Joshua 14:1-3 in English

¹ And these are the inheritances which the children of Israel took in the land of Canaan, which Eleazar the priest, and Joshua the son of Nun, and the heads of the fathers’ houses of the tribes of the children of Israel, distributed unto them,

² by the lot of their inheritance, as Jehovah commanded by Moses, for the nine tribes, and for the half-tribe.

³ For Moses had given the inheritance of the two tribes and the half-tribe beyond the Jordan: but unto the Levites he gave no inheritance among them.

¹ And these are they of the children of Israel that received their inheritance in the land of Chanaan, to whom Eleazar the priest, and Joshua the son of Naue, and the heads of the families of the tribes of the children of Israel, gave inheritance.

² They inherited according to their lots, as the Lord commanded by the hand of Joshua to the nine tribes and the half tribe, on the other side of Jordan.

³ But to the Levites he gave no inheritance among them.

¹ And these are the countries which the children of Israel inherited in the land of Canaan, which Eleazar the priest, and Joshua the son of Nun, and the heads of the fathers of the tribes of the children of Israel, distributed for inheritance to them.

² By lot was their inheritance, as the LORD commanded by the hand of Moses, for the nine tribes, and for the half tribe.

¹ Eleazar the Supreme Priest, Joshua, and the leaders of the twelve tribes repeated what land would be allotted to each of the Israeli tribes in Canaan.

² Yahweh had told Moses many years previously in what way he wanted the division of the land to be decided. Moses had already declared that two and a half tribes would be allotted land on the east side of the Jordan River. Joseph had two sons, Manasseh and Ephraim. Half of the tribe descended from Manasseh was allotted land on the east side of the Jordan, along with the tribes of Reuben and Gad. The people belonging to the nine and a half other tribes on the west side of the Jordan River threw ◄lots/stones that had been marked► to decide which land each tribe would receive. The tribe of Levi was not allotted any land. They received only towns that already existed, towns in which to live, and ◄pastures/fields of grass► for their animals.

¹ And these are they of the children of Israel that received their inheritance in the land of Chanaan, to whom Eleazar the priest, and Joshua the son of Naue, and the heads of the families of the tribes of the children of Israel, gave inheritance.

² They inherited according to their lots, as the Lord commanded by the hand of Joshua to the nine tribes and the half tribe, on the other side of Jordan.

³ But to the Levites he gave no inheritance amongst them.

¹ And these are the heritages which the children of Israel took in the land of Canaan, which Eleazar, the priest, and Joshua, the son of Nun, and the heads of the tribes of the children of Israel, gave out to them;

² Their heritage by the Lord's decision, as he gave orders by Moses, for the nine tribes and the half-tribe.

³ For Moses had given their heritage to the two tribes and the half-tribe on the other side of Jordan, but to the Levites he gave no heritage among them.

¹ And this is what the children of Israel inherited in the land of Canaan, which Eleazar the priest, and Joshua the son of Nun, and the chief fathers of the tribes of the children of Israel, allotted for inheritance to them:

² their inheritance was by lot, as Jehovah had commanded by Moses, for the nine tribes, and the half tribe.

³ For Moses had given the inheritance of the two tribes and the half tribe beyond the Jordan, but to the Levites he had given no inheritance among them.

¹ This is what the children of Israel possessed in the land of Chanaan, which Eleazar the priest, and Josue the son of Nun, and the princes of the families by the tribes of Israel gave to them:

² Dividing all by lot, as the Lord had commanded by the hand of Moses, to the nine tribes, and the half tribe.

³ For to two tribes and a half Moses had given possession beyond the Jordan: besides the Levites, who received no land among their brethren:

¹ This was the land that was allotted to the Israelites to own in the land of Canaan by Eleazar the priest, Joshua, son of Nun, and the leaders of the tribes.

² The decision regarding the land division among the nine and a half tribes was made by casting lots, as the Lord had instructed Moses.

³ Moses had allotted land to the two and a half tribes east of the Jordan but he had made no allocation to the Levites among them.

¹ These also are the places which the children of Israel inherited in the land of Canaan, which Eleazar the Priest, and Ioshua the sonne of Nun and the chiefe fathers of the tribes of the children of Israel, distributed to them,

² By the lot of their inheritance, as the Lord had commanded by the hande of Moses, to giue to the nine tribes, and the halfe tribe.

³ For Moses had giuen inheritance vnto two tribes and an halfe tribe, beyond Iorde: but vnto the Leuites he gaue none inheritance among them.

¹ And these are the inheritances which the children of Israel took in the land of Canaan, which Eleazar the priest, and Joshua the son of Nun, and the heads of the fathers' houses of the tribes of the children of Israel, distributed unto them,

² by the lot of their inheritance, as the LORD commanded by the hand of Moses, for the nine tribes, and for the half-tribe. —

³ For Moses had given the inheritance of the two tribes and the half-tribe beyond the Jordan; but unto the Levites he gave no inheritance among them.

² By the lot as their inheritance: as the Lord had commanded by the hand of Moses, for the nine tribes, and the half tribe.

³ For Moses had given the inheritance of the two tribes and the half tribe on the other side of the Jordan; but unto the Levites he had given no inheritance among them.

¹ And these are they of the children of Israel that received their inheritance in the land of Canaan, to whom Eleazar the priest, and Joshua the son of Nun, and the heads of the families of the tribes of the children of Israel, gave inheritance.

² They inherited according to their lots, as the Lord commanded by the hand of Joshua to the nine tribes and the half tribe, on the other side of Jordan.

³ But to the Levites he gave no inheritance among them.

¹ These are the areas of land that the people of Israel received as their inheritance in the land of Canaan, which Eleazar the priest, Joshua son of Nun, and the the tribal leaders of Israel allotted to them.

² Their inheritance was selected by lot for the nine and one-half tribes, just as Yahweh had commanded by the hand of Moses.

³ For Moses had given the inheritance of the two and one-half tribes beyond the Jordan, but to the Levites he gave no inheritance.

¹ These are the inheritances which the children of Israel took in the land of Canaan, which Eleazar the priest, Joshua the son of Nun, and the heads of the fathers’ houses of the tribes of the children of Israel, distributed to them,

² by the lot of their inheritance, as Yahweh commanded by Moses, for the nine tribes, and for the half-tribe.

³ For Moses had given the inheritance of the two tribes and the half-tribe beyond the Jordan; but to the Levites he gave no inheritance among them.

¹ This is the possession that the sons of Israel wielded in the land of Canaan, which land Eleazar the priest, and Joshua, the son of Nun, and the princes of the meines of the lineages of Israel gave to them,

² and these parted all things by lot, as the Lord commanded in the hand of Moses, to the nine lineages, and to the half lineage.

³ For Moses had given to the two lineages and to the half lineage possession over Jordan; without the Levites, that took nothing of the land among their brethren;

¹ This is the possession that the sons of Israel wielded in the land of Canaan, which land(s) Eleazar the priest, and Joshua, the son of Nun, and the princes of the families of the lineages of Israel gave to them, (These be the possessions which the Israelites took in the land of Canaan, which lands Eleazar the priest, and Joshua, the son of Nun, and the leaders of the families of the tribes of Israel gave to them,)

² and these (men) parted all things by lot, as the Lord commanded in the hand of Moses (or as the Lord commanded by Moses), to the nine lineages, and to the half lineage.

³ For Moses had given to the two lineages and to the half lineage (their) possession(s) over (the) Jordan; without the Levites, that took nothing of the land among their brethren; (For Moses had already given the two tribes and the half tribe on the eastern side of the Jordan River their possessions; and without the Levites, who took nothing of the land among their kinsmen;)

¹ And these are they of the sons of Israel who inherited in the land of Canaan, whom Eleazar the priest, and Joshua son of Nun, and the heads of the fathers of the tribes of the sons of Israel, caused to inherit;

² by lot is their inheritance, as Jehovah commanded by the hand of Moses, for the nine of the tribes, and the half of the tribe;

³ for Moses hath given the inheritance of two of the tribes, and of half of the tribe, beyond the Jordan, and to the Levites he hath not given an inheritance in their midst;
