⁴ Ah sinful nation, a people laden with iniquity, a seed of evil-doers, children that deal corruptly! they have forsaken Jehovah, they have despised the Holy One of Israel, they are estranged and gone backward.

⁵ Why will ye be still stricken, that ye revolt more and more? the whole head is sick, and the whole heart faint.

⁶ From the sole of the foot even unto the head there is no soundness in it; but wounds, and bruises, and fresh stripes: they have not been closed, neither bound up, neither mollified with oil.

⁷ Your country is desolate; your cities are burned with fire; your land, strangers devour it in your presence, and it is desolate, as overthrown by strangers.

⁸ And the daughter of Zion is left as a booth in a vineyard, as a lodge in a garden of cucumbers, as a besieged city.

⁹ Except Jehovah of hosts had left unto us a very small remnant, we should have been as Sodom, we should have been like unto Gomorrah.

¹⁰ Hear the word of Jehovah, ye rulers of Sodom; give ear unto the law of our God, ye people of Gomorrah.

¹¹ What unto me is the multitude of your sacrifices? saith Jehovah: I have had enough of the burnt-offerings of rams, and the fat of fed beasts; and I delight not in the blood of bullocks, or of lambs, or of he-goats.

¹² When ye come to appear before me, who hath required this at your hand, to trample my courts?

¹³ Bring no more vain oblations; incense is an abomination unto me; new moon and sabbath, the calling of assemblies,—I cannot away with iniquity and the solemn meeting.

¹⁴ Your new moons and your appointed feasts my soul hateth; they are a trouble unto me; I am weary of bearing them.

¹⁵ And when ye spread forth your hands, I will hide mine eyes from you; yea, when ye make many prayers, I will not hear: your hands are full of blood.

¹⁶ Wash you, make you clean; put away the evil of your doings from before mine eyes; cease to do evil;

¹⁷ learn to do well; seek justice, relieve the oppressed, judge the fatherless, plead for the widow.

⁹ And if the Lord of Sabaoth had not left us a seed, we should have been as Sodoma, and we should have been made like to Gomorrha.

¹¹ Of what value to me is the abundance of your sacrifices? saith the Lord: I am full of whole-burnt-offerings of rams; and I delight not in the fat of lambs, and the blood of bulls and goats:

¹² neither shall ye come with these to appear before me; for who has required these things at your hands? Ye shall no more tread my court.

¹³ Though ye bring fine flour, it is vain; incense is an abomination to me; I cannot bear your new moons, and your sabbaths, and the great day;

¹⁴ your fasting, and rest from work, your new moons also, and your feasts my soul hates: ye have become loathsome to me; I will no more pardon your sins.

¹⁵ When ye stretch forth your hands, I will turn away mine eyes from you: and though ye make many supplications, I will not hearken to you; for your hands are full of blood.

¹⁶ Wash you, be clean; remove your iniquities from your souls before mine eyes; cease from your iniquities;

¹⁷ learn to do well; diligently seek judgment, deliver him that is suffering wrong, plead for the orphan, and obtain justice for the widow.

¹⁸ And come, let us reason together, saith the Lord: and though your sins be as purple, I will make them white as snow; and though they be as scarlet, I will make them white as wool.

¹⁹ And if ye be willing, and hearken to me, ye shall eat the good of the land:

²⁰ but if ye be not willing, nor hearken to me, a sword shall devour you: for the mouth of the Lord has spoken this.

⁴ Terrible things will happen to that sinful nation, to those people who are guilty of sinning greatly. They are a group of very evil people, who act very unjustly. They have abandoned Yahweh, the holy one of Israel; they have ◄abandoned/turned away from► him.

⁵ Why do you RHQ continue to do things for which you should be punished? Why do you continue to rebel against Yahweh? You are like MET someone whose head is badly injured and whose mind is sick/corrupt.

⁶ It is as though MET from the soles/bottoms of your feet to the tops of your heads nothing is healthy; there are only open wounds and cuts and sores that have not been cleaned or bandaged, and no olive oil has been put on them to heal them.

⁷ It is as though your country is ruined/desolate; your towns have been burned. Foreigners plunder/steal the crops in your fields while you watch; they destroy everything that they see.

⁸ The city of Jerusalem has already been abandoned, it is like SIM a shelter in a vineyard that has been abandoned by the watchmen; it is like SIM a watchman's hut in a field of melons that has been deserted. It is a city surrounded by its enemies who are waiting to attack it.

⁹ If the Commander of the armies of angels had not allowed a few of us his people to ◄survive/remain alive►, we would have all been destroyed, like the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed.

¹⁰ You leaders of Judah are as wicked as the rulers of Sodom were, and you other people in Jerusalem areas are as wicked as the people in Gomorrah were. Listen to this message from Yahweh, all of you!

¹¹ He says, “You continue to bring many sacrifices to me, but I do not RHQ want them because you do not worship me sincerely! You bring me many offerings to be completely burned on the altar, but I ◄am tired/do not want anymore► of your burning all those offerings, the burning rams and the fat from fat cattle. I am not pleased with the blood of bulls and lambs and goats that the priest pours against the altar.

¹² When you come to my temple to worship me, no one RHQ told you to trample on my courtyard while you perform all those rituals.

¹³ Stop bringing to me those offerings, because they are useless to me; I am disgusted with the incense that the priests burn. And your feasts to celebrate the new moon each month and your ◄Sabbath days/days of rest► and your other festivals— I detest them because of the wicked things that you do.

¹⁴ I SYN hate all your celebrations of each new moon and the other festivals that you celebrate each year. They are like MET a heavy burden that I am tired of carrying.

¹⁵ So, when you lift up your hands when you pray to me, I will not even look at you. Even if you pray to me very frequently, I will not listen to you, because it is as though your hands are covered with the blood of people whom you have killed.

¹⁶ Cleanse your inner beings, and become spiritually clean! Stop your evil behavior! Stop doing things that are wrong!

¹⁷ Learn to do things that are good! Try to cause people to do what is just. Help people who are ◄oppressed/treated cruelly►. Defend orphans and widows when people take them to court.”

¹⁸ Yahweh says, “You need to think about the results of what you do. Even though the guilt of your sins be as evident and as difficult to get rid of as SIM red stains on a white garment DOU, I will get rid of them completely like someone who can make that stained garment become as white as snow or wool DOU.

¹⁹ If you are willing to obey me, I will enable you to have plenty to eat.

²⁰ But, if you turn away from me and rebel against me, you will be killed by your enemies' swords. That will surely happen, because I, Yahweh, have said it.”

²¹ “ You people of Jerusalem previously faithfully worshiped only me, but now you have become like MET prostitutes who are not faithful to any husband. Previously, people there always acted justly/fairly and righteously, but now your city is full of murderers.

⁹ Unless the LORD of Armies had left to us a very small remnant, we would have been as Sodom. We would have been like Gomorrah.

¹⁰ Hear the LORD’s word, you rulers of Sodom! Listen to the law of our God, you people of Gomorrah!

¹¹ “What are the multitude of your sacrifices to me?”, says the LORD. “I have had enough of the burnt offerings of rams and the fat of fed animals. I don’t delight in the blood of bulls, or of lambs, or of male goats.

¹² When you come to appear before me, who has required this at your hand, to trample my courts?

¹³ Bring no more vain offerings. Incense is an abomination to me. New moons, Sabbaths, and convocations— I can’t stand evil assemblies.

¹⁴ My soul hates your New Moons and your appointed feasts. They are a burden to me. I am weary of bearing them.

¹⁵ When you spread out your hands, I will hide my eyes from you. Yes, when you make many prayers, I will not hear. Your hands are full of blood.

¹⁶ Wash yourselves. Make yourself clean. Put away the evil of your doings from before my eyes. Cease to do evil.

¹⁷ Learn to do well. Seek justice. Relieve the oppressed. Defend the fatherless. Plead for the widow.”

¹⁸ “Come now, and let’s reason together,” says the LORD: “Though your sins are as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow. Though they are red like crimson, they shall be as wool.

¹⁹ If you are willing and obedient, you will eat the good of the land;

²⁰ but if you refuse and rebel, you will be devoured with the sword; for the LORD’s mouth has spoken it.”

²¹ How the faithful city has become a prostitute! She was full of justice. Righteousness lodged in her, but now there are murderers.

⁴ O nation full of sin, a people weighted down with crime, a generation of evil-doers, false-hearted children: they have gone away from the Lord, they have no respect for the Holy One of Israel, their hearts are turned back from him.

⁵ Why will you have more and more punishment? why keep on in your evil ways? Every head is tired and every heart is feeble.

⁶ The body, from head to foot, is all diseased; it is a mass of open wounds, marks of blows, and broken flesh: the flow of blood has not been stopped, and no oil has been put on the wounds.

⁷ Your country has become waste; your towns are burned with fire; as for your land, it is overturned before your eyes, made waste and overcome by men from strange lands.

⁸ And the daughter of Zion has become like a tent in a vine-garden, like a watchman's house in a field of fruit, like a town shut in by armies.

⁹ If the Lord of armies had not kept some at least of us safe, we would have been like Sodom, and the fate of Gomorrah would have been ours.

¹⁰ Give ear to the word of the Lord, you rulers of Sodom; let your hearts be turned to the law of our God, you people of Gomorrah.

¹¹ What use to me is the number of the offerings which you give me? says the Lord; your burned offerings of sheep, and the best parts of fat cattle, are a weariness to me; I take no pleasure in the blood of oxen, or of lambs, or of he-goats.

¹² At whose request do you come before me, making my house unclean with your feet?

¹³ Give me no more false offerings; the smoke of burning flesh is disgusting to me, so are your new moons and Sabbaths and your holy meetings.

¹⁴ Your new moons and your regular feasts are a grief to my soul: they are a weight in my spirit; I am crushed under them.

¹⁵ And when your hands are stretched out to me, my eyes will be turned away from you: even though you go on making prayers, I will not give ear: your hands are full of blood.

¹⁶ Be washed, make yourselves clean; put away the evil of your doings from before my eyes; let there be an end of sinning;

¹⁷ Take pleasure in well-doing; let your ways be upright, keep down the cruel, give a right decision for the child who has no father, see to the cause of the widow.

¹⁸ Come now, and let us have an argument together, says the Lord: how may your sins which are red like blood be white as snow? how may their dark purple seem like wool?

¹⁹ If you will give ear to my word and do it, the good things of the land will be yours;

²⁰ But if your hearts are turned against me, I will send destruction on you by the sword; so the Lord has said.

²¹ The upright town has become untrue; there was a time when her judges gave right decisions, when righteousness had a resting-place in her, but now she is full of those who take men's lives.

⁴ Ah sinful nation, a people laden with iniquity, a seed of evildoers, children that corrupt themselves! They have forsaken Jehovah; they have despised the Holy One of Israel; they are turned away backward.

⁵ Why should ye be smitten any more? ye will revolt more and more: the whole head is sick, and the whole heart faint.

⁶ From the sole of the foot even unto the head there is no soundness in him; wounds, and weals, and open sores: they have not been dressed, nor bound up, nor mollified with oil.

⁷ Your country is desolate; your cities are burned with fire; your land, strangers eat it up in your presence, and it is desolate, as overthrown by strangers.

⁸ And the daughter of Zion is left, as a booth in a vineyard, as a night-lodge in a cucumber-garden, as a besieged city.

⁴ What a sinful nation—a people carrying such a load of guilt, an evil generation, corrupt children! They have abandoned the Lord. They have despised Israel's Holy One. They have become strangers. They have gone backwards.

⁵ Are you wanting to be punished? Are you going to continue to rebel? The whole of your head is damaged, and your heart is totally giving out.

⁶ You're injured from head to toe, bruised and sore, with open wounds that haven't been cleaned or bandaged or treated with olive oil.

⁷ Your country has been devastated, your towns burned down, your fields stripped bare by foreigners right in front of you, as they turn it all into a wasteland.

⁸ The daughter of Zion is left like a shack in a vineyard, like a hut in a cucumber field, like a city under attack.

⁹ If the Lord Almighty hadn't let a few of us survive, we would have become like Sodom and Gomorrah.

¹⁰ Listen to what the Lord has to say, you rulers of Sodom! Pay attention to the instructions of our God, you people of Gomorrah!

¹¹ What use are all your many sacrifices to me? asks the Lord. I am sick and tired of your burnt offerings of rams and the fat of sacrificial animals. I don't delight in the blood of bulls and lambs and goats!

¹² When you come to appear before me in worship, who asked you to proudly tramp around my courts?

¹³ Don't bring me any more meaningless offerings; your incense is offensive to me. Your new moon festivals and Sabbath observations and your calling of special religious meetings—I can't stand them because they're evil, as are your solemn assemblies.

¹⁴ I detest your new moon and yearly festivals with my whole being! They've become just a burden to me—I can't bear them anymore!

¹⁵ When you hold up your hands to me in prayer, I'll look away. Even though you pray many prayers, I won't pay attention to them, because your hands are full of blood.

¹⁶ Wash yourselves and clean yourselves up. Get rid of your sins—I don't want to see them! Stop doing evil!

¹⁷ Learn to do good; strive for justice, condemn those who oppress others; support the rights of orphans, take up cases to defend widows.

¹⁸ Come on, let's argue this out, says the Lord. Even though your sins are like scarlet, they will become white like snow. Even though they are red like crimson, they will become like wool.

¹⁹ If you really want this, and if you do as you're told, then you yourselves will eat the best things that the land produces.

²⁰ But if you are defiant, and if you are rebellious, you'll be killed by the sword. This is what the Lord has declared!

²¹ The city that used to be faithful has turned into a prostitute! Once she operated on principles of justice and followed what was right, but now only murderers live there.

⁴ Ah, sinfull nation, a people laden with iniquitie: a seede of the wicked, corrupt children: they haue forsaken the Lord: they haue prouoked the holy one of Israel to anger: they are gone backewarde.

⁵ Wherefore shoulde ye be smitten any more? for ye fall away more and more: the whole head is sicke, and the whole heart is heauie.

⁶ From the sole of the foote vnto the head, there is nothing whole therein, but wounds, and swelling, and sores full of corruption: they haue not bene wrapped, nor bound vp, nor mollified with oyle.

²¹ How is she become a harlot, the faithful town! she, that was full of justice; righteousness lodged therein; but now murderers.

⁷ Your land is desolate, your cities burned with fire: your land, strangers devour it in your presence, and it is made desolate, overthrown by strange nations.

⁸ The daughter of Zion shall be deserted as a tent in a vineyard, and as a storehouse of fruits in a garden of cucumbers, as a besieged city.

⁹ And if the Lord of Sabaoth had not left us a seed, we should have been as Sodom, and we should have been made like to Gomorrah.

¹⁰ Hear the word of the Lord, ye rulers of Sodom; attend to the law of God, thou people of Gomorrah.

¹⁸ And come, let us reason together, saith the Lord: and though your sins be as purple, I will make them white as snow; and though they be as scarlet, I will make them white as wool.

¹⁹ And if ye be willing, and hearken to me, ye shall eat the good of the land:

²⁰ but if ye be not willing, nor hearken to me, a sword shall devour you: for the mouth of the Lord has spoken this.

²¹ How has the faithful city Zion, once full of judgment, become a harlot! wherein righteousness lodged, but now murderers.

⁸ And the daughter of Zion is left as a shed in a vineyard, As a hut in a garden of cucumbers, As a besieged city.

¹⁶ Wash ye, make ye pure, Turn aside the evil of your doings, from before Mine eyes, Cease to do evil, learn to do good.

¹⁷ Seek judgment, make happy the oppressed, Judge the fatherless, strive for the widow.

¹⁸ Come, I pray you, and we reason, saith Jehovah, If your sins are as scarlet, as snow they shall be white, If they are red as crimson, as wool they shall be!

¹⁹ If ye are willing, and have hearkened, The good of the land ye consume,

²⁰ And if ye refuse, and have rebelled, By the sword ye are consumed, For the mouth of Jehovah hath spoken.

²¹ How hath a faithful city become a harlot? I have filled it with judgment, Righteousness lodgeth in it — now murderers.
