Isaiah 1:26-30 in English

²⁶ and I will restore thy judges as at the first, and thy counsellors as at the beginning: afterward thou shalt be called The city of righteousness, a faithful town.

²⁷ Zion shall be redeemed with justice, and her converts with righteousness.

²⁸ But the destruction of transgressors and sinners shall be together, and they that forsake Jehovah shall be consumed.

²⁹ For they shall be ashamed of the oaks which ye have desired, and ye shall be confounded for the gardens that ye have chosen.

³⁰ For ye shall be as an oak whose leaf fadeth, and as a garden that hath no water.

²⁶ And I will establish thy judges as before, and thy counsellors as at the beginning: and afterward thou shalt be called the city of righteousness, the faithful mother-city Sion.

²⁷ For her captives shall be saved with judgment, and with mercy.

²⁸ And the transgressors and the sinners shall be crushed together, and they that forsake the Lord shall be utterly consumed.

²⁹ For they shall be ashamed of their idols, which they delighted in, and they are made ashamed of the gardens which they coveted.

³⁰ For they shall be as a turpentine tree that has cast its leaves, and as a garden that has no water.

²⁶ After that happens, I will give you good judges like you had previously; you will have wise counselors like you had long ago. Then people will call your city ‘a city where people act righteously,’ a city where people are loyal to me.' ”

²⁷ Because the people of Jerusalem will do what is fair/just, their city will be restored; those who repent will be saved because of their acting righteously.

²⁸ But rebels and sinners will be crushed by Yahweh, and those who forsake him will disappear.

²⁹ You will be ashamed because you worshiped idols under the oak trees that you considered to be sacred; you will be disgraced because you worshiped idols in the gardens where you chose to worship them.

³⁰ You will be like SIM a very large tree which has withered leaves, like SIM a garden that is dried up because it has no water.

²⁹ For you will be put to shame because of the trees of your desire, and because of the gardens of your pleasure.

³⁰ For you will be like a tree whose leaves have become dry, and like a garden without water.

²⁸ But the ruin of the transgressors and of the sinners shall be together; and they that forsake Jehovah shall be consumed.

²⁹ For they shall be ashamed of the terebinths that ye have desired, and ye shall blush for the gardens that ye have chosen.

³⁰ For ye shall be as a terebinth whose leaf fadeth, and as a garden that hath no water.

²⁶ And I will restore thy judges as they were before, and thy counsellors as of old. After this thou shalt be called the city of the just, a faithful city.

²⁷ Sion shall be redeemed in judgment, and they shall bring her back in justice.

²⁸ And he shall destroy the wicked, and the sinners together: and they that have forsaken the Lord, shall be consumed.

²⁹ For they shall be confounded for the idols, to which they have sacrificed: and you shall be ashamed of the gardens which you have chosen.

³⁰ When you shall be as an oak with the leaves falling off, and as a garden without water.

²⁶ I will give you good leaders as you used to have before, wise counselors as you had in the beginning. After that you will once again be called the City of Integrity, the Faithful City.

²⁷ Zion will be rescued by justice, those who repent by doing right.

²⁸ But rebels and sinners will be destroyed together, and those who abandon the Lord will die.

²⁹ You will be ashamed about how you enjoyed your pagan worship among the oak trees; you will be embarrassed because you chose the pleasure gardens of idols.

³⁰ As a result you will become like an oak whose leaves have withered, a dried-out garden that has no water.

²⁶ And I will restore thy iudges as at the first, and thy counsellers as at the beginning: afterward shalt thou be called a citie of righteousnes, and a faithfull citie.

²⁷ Zion shall be redeemed in iudgement, and they that returne in her, in iustice.

²⁸ And the destruction of the transgressers and of the sinners shalbe together: and they that forsake the Lord, shalbe consumed.

²⁹ For they shalbe confounded for the okes, which ye haue desired, and ye shall be ashamed of the gardens, that ye haue chosen.

³⁰ For ye shalbe as an oke, whose leafe fadeth: and as a garden that hath no water.

²⁹ For they shall be ashamed of the idols, to which they made sacrifice; and ye shall be ashamed on the orchards, which ye choosed.

³⁰ When ye shall be as an oak, when the leaves fall down, and as an orchard without water.

²⁶ And I shall restore thy judges, as they were before, and thy counsellors, as in eld time. After these things thou shalt be called the city of the rightful, a faithful city, (or And after these things thou shalt be called the city of the righteous, yea, a faithful city).

²⁷ Zion shall be again-bought in doom, and they shall bring it again into rightfulness; (Zion shall be redeemed in justice, and they shall bring it back to righteousness;)

²⁸ and God shall all-break the cursed men and the sinners together, and they that forsake the Lord, shall be wasted, (or and they who desert the Lord, shall be destroyed).

²⁹ For they shall be ashamed of the idols, to which they made sacrifice; and ye shall be ashamed on the orchards, which ye choosed, (or and ye shall be ashamed of the gardens dedicated, or consecrated, to idols, which ye have planted).

³⁰ When ye shall be as an oak, when the leaves fall down, and as an orchard without water. (And ye shall be like an oak, when the leaves fall down, and like a garden without water.)

²⁶ And I give back thy judges as at the first, And thy counsellors as in the beginning, After this thou art called, 'A city of righteousness — a faithful city.'

²⁷ Zion in judgment is redeemed, And her captivity in righteousness.

²⁸ And the destruction of transgressors and sinners is together, And those forsaking Jehovah are consumed.

²⁹ For men are ashamed because of the oaks That ye have desired, And ye are confounded because of the gardens That ye have chosen.
