Isaiah 1:15-17 in English

¹⁵ And when ye spread forth your hands, I will hide mine eyes from you; yea, when ye make many prayers, I will not hear: your hands are full of blood.

¹⁶ Wash you, make you clean; put away the evil of your doings from before mine eyes; cease to do evil;

¹⁷ learn to do well; seek justice, relieve the oppressed, judge the fatherless, plead for the widow.

¹⁵ When ye stretch forth your hands, I will turn away mine eyes from you: and though ye make many supplications, I will not hearken to you; for your hands are full of blood.

¹⁶ Wash you, be clean; remove your iniquities from your souls before mine eyes; cease from your iniquities;

¹⁷ learn to do well; diligently seek judgment, deliver him that is suffering wrong, plead for the orphan, and obtain justice for the widow.

¹⁵ So, when you lift up your hands when you pray to me, I will not even look at you. Even if you pray to me very frequently, I will not listen to you, because it is as though your hands are covered with the blood of people whom you have killed.

¹⁶ Cleanse your inner beings, and become spiritually clean! Stop your evil behavior! Stop doing things that are wrong!

¹⁷ Learn to do things that are good! Try to cause people to do what is just. Help people who are ◄oppressed/treated cruelly►. Defend orphans and widows when people take them to court.”

¹⁷ Take pleasure in well-doing; let your ways be upright, keep down the cruel, give a right decision for the child who has no father, see to the cause of the widow.

¹⁵ And when ye spread forth your hands, I will hide mine eyes from you; yea, when ye make many prayers, I will not hear: your hands are full of blood.

¹⁶ Wash you, make you clean; put away the evil of your doings from before mine eyes; — cease to do evil,

¹⁷ learn to do well: seek judgment, gladden the oppressed, do justice to the fatherless, plead for the widow.

¹⁵ And when you stretch forth your hands, I will turn away my eyes from you: and when you multiply prayer, I will not hear: for your hands are full of blood.

¹⁶ Wash yourselves, be clean, take away the evil of your devices from my eyes: cease to do perversely,

¹⁷ Learn to do well: seek judgment, relieve the oppressed, judge for the fatherless, defend the widow.

¹⁵ When you hold up your hands to me in prayer, I'll look away. Even though you pray many prayers, I won't pay attention to them, because your hands are full of blood.

¹⁶ Wash yourselves and clean yourselves up. Get rid of your sins—I don't want to see them! Stop doing evil!

¹⁷ Learn to do good; strive for justice, condemn those who oppress others; support the rights of orphans, take up cases to defend widows.

¹⁵ And when you shall stretch out your hands, I wil hide mine eyes from you: and though ye make many prayers, I wil not heare: for your hands are full of blood.

¹⁶ Wash you, make you cleane: take away the euill of your workes from before mine eyes: cease to doe euill.

¹⁷ Learne to doe well: seeke iudgement, relieue the oppressed: iudge the fatherlesse and defend the widowe.

¹⁵ So when you spread out your hands in prayer, I hide my eyes from you; even though you offer many prayers, I will not listen; your hands are full of blood.

¹⁶ Wash, cleanse yourselves; remove the evil of your deeds from my sight; stop being evil;

¹⁷ learn to do good; seek justice, make straight the oppression, give justice to the fatherless, defend the widow.”

¹⁵ When you spread out your hands, I will hide my eyes from you. Yes, when you make many prayers, I will not hear. Your hands are full of blood.

¹⁶ Wash yourselves. Make yourself clean. Put away the evil of your doings from before my eyes. Cease to do evil.

¹⁷ learn ye to do well. Seek ye doom, help ye him that is oppressed, deem ye to the fatherless and motherless child, defend ye a widow.

¹⁵ And when ye stretch forth your hands, I shall turn away mine eyes from you; and when ye multiply prayer, I shall not hear (you); for why your hands be full of blood.

¹⁶ Be ye washed, be ye clean; do ye away the evil of your thoughts from mine eyes; cease ye to do waywardly,

¹⁷ learn ye to do well. Seek ye doom, help ye him that is oppressed, deem ye to the fatherless and motherless child, defend ye a widow. (learn ye to do what is right. Seek ye justice, help ye those who be oppressed, judge ye for the fatherless and the motherless child, defend ye a widow.)

¹⁵ And in your spreading forth your hands, I hide mine eyes from you, Also when ye increase prayer, I do not hear, Your hands of blood have been full.

¹⁶ Wash ye, make ye pure, Turn aside the evil of your doings, from before Mine eyes, Cease to do evil, learn to do good.

¹⁷ Seek judgment, make happy the oppressed, Judge the fatherless, strive for the widow.
