Joshua 14:2-12 in American Standard Version (1901)

2 by the lot of their inheritance, as Jehovah commanded by Moses, for the nine tribes, and for the half-tribe.
3 For Moses had given the inheritance of the two tribes and the half-tribe beyond the Jordan: but unto the Levites he gave no inheritance among them.
4 For the children of Joseph were two tribes, Manasseh and Ephraim: and they gave no portion unto the Levites in the land, save cities to dwell in, with the suburbs thereof for their cattle and for their substance.
5 As Jehovah commanded Moses, so the children of Israel did; and they divided the land.
6 Then the children of Judah drew nigh unto Joshua in Gilgal: and Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite said unto him, Thou knowest the thing that Jehovah spake unto Moses the man of God concerning me and concerning thee in Kadesh-barnea.
7 Forty years old was I when Moses the servant of Jehovah sent me from Kadesh-barnea to spy out the land; and I brought him word again as it was in my heart.
8 Nevertheless my brethren that went up with me made the heart of the people melt; but I wholly followed Jehovah my God.
9 And Moses sware on that day, saying, Surely the land whereon thy foot hath trodden shall be an inheritance to thee and to thy children for ever, because thou hast wholly followed Jehovah my God.
10 And now, behold, Jehovah hath kept me alive, as he spake, these forty and five years, from the time that Jehovah spake this word unto Moses, while Israel walked in the wilderness: and now, lo, I am this day fourscore and five years old.
11 As yet I am as strong this day as I was in the day that Moses sent me: as my strength was then, even so is my strength now, for war, and to go out and to come in.
12 Now therefore give me this hill-country, whereof Jehovah spake in that day; for thou heardest in that day how the Anakim were there, and cities great and fortified: it may be that Jehovah will be with me, and I shall drive them out, as Jehovah spake.

2 They inherited according to their lots, as the Lord commanded by the hand of Joshua to the nine tribes and the half tribe, on the other side of Jordan.
3 But to the Levites he gave no inheritance among them.
4 For the sons of Joseph were two tribes, Manasse and Ephraim; and there was none inheritance in the land given to the Levites, only cities to dwell in, and their suburbs separated for the cattle, and their cattle.
5 As the Lord commanded Moses, so did the children of Israel; and they divided the land.
6 And the children of Juda came to Joshua in Galgal, and Chaleb the son of Jephone the Kenezite said to him, Thou knowest the word that the Lord spoke to Moses the man of God concerning me and thee in Cades Barne.
7 For I was forty years old when Moses the servant of God sent me out of Cades Barne to spy out the land; and I returned him an answer according to his mind.
8 My brethren that went up with me turned away the heart of the people, but I applied myself to follow the Lord my God.
9 And Moses sware on that day, saying, The land on which thou art gone up, it shall be thy inheritance and thy children's for ever, because thou hast applied thyself to follow the Lord our God.
10 And now the Lord has kept me alive as he said: this is the forty-fifth year since the Lord spoke that word to Moses; and Israel journeyed in the wilderness; and now, behold, I am this day eighty-five years old.
11 I am still strong this day, as when the Lord sent me: just so strong am I now to go out and to come in for war.
12 And now I ask of thee this mountain, as the Lord said in that day; for thou heardest this word on that day; and now the Enakim are there, cities great and strong: if then the Lord should be with me, I will utterly destroy them, as the Lord said to me.

Joshua 14:2-12 in Translation for Translators

2 Yahweh had told Moses many years previously in what way he wanted the division of the land to be decided. Moses had already declared that two and a half tribes would be allotted land on the east side of the Jordan River. Joseph had two sons, Manasseh and Ephraim. Half of the tribe descended from Manasseh was allotted land on the east side of the Jordan, along with the tribes of Reuben and Gad. The people belonging to the nine and a half other tribes on the west side of the Jordan River threw ◄lots/stones that had been marked► to decide which land each tribe would receive. The tribe of Levi was not allotted any land. They received only towns that already existed, towns in which to live, and ◄pastures/fields of grass► for their animals.
6 One day some men from the tribe of Judah went to Joshua while he and all the Israelis were at Gilgal. Among those men was Jephunneh's son Caleb. He said to Joshua, “ I am sure that you remember what Yahweh said to the prophet Moses about you and me when we were at Kadesh-Barnea.
7 I was forty years old at that time. Moses sent me and you and some other men to explore this land. When we returned, I gave to Moses a true report IDM about what we had seen.
8 The other men who went with us gave a report that caused the people to be afraid IDM. But I fully/completely believed that Yahweh would enable us to take the land from the people who lived there.
9 So on that day, Moses solemnly promised me, ‘ Some of the land on which you walked will become yours. It will belong to your descendants forever. I am giving it to you because you fully trusted in Yahweh, my God.’
10 Now Yahweh has done for me what he promised. Forty-five years have passed since Moses said that to me during the time that we were wandering around in the desert. And just like Yahweh promised, he has kept me alive and well all during that time. Now I am eighty-five years old.
11 I am as strong today as I was on the day that Moses sent me to explore this land. I am as ready to fight now as I was then.
12 So please give me the hilly area that Yahweh promised to give to me at that time long ago. At that time, you heard me say that the Amalek people-group lived there. You heard me say that their cities were large, and they had walls around them to protect them from attacks by their enemies. But now, Yahweh will help me, and as a result I will force them to leave, just like Yahweh said would happen.”

2 Their heritage by the Lord's decision, as he gave orders by Moses, for the nine tribes and the half-tribe.
3 For Moses had given their heritage to the two tribes and the half-tribe on the other side of Jordan, but to the Levites he gave no heritage among them.
4 Because the children of Joseph were two tribes, Manasseh and Ephraim; and they gave the Levites no part in the land, only towns for their living-places, with the grass-lands for their cattle and for their property.
5 As the Lord had given orders to Moses, so the people of Israel did, and they made division of the land.
6 Then the children of Judah went to Joshua in Gilgal; and Caleb, the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite, said to him, You have knowledge of what the Lord said to Moses, the man of God, about me and about you in Kadesh-barnea.
7 I was forty years old when Moses, the servant of the Lord, sent me from Kadesh-barnea to make a search through the land; and the account which I gave him was in keeping with his desire.
8 My brothers, however, who went up with me, made the heart of the people like water: but I was true to the Lord with all my heart.
9 And on that day Moses took an oath, saying, Truly the land where your feet have been placed will become a heritage for you and your children for ever, because you have been true to the Lord your God with all your heart.
10 And now, as you see, the Lord has kept me safe these forty-five years, from the time when the Lord said this to Moses, while Israel was wandering in the waste land: and now I am eighty-five years old.
11 And still, I am as strong today as I was when Moses sent me out: as my strength was then, so is it now, for war and for all the business of life.
12 So now, give me this hill-country named by the Lord at that time; for you had an account of it then, how the Anakim were there, and great walled towns: it may be that the Lord will be with me, and I will be able to take their land, as the Lord said.

2 Dividing all by lot, as the Lord had commanded by the hand of Moses, to the nine tribes, and the half tribe.
3 For to two tribes and a half Moses had given possession beyond the Jordan: besides the Levites, who received no land among their brethren:
4 But in their place succeeded the children of Joseph divided into two tribes, of Manasses and Ephraim: neither did the Levites receive other portion of land, but cities to dwell in, and their suburbs to feed their beasts and flocks.
5 As the Lord had commanded Moses, so did the children of Israel, and they divided the land.
6 Then the children of Juda came to Josue in Galgal, and Caleb the son of Jephone the Cenezite spoke to him: Thou knowest what the Lord spoke to Moses the man of God concerning me and thee in Cadesbarne.
7 I was forty Bears old when Moses the servant of the Lord sent me from Cadesbarne, to view the land, and I brought him word again as to me seemed true.
8 But my brethren, that had gone up with me, discouraged the heart of the people: and I nevertheless followed the Lord my God.
9 And Moses swore in that day, saying: The land which thy foot hath trodden upon shall be thy possession, and thy children’s for ever, because thou hast followed the Lord my God.
10 The Lord therefore hath granted me life, as he promised until this present day. It is forty and five years since the Lord spoke this word to Moses, when Israel journeyed through the wilderness: this day I am eighty-five years old,
11 As strong as I was at that time when I was sent to view the land: the strength of that time continueth in me until this day, as well to fight as to march.
12 Give me therefore this mountain, which the Lord promised, in thy hearing also, wherein are the Enacims, and cities great and strong: if so be the Lord will be with me, and I shall be able to destroy them, as he promised me.

Joshua 14:2-12 in Free Bible Version

2 The decision regarding the land division among the nine and a half tribes was made by casting lots, as the Lord had instructed Moses.
3 Moses had allotted land to the two and a half tribes east of the Jordan but he had made no allocation to the Levites among them.
4 The descendants of Joseph had become two tribes, Manasseh and Ephraim. The Levites were not given any land, only towns to live in and pasture for their flocks and herds.
5 So the Israelites followed the instructions the Lord had given Moses in allocating the land.
6 Leaders from the tribe of Judah approached Joshua at Gilgal, and Caleb, son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite, said to him, “You remember what the Lord told Moses, the man of God, at Kadesh-barnea about me and you.
7 I was forty when Moses, the servant of God, sent me from Kadesh-barnea to spy out the land. When I returned I told the truth in my report.
8 But those who went with me made our people afraid. However, I have faithfully followed the Lord my God.
9 At that time Moses made a solemn promise, telling me, ‘The land where you have walked will belong to you and your children forever, because you faithfully followed the Lord my God.’
10 Look—the Lord has kept me alive these past forty-five years as he promised, from the time the Lord told Moses this while Israel was wandering in the wilderness. Now I'm eighty-five,
11 but I'm still as strong today as when Moses sent me out. I'm as strong and ready for battle or for whatever may come as I was then.
12 So give me the hill country that the Lord spoke about. You heard at that time about the descendants of Anak who lived there in large, fortified towns. If the Lord is with me I will drive them out as the Lord promised.”

12 Nowe therefore giue me this mountaine whereof ye Lord spake in that day (for thou heardest in that day, how the Anakims were there, and the cities great and walled) if so be the Lord will be with me, that I may driue them out, as the Lord said.

2 and these parted all things by lot, as the Lord commanded in the hand of Moses, to the nine lineages, and to the half lineage.
3 For Moses had given to the two lineages and to the half lineage possession over Jordan; without the Levites, that took nothing of the land among their brethren;
4 but the sons of Joseph were parted into two lineages, of Manasseh, and of Ephraim, and were heirs into the place of them. And the Levites took none other part in the land, no but cities to dwell in, and the suburbs of those or them to their work beasts and their sheep to be fed in.
5 As the Lord commanded to Moses, so the sons of Israel did, and they parted the land.
6 And so the sons of Judah went to Joshua in Gilgal; and Caleb, the son of Jephunneh, of Kenaz, spake to him, Thou knowest, what the Lord spake to Moses, the man of God, of me and of thee in Kadeshbarnea.
7 I was of forty years, when Moses, the servant of the Lord, sent me from Kadeshbarnea, that I should behold the land, and I told to him that, that seemed sooth to me.
8 And my brethren, that went up with me, discomforted the heart of the people, and nevertheless I pursued or followed my Lord God.
9 And Moses swore in that day, and said, The land, that thy foot hath trodden, shall be thy possession, and of thy sons without end; for thou pursuedest or hast followed thy Lord God.
10 Soothly the Lord granted life to me, as he promised, till into present day. Forty years and five be, since the Lord spake this word to Moses, when Israel went through wilderness. Today I am of fourscore years and five,
11 and I am as mighty, as I was mighty in that time, when I was sent to espy; the strength of that time dwelleth stably in me till to this day, as well to fight, as to go.
12 Therefore give thou to me this hill, which the Lord promised to me, while also thou heardest, in which hill be Anakim, and great cities, and strengthened; if in hap the Lord is with me, and I may do them away, as he promised to me.

Joshua 14:2-12 in Wycliffe's Bible with Modern Spelling (Enhanced)

2 and these (men) parted all things by lot, as the Lord commanded in the hand of Moses (or as the Lord commanded by Moses), to the nine lineages, and to the half lineage.
3 For Moses had given to the two lineages and to the half lineage (their) possession(s) over (the) Jordan; without the Levites, that took nothing of the land among their brethren; (For Moses had already given the two tribes and the half tribe on the eastern side of the Jordan River their possessions; and without the Levites, who took nothing of the land among their kinsmen;)
4 but the sons of Joseph were parted into two lineages, (that) of Manasseh, and (that) of Ephraim, and were heirs into the place of them. And the Levites took none other part in the land, no but cities to dwell in, and the suburbs of those to their work beasts and their sheep to be fed in. (for Joseph’s sons were divided into two tribes, that of Manasseh,which itself was divided into two parts, and that of Ephraim, and they were heirs in their places. And the Levites took no portion of the land, but only some cities to live in, and their suburbs for their work beasts and their sheep to be fed in.)
5 As the Lord commanded to Moses, so the sons of Israel did, and they parted the land. (As the Lord commanded to Moses, so the Israelites did, and they divided up the land.)
6 And so the sons of Judah went to Joshua in Gilgal; and Caleb, the son of Jephunneh, of Kenaz, spake to him, (and said), Thou knowest, what the Lord spake to Moses, the man of God, of me and of thee in Kadeshbarnea, (or Thou knowest, what the Lord said to Moses, the man of God, about you and me at Kadeshbarnea).
7 I was of forty years (or I was forty years old), when Moses, the servant of the Lord, sent me from Kadeshbarnea, that I should behold the land, and I told to him that, that seemed sooth to me.
8 And my brethren, that went up with me, discomforted the heart(s) of the people, and nevertheless I followed my Lord God. (And my kinsmen, who went up with me, discomforted the hearts of the people, but nevertheless, I followed the Lord my God.)
9 And Moses swore in that day, and said, The land, that thy foot hath trodden, shall be thy possession, and (that) of thy sons (into) without end; for thou followedest thy Lord God.
10 Soothly the Lord granted life to me, as he promised, till into present day. Forty years and five be, since the Lord spake this word to Moses, when Israel went through wilderness. Today I am of fourscore years and five, (And the Lord granted life to me, as he promised, unto this present day. Forty-five years be, since the Lord said this word to Moses, when Israel went through the wilderness. And today I am eighty five years old,)
11 and I am as mighty (now), as I was mighty in that time, when I was sent (out) to espy; the strength of that time dwelleth stably in me till to this day, as well to fight, as to go, (or yea, the strength of that time remaineth in me unto this day, to fight, as well as to go about my daily life).
12 Therefore give thou to me this hill, which the Lord promised to me, while also thou heardest, in which hill be Anakim, and great cities, and strengthened; if in hap the Lord is with me, and I may do them away, as he promised to me. (And so give thou to me this hill, which the Lord promised me, while also thou heardest it, on which hill be the Anakim, that is, the giants, and great and strengthened cities; and if the Lord be with me, then I shall be able to do them away, as he promised me.)

Joshua 14:2-12 in Young's Literal Translation

2 by lot is their inheritance, as Jehovah commanded by the hand of Moses, for the nine of the tribes, and the half of the tribe;
3 for Moses hath given the inheritance of two of the tribes, and of half of the tribe, beyond the Jordan, and to the Levites he hath not given an inheritance in their midst;
4 for the sons of Joseph hath been two tribes, Manasseh and Ephraim, and they have not given a portion to the Levites in the land, except cities to dwell in, and their suburbs for their cattle, and for their possessions;
5 as Jehovah commanded Moses, so have the sons of Israel done, and they apportion the land.
6 And the sons of Judah come nigh unto Joshua in Gilgal, and Caleb son of Jephunneh the Kenezzite saith unto him, 'Thou hast known the word that Jehovah hath spoken unto Moses the man of God, concerning me and concerning thee in Kadesh-Barnea:
7 a son of forty years am I in Moses, servant of Jehovah, sending me from Kadesh-Barnea, to spy the land, and I bring him back word as with my heart;
8 and my brethren who have gone up with me have caused the heart of the people to melt, and I have been fully after Jehovah my God;
9 and Moses sweareth in that day, saying, If not — the land on which thy foot hath trodden, to thee it is for inheritance, and to thy sons — to the age, for thou hast been fully after Jehovah my God.
10 'And, now, lo, Jehovah hath kept me alive, as He hath spoken, these forty and five years, since Jehovah spake this word unto Moses, when Israel went in the wilderness; and now, lo, I am to-day a son of five and eighty years;
11 yet am I to-day strong as in the day of Moses' sending me; as my power then, so is my power now, for battle, and to go out, and to come in.
12 'And now, give to me this hill-country, of which Jehovah spake in that day, for thou didst hear in that day, for Anakim are there, and cities, great, fenced; if so be Jehovah is with me, then I have dispossessed them, as Jehovah hath spoken.'
