John 8:31-34

³¹So Jesus said to those Jews who had believed Him: “If you abide in my word, you really are my disciples;

³²and you will know the Truth, and the Truth will make you free.”

³³They answered and said to Him: “We are descendants of Abraham and have never been enslaved to anyone. How can you say, ‘You will be made free’?”

³⁴Jesus answered them: “I tell you most assuredly that everyone committing sin is a slave of sin.
