Joshua 11:2-9 in English

² and to the kings that were on the north, in the hill-country, and in the Arabah south of Chinneroth, and in the lowland, and in the heights of Dor on the west,

³ to the Canaanite on the east and on the west, and the Amorite, and the Hittite, and the Perizzite, and the Jebusite in the hill-country, and the Hivite under Hermon in the land of Mizpah.

⁴ And they went out, they and all their hosts with them, much people, even as the sand that is upon the sea-shore in multitude, with horses and chariots very many.

⁵ And all these kings met together; and they came and encamped together at the waters of Merom, to fight with Israel.

⁶ And Jehovah said unto Joshua, Be not afraid because of them; for to-morrow at this time will I deliver them up all slain before Israel: thou shalt hock their horses, and burn their chariots with fire.

⁷ So Joshua came, and all the people of war with him, against them by the waters of Merom suddenly, and fell upon them.

⁸ And Jehovah delivered them into the hand of Israel, and they smote them, and chased them unto great Sidon, and unto Misrephoth-maim, and unto the valley of Mizpeh eastward; and they smote them, until they left them none remaining.

⁹ And Joshua did unto them as Jehovah bade him: he hocked their horses, and burnt their chariots with fire.

² and to the kings who were by the great Sidon, to the hill country and to Araba opposite Keneroth, and to the plain, and to Phenaeddor,

³ and to the Chananites on the coast eastward, and to the Amorites on the coast, and the Chettites, and the Pherezites, and the Jebusites in the mountain, and the Evites, and those dwelling under mount Aermon in the land Massyma.

⁴ And they and their kings with them went forth, as the sand of the sea in multitude, and horses, and very many chariots.

⁵ And all the kings assembled in person, and came to the same place, and encamped at the waters of Maron to war with Israel.

⁶ And the Lord said to Joshua, Be not afraid of them, for to-morrow at this time I will put them to flight before Israel: thou shalt hough their horses, and burn their chariots with fire.

⁷ And Joshua and all the men of war came upon them at the water of Maron suddenly; and they attacked them in the hill country.

⁸ And the Lord delivered them into the power of Israel; and they smote them and pursued them to great Sidon, and to Maseron, and to the plains of Massoch eastward; and they destroyed them till there was not one of them left that survived.

⁹ And Joshua did to them, as the Lord commanded him: he houghed their horses, and burned their chariots with fire.

⁹ And Joshua did unto them as the LORD bade him: he houghed their horses, and burnt their chariots with fire.

² He also sent messages to the kings in the northern hilly area and to the kings in the Jordan River Valley, south of Galilee Lake and in the western hills. He sent a message to the king of Naphoth-Dor in the west

³ and to the kings of the Canaan people-group in the eastern and western parts of the land. He sent messages to the Amor people-group and the Heth people-group and the Periz people-group and the Jebus people-group who lived in the hilly area. He also sent a message to the Hiv people-group who lived below Hermon Mountain in the Mizpah area.

⁴ So the armies of all those kings gathered together, bringing their horses and chariots. There seemed to be HYP as many soldiers as grains of sand on the seashore.

⁵ All of those kings and their armies gathered together at Merom Pond, and they set up their tents there. Then they made plans to fight against the Israelis.

⁶ Then Yahweh said to Joshua, “Do not be afraid of them, because at this time tomorrow I will enable your men to defeat them. Your men must also cripple their horses and burn their chariots.”

⁷ So Joshua and his army traveled to Merom Pond and attacked their enemies ◄by surprise/before they were ready to fight►.

⁸ Yahweh enabled the Israelis to defeat them. They pursued them to Sidon city in the far north, and to Misrephoth-Maim in the northwest, and to Mizpah Valley in the northeast. The Israelis fought them until ◄they were all dead/there were no survivors►.

⁹ Then Joshua and his men did what Yahweh told them to do: They crippled their enemies' horses and burned their chariots.

⁷ So Joshua came suddenly, with all the warriors, against them by the waters of Merom, and attacked them.

⁸ Yahweh delivered them into the hand of Israel, and they struck them, and chased them to great Sidon, and to Misrephoth Maim, and to the valley of Mizpah eastward. They struck them until they left them no one remaining.

⁹ Joshua did to them as Yahweh told him. He hamstrung their horses and burned their chariots with fire.

⁵ And all these kings came together, and put their forces in position at the waters of Merom, to make war on Israel.

⁶ And the Lord said to Joshua, Have no fear of them: for tomorrow at this time I will give them all up dead before Israel; you are to have the leg-muscles of their horses cut and their war-carriages burned with fire.

⁷ So Joshua and all the men of war with him came against them suddenly at the waters of Merom, and made an attack on them.

⁸ And the Lord gave them up into the hands of Israel, and they overcame them driving them back to great Zidon and to Misrephoth-maim and into the valley of Mizpeh to the east; and they put them all to death, no man got away safely.

⁹ And Joshua did to them as the Lord had said to him; he had the leg-muscles of their horses cut and their war-carriages burned with fire.

² and to the kings that were northward in the mountains, and in the plain south of Chinneroth, and in the lowland, and on the upland of Dor on the west,

³ to the Canaanite on the east and on the west, and to the Amorite, and the Hittite, and the Perizzite, and the Jebusite in the mountains, and to the Hivite at the foot of Hermon in the land of Mizpah.

⁴ And they went out, they and all their armies with them, a people numerous as the sand that is on the seashore in multitude, with horses and chariots very many.

⁵ And all these kings met together, and came and encamped together at the waters of Merom, to fight against Israel.

⁶ And Jehovah said to Joshua, Be not afraid because of them; for to-morrow about this time will I give them all up slain before Israel: their horses shalt thou hough, and thou shalt burn their chariots with fire.

⁷ And Joshua, and all the people of war with him, came upon them by the waters of Merom suddenly, and fell upon them.

⁸ And Jehovah delivered them into the hand of Israel, and they smote them, and chased them unto great Zidon, and to Misrephoth-maim, and to the valley of Mizpah eastward, and smote them until none were left remaining to them.

⁹ And Joshua did to them as Jehovah had said to him: he houghed their horses, and burned their chariots with fire.

² And to the kings of the north, that dwelt in the mountains and in the plains over against the south side of Ceneroth, and in the levels and the countries of Dor by the sea side:

³ To the Chanaanites also on the ease and on the west, and the Amorrhite, and the Hethite, and the Pherezite, and the Jebusite in the mountains: to the Hevite also who dwelt at the foot of Hermon in the land of Maspha.

⁴ And they all came out with their troops, a people exceeding numerous as the sand that is on the sea shore, their horses also and chariots a very great multitude,

⁵ And all these kings assembled together at the waters of Merom, to fight against Israel.

⁶ And the Lord said to Josue: Fear them not: for tomorrow at this same hour I will deliver all these to be slain in the sight of Israel: thou shalt hamstring their horses, and thou shalt burn their chariots with fire.

⁷ And Josue came, and all the army with him, against them to the waters of Merom on a sudden, and fell upon them.

⁸ And the Lord delivered them into the hands of Israel. And they defeated them, and chased them as far as the great Sidon, and the waters of Maserophot, and the field of Masphe, which is on the east side thereof. He slew them all, so as to leave no remains of them:

⁹ And he did as the Lord had commanded him, he hamstringed their horses and burned their chariots.

² and to the kings of the northern hill country, the Jordan Valley south of Kinnereth, the western foothills, and the foothills of Dor to the west,

³ to the kings of the Canaanites, both east and west, the Amorites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Jebusites in the hill country, and the Hivites living near Mount Hermon in the land of Mizpah.

⁴ All their armies assembled together, a vast horde as numberless as the sand of the seashore, together with many, many horses and chariots.

⁵ All these kings joined forces and set up camp beside the waters of Merom to fight against Israel.

⁶ The Lord said to Joshua, “Don't be afraid because of them, for by this time tomorrow I myself will hand them all over to Israel, dead. Cripple their horses and burn their chariots.”

⁷ Joshua and the Israelite army went and attacked them without warning at the waters of Merom.

⁸ The Lord handed them over to the Israelites who cut them down and chased them as far as Greater Sidon and Misrephoth Maim, and east to the valley of Mizpah, killing them until none were left.

⁹ Afterwards Joshua did what the Lord had ordered: he crippled the horses and burned the chariots.

² And vnto the Kings that were by ye North in the mountaines and plaines toward the Southside of Cinneroth, and in the valleys, and in the borders of Dor Westward,

³ And vnto the Canaanites, both by East, and by West, and vnto the Amorites, and Hittites, and Perizzites, and Iebusites in the mountaines, and vnto the Hiuites vnder Hermon in the land of Mizpeh.

⁴ And they came out and all their hostes with them, many people as the sande that is on the sea shore for multitude, with horses and charets exceeding many.

⁵ So all these Kings met together, and came and pitched together at the waters of Merom, for to fight against Israel.

⁶ Then the Lord sayd vnto Ioshua, Be not afrayd for them: for to morowe about this time will I deliuer them all slaine before Israel: thou shalt hough their horses, and burne their charets with fire.

⁷ Then came Ioshua and al the men of warre with him against them by the waters of Merom suddenly, and fell vpon them.

⁸ And the Lord gaue them into the hand of Israel: and they smote them, and chased them vnto great Zidon, and vnto Misrephothmaim, and vnto the valley of Mizpeh Eastward, and smote them vntill they had none remaining of them.

⁹ And Ioshua did vnto them as the Lord bade him: he houghed their horses, and burnt their charets with fire.

³ He also sent a message to the Canaanites to the east and west, the Amorites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Jebusites in the hill country, and the Hivites by Mount Hermon in the land of Mizpah.

⁴ All their armies came out with them, a great number of soldiers, in number like the sand on the seashore. They had a great number of horses and chariots.

⁵ All these kings met at the appointed time, and they camped at the waters of Merom to wage war with Israel.

⁶ Yahweh said to Joshua, “Do not be afraid in their presence, because tomorrow at this time I am giving them all to Israel as dead men. You will hamstring their horses, and you will burn their chariots.”

⁷ Joshua and all the men of war came. They arrived suddenly at the waters of Merom, and attacked the enemy.

⁸ Yahweh gave the enemy into the hand of Israel, and they struck them and pursued them to Sidon, Misrephoth Maim, and to the Valley of Mizpah to the east. They struck them until not even one survivor of them was left.

⁹ Joshua did to them just as Yahweh told him. He hamstrung the horses and burned the chariots.

² and to the kings who were on the north, in the hill country, in the Arabah south of Chinneroth, in the lowland, and in the heights of Dor on the west,

³ to the Canaanite on the east and on the west, the Amorite, the Hittite, the Perizzite, the Jebusite in the hill country, and the Hivite under Hermon in the land of Mizpah.

⁹ Joshua did to them as Yahweh told him. He hamstrung their horses and burned their chariots with fire.

² and to the kings who were on the north, in the hill country, in the Arabah south of Chinneroth, in the lowland, and in the heights of Dor on the west,

³ to the Canaanite on the east and on the west, the Amorite, the Hittite, the Perizzite, the Jebusite in the hill country, and the Hivite under Hermon in the land of Mizpah.

⁴ They went out, they and all their armies with them, many people, even as the sand that is on the seashore in multitude, with very many horses and chariots.

⁵ All these kings met together; and they came and encamped together at the waters of Merom, to fight with Israel.

⁶ The LORD said to Joshua, “Don’t be afraid because of them; for tomorrow at this time, I will deliver them up all slain before Israel. You shall hamstring their horses and burn their chariots with fire.”

⁷ So Joshua came suddenly, with all the warriors, against them by the waters of Merom, and attacked them.

⁸ The LORD delivered them into the hand of Israel, and they struck them, and chased them to great Sidon, and to Misrephoth Maim, and to the valley of Mizpah eastward. They struck them until they left them no one remaining.

³ And to the Canaanite on the east and on the west, and to the Amorite, and the Hittite, and the Perizzite, and the Jebusite in the mountains, and to the Hivite under Hermon in the land of Mizpeh.

⁴ And they went out, they and all their hosts with them, many people, even as the sand that is upon the sea-shore in multitude, with horses and chariots very numerous.

⁵ And when all these kings were met together, they came and encamped together at the waters of Merom, to fight against Israel.

⁶ And the LORD said to Joshua, Be not afraid because of them: for to-morrow about this time will I deliver them up all slain before Israel: thou shalt hough their horses, and burn their chariots with fire.

⁷ So Joshua came, and all the people of war with him, against them by the waters of Merom suddenly, and they fell upon them.

⁸ And the LORD delivered them into the hand of Israel, who smote them, and chased them to great Zidon, and to Misrephoth-maim, and to the valley of Mizpeh eastward; and they smote them, until they left to them none remaining.

⁹ And Joshua did to them as the LORD bade him: he houghed their horses, and burnt their chariots with fire.

³ and to Canaanite from the east and west, and to Amorite, and Hittite, and Perizzite, and Jebusite in the mountains, and to Hivite, that dwelled at the roots of the hill of Hermon, in the land of Mizpeh.

⁴ And all went out with their companies, a full much people, as the gravel which is in the brink of the sea, and horses, and chariots, of great multitude.

⁵ And all these kings came together at the waters of Merom, to fight against Israel.

⁶ And the Lord said to Joshua, Dread thou not them, for tomorrow, in this same hour, I shall betake all these men to be wounded in the sight of Israel; thou shalt hock the horses of them, and thou shalt burn the chariots by fire.

⁷ And Joshua came, and all his host with him, against them suddenly, at the waters of Merom, and felled on them.

⁸ And the Lord betook them into the hands of Israel; which smited them, and pursued till to Great Sidon, and the waters of Misrephothmaim, and to the field of Mizpeh, which is at the east part thereof.

⁹ And Joshua smote so all them, that he left no things of them; and he did as the Lord commanded to him; he hocked their horses, and burnt their chariots.

² forsooth to the kings of the north, that dwelled in the hilly places, and in the plain against the south of Chinneroth, and in the field places, and (in the) countries of Dor, beside the sea, (and to the kings of the north, who lived in the hill country, and those on the plain to the south of the Sea of Galilee, or Lake Galilee, and in the valley, and in the countryside of Dor, on the west,)

³ and to (the) Canaanite from the east and (the) west, and to (the) Amorite, and Hittite, and Perizzite, and (the) Jebusite in the mountains, and to (the) Hivite, that dwelled at the roots of the hill of Hermon (or who lived at the foot of Mount Hermon), in the land of Mizpeh.

⁴ And (they) all went out with their companies, a full much people, as the gravel which is in the brink of the sea, (or like the gravel, or the sand, which is at the seashore), and horses, and chariots, of great multitude.

⁵ And all these kings came together at the waters of Merom, to fight against Israel.

⁶ And the Lord said to Joshua, Dread thou not them, for tomorrow, in this same hour, I shall betake all these men to be wounded in the sight of Israel; thou shalt hock the horses of them, and thou shalt burn the chariots by fire. (And the Lord said to Joshua, Do not thou fear them, for tomorrow, at this same hour, I shall make all these men to be killed before the army of Israel; and thou shalt hock their horses, and thou shalt burn up their chariots with fire.)

⁷ And Joshua came, and all his host with him, against them suddenly, at the waters of Merom, and felled on them. (And so Joshua, and all his army, suddenly came against them, at the waters of Merom, and fell upon them.)

⁸ And the Lord betook them into the hands of (the host of) Israel; which smited them, and pursued (them) till to Great(er) Sidon, and the waters of Misrephothmaim (or and Misrephothmaim on the west), and to the field of Mizpeh, which is at the east part thereof.

⁹ And Joshua smote so all them, that he left no things of them, (or And Joshua so struck down all of them, that he left nothing of them); and he did as the Lord commanded to him; he hocked their horses, and burnt their chariots.

² and unto the kings who are on the north in the hill-country, and in the plain south of Chinneroth, and in the low country, and in the elevations of Dor, on the west,

³ to the Canaanite on the east, and on the west, and the Amorite, and the Hittite, and the Perizzite, and the Jebusite in the hill-country, and the Hivite under Hermon, in the land of Mizpeh —

⁴ and they go out, they and all their camps with them, a people numerous, as the sand which is on the sea-shore for multitude, and horse and charioteer very many;

⁵ and all these kings are met together, and they come and encamp together at the waters of Merom, to fight with Israel.

⁶ And Jehovah saith unto Joshua, 'Be not afraid of their presence, for to-morrow about this time I am giving all of them wounded before Israel; their horses thou dost hough, and their chariots burn with fire.'

⁷ And Joshua cometh, and all the people of war with him, against them by the waters of Merom suddenly, and they fall on them;

⁸ and Jehovah giveth them into the hand of Israel, and they smite them and pursue them unto the great Zidon, and unto Misrephoth-Maim, and unto the valley of Mizpeh eastward, and they smite them, till he hath not left to them a remnant;

⁹ and Joshua doth to them as Jehovah said to him; their horses he hath houghed, and their chariots burnt with fire.
