Moses made a solemn promise, telling me, ‘The land where you have walked will belong to you and your children forever, because you faithfully followed the Lord my God.’

¹⁰ Look—the Lord has kept me alive these past forty-five years as he promised, from the time the Lord told Moses this while Israel was wandering in the wilderness. Now I'm eighty-five,

¹¹ but I'm still as strong today as when Moses sent me out. I'm as strong and ready for battle or for whatever may come as I was then.

⁶ Then the children of Iudah came vnto Ioshua in Gilgal: and Caleb the sonne of Iephunneh the Kenezite saide vnto him, Thou knowest what the Lord saide vnto Moses the man of God, concerning me and thee in Kadesh-barnea.

⁷ Fourtie yeere olde was I, when Moses the seruant of the Lord sent me from Kadesh-barnea to espie the land, and I brought him word againe, as I thought in mine heart.

⁸ But my brethren that went vp with me, discouraged the heart of the people: yet I followed still the Lord my God.

⁹ Wherefore Moses sware the same day, saying, Certainely the land whereon thy feete haue troden, shalbe thine inheritance, and thy childrens for euer, because thou hast followed constantly the Lord my God.

¹⁰ Therefore beholde nowe, the Lord hath kept me aliue, as he promised: this is the fourtie and fift yeere since the Lord spake this thing vnto Moses, while the children of Israel wandered in the wildernes: and nowe loe, I am this day foure score and fiue yeere olde:

¹¹ And yet am as strong at this time, as I was when Moses sent me: as strong as I was then, so strong am I nowe, either for warre, or for gouernment.

⁹ And Moses swore on that day, saying, Surely the land whereon thy foot hath trodden shall belong to thee for an inheritance, and to thy children for ever; because thou hast wholly followed the Lord my God.

¹⁰ And now, behold, the Lord hath kept me alive, as he hath spoken: it is now forty and five years since the Lord spoke this word unto Moses, while Israel wandered in the wilderness; and now, behold, I am this day eighty and five years old.

¹¹ I am yet this day as strong as I was on the day that Moses sent me: as my strength was then, even so is my strength now, for war, and to go out, and to come in.

⁸ But my brothers who went up with me made the heart of the people melt with fear. But I completely followed Yahweh my God.

⁹ Moses swore on that day, saying, 'Surely the land on which your foot has walked will be an inheritance for you and for your children forever, because you have completely followed Yahweh my God.'

¹⁰ Now, look! Yahweh has kept me alive these forty-five years, just as he said—from the time when Yahweh spoke this word to Moses, while Israel walked in the wilderness. Now, look! I am this day eighty-five years old.

¹¹ I am still as strong this day as I was in the day that Moses sent me out. My strength is now as my strength was then, for war and for going and coming.

⁶ Then the children of Judah came near to Joshua in Gilgal. Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite said to him, “You know the thing that Yahweh spoke to Moses the man of God concerning me and concerning you in Kadesh Barnea.

⁸ Nevertheless, my brothers who went up with me made the heart of the people melt; but I wholly followed the LORD my God.

⁹ Moses swore on that day, saying, ‘Surely the land where you walked shall be an inheritance to you and to your children forever, because you have wholly followed the LORD my God.’

¹⁰ “Now, behold, the LORD has kept me alive, as he spoke, these forty-five years, from the time that the LORD spoke this word to Moses, while Israel walked in the wilderness. Now, behold, I am eighty-five years old, today.

¹¹ As yet I am as strong today as I was in the day that Moses sent me. As my strength was then, even so is my strength now for war, to go out and to come in.

⁶ And so the sons of Judah went to Joshua in Gilgal; and Caleb, the son of Jephunneh, of Kenaz, spake to him, Thou knowest, what the Lord spake to Moses, the man of God, of me and of thee in Kadeshbarnea.

⁷ I was of forty years, when Moses, the servant of the Lord, sent me from Kadeshbarnea, that I should behold the land, and I told to him that, that seemed sooth to me.

⁸ And my brethren, that went up with me, discomforted the heart of the people, and nevertheless I pursued or followed my Lord God.

⁹ And Moses swore in that day, and said, The land, that thy foot hath trodden, shall be thy possession, and of thy sons without end; for thou pursuedest or hast followed thy Lord God.

¹⁰ Soothly the Lord granted life to me, as he promised, till into present day. Forty years and five be, since the Lord spake this word to Moses, when Israel went through wilderness. Today I am of fourscore years and five,

¹¹ and I am as mighty, as I was mighty in that time, when I was sent to espy; the strength of that time dwelleth stably in me till to this day, as well to fight, as to go.

⁶ And so the sons of Judah went to Joshua in Gilgal; and Caleb, the son of Jephunneh, of Kenaz, spake to him, (and said), Thou knowest, what the Lord spake to Moses, the man of God, of me and of thee in Kadeshbarnea, (or Thou knowest, what the Lord said to Moses, the man of God, about you and me at Kadeshbarnea).

⁷ I was of forty years (or I was forty years old), when Moses, the servant of the Lord, sent me from Kadeshbarnea, that I should behold the land, and I told to him that, that seemed sooth to me.

⁸ And my brethren, that went up with me, discomforted the heart(s) of the people, and nevertheless I followed my Lord God. (And my kinsmen, who went up with me, discomforted the hearts of the people, but nevertheless, I followed the Lord my God.)

⁹ And Moses swore in that day, and said, The land, that thy foot hath trodden, shall be thy possession, and (that) of thy sons (into) without end; for thou followedest thy Lord God.

¹⁰ Soothly the Lord granted life to me, as he promised, till into present day. Forty years and five be, since the Lord spake this word to Moses, when Israel went through wilderness. Today I am of fourscore years and five, (And the Lord granted life to me, as he promised, unto this present day. Forty-five years be, since the Lord said this word to Moses, when Israel went through the wilderness. And today I am eighty five years old,)

¹¹ and I am as mighty (now), as I was mighty in that time, when I was sent (out) to espy; the strength of that time dwelleth stably in me till to this day, as well to fight, as to go, (or yea, the strength of that time remaineth in me unto this day, to fight, as well as to go about my daily life).

⁶ And the sons of Judah come nigh unto Joshua in Gilgal, and Caleb son of Jephunneh the Kenezzite saith unto him, 'Thou hast known the word that Jehovah hath spoken unto Moses the man of God, concerning me and concerning thee in Kadesh-Barnea:

⁷ a son of forty years am I in Moses, servant of Jehovah, sending me from Kadesh-Barnea, to spy the land, and I bring him back word as with my heart;

⁸ and my brethren who have gone up with me have caused the heart of the people to melt, and I have been fully after Jehovah my God;

⁹ and Moses sweareth in that day, saying, If not — the land on which thy foot hath trodden, to thee it is for inheritance, and to thy sons — to the age, for thou hast been fully after Jehovah my God.

¹⁰ 'And, now, lo, Jehovah hath kept me alive, as He hath spoken, these forty and five years, since Jehovah spake this word unto Moses, when Israel went in the wilderness; and now, lo, I am to-day a son of five and eighty years;

¹¹ yet am I to-day strong as in the day of Moses' sending me; as my power then, so is my power now, for battle, and to go out, and to come in.
