⁶ And he made the porch of pillars; the length thereof was fifty cubits, and the breadth thereof thirty cubits; and a porch before them; and pillars and a threshold before them.

⁷ And he made the porch of the throne where he was to judge, even the porch of judgment: and it was covered with cedar from floor to floor.

⁸ And his house where he was to dwell, the other court within the porch, was of the like work. He made also a house for Pharaoh’s daughter (whom Solomon had taken to wife), like unto this porch.

⁹ All these were of costly stones, even of hewn stone, according to measure, sawed with saws, within and without, even from the foundation unto the coping, and so on the outside unto the great court.

¹⁰ And the foundation was of costly stones, even great stones, stones of ten cubits, and stones of eight cubits.

¹⁷ There were nets of checker-work, and wreaths of chain-work, for the capitals which were upon the top of the pillars; seven for the one capital, and seven for the other capital.

¹⁸ So he made the pillars; and there were two rows round about upon the one network, to cover the capitals that were upon the top of the pillars: and so did he for the other capital.

¹⁹ And the capitals that were upon the top of the pillars in the porch were of lily-work, four cubits.

²⁰ And there were capitals above also upon the two pillars, close by the belly which was beside the network: and the pomegranates were two hundred, in rows round about upon the other capital.

²¹ And he set up the pillars at the porch of the temple: and he set up the right pillar, and called the name thereof Jachin; and he set up the left pillar, and called the name thereof Boaz.

⁶ And hanging work, two rows of brazen pomegranates, formed with net-work, hanging work, row upon row: and thus he framed the ornaments for the second chapiter.

⁷ And he set up the pillars of the porch of the temple: and he set up the one pillar, and called its name Jachum: and he set up the second pillar, and called its name Boloz.

⁸ And on the heads of the pillars he made lily-work against the porch, of four cubits,

⁹ and a chamber over both the pillars, and above the sides an addition equal to the chamber in width.

¹⁰ And he made the sea, ten cubits from one rim to the other, the same was completely circular round about: its height was five cubits, and its circumference thirty-three cubits.

¹¹ And stays underneath its rim round about compassed it ten cubits round;

¹² and its rim was as the work of the rim of a cup, a lily-flower, and the thickness of it was a span.

¹³ And there were twelve oxen under the sea; three looking to the north, and three looking to the west, and three looking to the south, and three looking to the east: and all their hinder parts were inward, and the sea was above upon them.

¹⁴ And he made ten brazen bases: five cubits was the length of one base, and four cubits the breadth of it, and its height was six cubits.

¹⁵ And this work of the bases was formed with a border to them, and there was a border between the ledges.

¹⁶ And upon their borders between the projections were lions, and oxen, and cherubs: and on the projections, even so above, and also below were the places of lions and oxen, hanging work.

¹⁷ And there were four brazen wheels to one base; and there were brazen bases, and their four sides answering to them, side pieces under the bases.

¹⁸ And there were axles in the wheels under the base. And the height of one wheel was a cubit and a half.

¹⁹ And the work of the wheels was as the work of chariot wheels: their axles, and their felloes, and the rest of their work, were all molten.

²⁰ The four side-pieces were at the four corners of each base; its shoulders were formed of the base.

²¹ And on the top of the base half a cubit was the size of it, there was a circle on the top of the base, and there was the top of its spaces and its borders: and it was open at the top of its spaces.

¹⁶ And he made two molten chapiters to put on the heads of the pillars: five cubits was the height of one chapiter, and five cubits was the height of the other chapiter.

¹⁷ And he made two ornaments of network to cover the chapiters of the pillars; even a net for one chapiter, and a net for the other chapiter.

¹⁸ And hanging work, two rows of brazen pomegranates, formed with network, hanging work, row upon row: and thus he framed the ornaments for the second chapiter. ⁶ They also built another building called the Hall of Pillars. It was 75 feet long and 45 feet wide. It had a covered porch whose roof was supported by pillars.

⁷ Then they made a building called the Hall of the Throne. It was also called the Hall of Judgment. That was where Solomon decided/judged concerning people's disputes. The walls were covered with cedar boards, from the floor to the rafters.

⁸ In the courtyard behind the Hall of Judgment they built a house for Solomon to live in that was made like the other buildings. They also built the same kind of house for his wife, who was the daughter of the king of Egypt.

⁹ All of those buildings and the walls around the palace courtyard were made from costly blocks of stone, from the foundations up to the eaves. The stones were cut at the quarry, according to the sizes that were needed, and the sides of the stones were shaped by cutting/smoothing them with saws.

¹⁰ The foundations were also made from huge blocks of stone that were prepared at the quarry. Some of them were twelve feet long and some were fifteen feet long.

¹¹ On top of the foundation stones were other blocks of stone that were cut according to the sizes they needed, and cedar beams.

¹² The palace courtyard, the inner courtyard in front of the temple, and the entrance room of the temple had walls made by putting down three layers of cut stones between each layer of cedar beams.

¹³ There was a man who lived in Tyre city whose name was Huram. He knew how to make very nice things from bronze. His father had also lived in Tyre and had also been very skilled at making things from bronze, but Huram's father was no longer living. His mother was from the tribe of Naphtali. Huram was very wise and intelligent and was very skilled at making things from bronze. Solomon invited him to come to Jerusalem and supervise all the work of making things from bronze, and Huram agreed.

¹⁵ He made two bronze pillars. Each one was 27 feet tall and 18 feet around. Each was hollow, and the walls of the pillars were 3 in./7.4 cm. thick.

¹⁶ He also made two bronze caps to be put on top of the pillars. Each cap was 7-1/2 feet tall.

¹⁷ Then he made bronze wreaths of chains to decorate the top part of each pillar.

¹⁸ He also made bronze figures that resembled pomegranates. He put two rows of pomegranates over the top parts of each pillar.

¹⁹ The top part over each pillar was shaped like a lily. Each lily leaf was six feet tall.

²⁰ These top parts were placed on a bowl-shaped section around which was draped the wreaths of chains. He made 200 figures that represented pomegranates and put them in two rows around the top/head of each pillar.

²¹ His helpers set up the pillars in front of the entrance of the temple. The pillar on the south side was named Jakin, and the pillar on the north side was named Boaz.

⁸ And the house for his living-place, the other open square in the covered room, was made in the same way. And then he made a house like it for Pharaoh's daughter, whom Solomon had taken as his wife.

⁹ All these buildings were made, inside and out, from base to crowning stone, and outside to the great walled square, of highly priced stone, cut to different sizes with cutting-instruments.

¹⁰ And the base was of great masses of highly priced stone, some ten cubits and some eight cubits square.

¹¹ Overhead were highly priced stones cut to measure, and cedar-wood.

¹² The great outer square all round was walled with three lines of squared stones and a line of cedar-wood boards, round about the open square inside the house of the Lord and the covered room of the king's house.

¹³ Then King Solomon sent and got Hiram from Tyre.

¹⁴ He was the son of a widow of the tribe of Naphtali, and his father was a man of Tyre, a worker in brass; he was full of wisdom and knowledge and an expert worker in brass. He came to King Solomon and did all his work for him.

¹⁵ He it was who made the two brass pillars; the first pillar was eighteen cubits high, and a line of twelve cubits went round it; and the second was the same.

¹⁶ And he made the two crowns to be put on the tops of the pillars, of brass made soft in the fire; the crowns were five cubits high.

¹⁷ There were nets of open-work for the crowns on the tops of the pillars, a net of open-work for one and a net of open-work for the other.

¹⁸ And he made ornaments of apples; and two lines of apples all round over the network, covering the crowns of the pillars, the two crowns in the same way.

¹⁹ The crowns on the tops of the pillars were ornamented with a design of flowers, and were four cubits across.

²⁰ And there were crowns on the two pillars near the round part by the network, and there were two hundred apples in lines round every crown.

²¹ He put up the pillars at the doorway of the Temple, naming the one on the right Jachin, and that on the left Boaz.

⁸ Solomon's own palace where he lived was in a courtyard behind the porch, made in a similar way to the Temple. He also had a palace made for Pharaoh's daughter, whom he'd married.

⁹ All these buildings were built using stone blocks that were expensive to produce. They were cut to size and trimmed with saws on the inside and outside. These stones were used from the foundation to the eaves, from the outside of the building all the way to the great courtyard.

¹⁰ The foundations were laid with very large top-quality stones, between eight and ten cubits long.

¹¹ On these were placed top-quality stones, cut to size, along with cedar timber.

¹² Around the great courtyard, the inner courtyard, and the porch of the Lord's Temple were three courses of dressed stone and a course of cedar beams.

¹³ King Solomon sent for Hiram from Tyre.

¹⁴ He was the son of a widow from the tribe of Naphtali, and his father was from Tyre, a craftsman who worked in bronze. Hiram had great expertise, understanding and being familiar with all kinds of bronze work. He came to King Solomon and carried out all that the king required.

¹⁵ He cast two columns in bronze. They were both eighteen cubits high and twelve cubits in circumference.

¹⁶ He also cast two capitals in bronze to place on top of the columns. Each capital was five cubits high.

¹⁷ He made a network of lattice of interlinked chains for both capitals, seven for each one.

¹⁸ Around the lattice network he made two rows of ornamental pomegranates to cover the capitals on the top of both the columns.

¹⁹ The capitals placed on top of columns in the porch were in the shape of lilies, four cubits high.

²⁰ On the capitals of both columns were the two hundred pomegranates in rows that encircled them, just above the rounded part that was next to the chain network.

²¹ He erected the columns at the entrance porch of the Temple. The southern column he named Jachin, and the northern column he named Boaz.

¹² and its rim was as the work of the rim of a cup, a lily flower, and the thickness of it was a span.

¹³ And there were twelve oxen under the sea; three looking to the north, and three looking to the west, and three looking to the south, and three looking to the east: and all their hinder parts were inward, and the sea was above upon them.

¹⁴ And he made ten brazen bases: five cubits was the length of one base, and four cubits the breadth of it, and its height was six cubits.

¹⁵ And this work of the bases was formed with a border to them, and there was a border between the ledges.

¹⁶ And upon their borders between the projections were lions, and oxen, and cherubs: and on the projections, even so above, and also below were the places of lions and oxen, hanging work.

¹⁷ And there were four brazen wheels to one base; and there were brazen bases, and their four sides answering to them, side pieces under the bases.

¹⁸ And there were axles in the wheels under the base. And the height of one wheel was a cubit and a half.

¹⁹ And the work of the wheels was as the work of chariot wheels: their axles, and their felloes, and the rest of their work, were all molten.

²⁰ The four side pieces were at the four corners of each base; its shoulders were formed of the base.

²¹ And on the top of the base half a cubit was the size of it, there was a circle on the top of the base, and there was the top of its spaces and its borders: and it was open at the top of its spaces.

¹⁵ For he fashioned the two pillars of bronze, eighteen cubits high apiece; and a line of twelve cubits encircled either of them.

¹⁶ He made two capitals of molten bronze to set on the tops of the pillars. The height of the one capital was five cubits, and the height of the other capital was five cubits.

¹⁷ There were nets of checker work and wreaths of chain work for the capitals which were on the top of the pillars: seven for the one capital, and seven for the other capital.

¹⁸ So he made the pillars; and there were two rows of pomegranates around the one network, to cover the capitals that were on the top of the pillars; and he did so for the other capital.

¹⁹ The capitals that were on the top of the pillars in the porch were of lily work, four cubits.

²⁰ There were capitals above also on the two pillars, close by the belly which was beside the network. There were two hundred pomegranates in rows around the other capital.

²¹ He set up the pillars at the porch of the temple. He set up the right pillar and called its name Jachin; and he set up the left pillar and called its name Boaz.

⁶ He made the hall of pillars. Its length was fifty cubits and its width thirty cubits, with a porch before them, and pillars and a threshold before them.

⁷ He made the porch of the throne where he was to judge, even the porch of judgement; and it was covered with cedar from floor to floor.

⁸ His house where he was to dwell, the other court within the porch, was of the same construction. He made also a house for Pharaoh’s daughter (whom Solomon had taken as wife), like this porch.

⁹ All these were of costly stones, even of stone cut according to measure, sawed with saws, inside and outside, even from the foundation to the coping, and so on the outside to the great court.

¹⁰ The foundation was of costly stones, even great stones, stones of ten cubits and stones of eight cubits.

¹¹ Above were costly stones, even cut stone, according to measure, and cedar wood.

¹² The great court around had three courses of cut stone with a course of cedar beams, like the inner court of the LORD’s house and the porch of the house.

¹³ King Solomon sent and brought Hiram out of Tyre.

¹⁴ He was the son of a widow of the tribe of Naphtali, and his father was a man of Tyre, a worker in bronze; and he was filled with wisdom and understanding and skill to work all works in bronze. He came to king Solomon and performed all his work.

⁷ Also he made a porch of the king’s seat, in which the seat of doom was; and he covered it with wood of cedar, from the pavement unto the highness.

⁸ And a little house, in which he sat to deem, was in the middle porch, by like work. Also Solomon made an house to the daughter of Pharaoh, whom he had wedded, by such work, by what manner work he made and this porch.

⁹ He made all things of precious stones, that were sawed at a rule and measure, both within and without-forth, from the foundament unto the highness of the walls, and within and till to the great street, either courtyard.

¹⁰ And the foundaments were of precious stones, great stones of ten, either of eight cubits;

¹¹ and precious stones hewn of even measure were above; in like manner and of cedar.

¹² And the greater court, either void space, was round, of three orders of hewn stones, and of one order of hewn cedar beams; also and in the inner large street of the house of the Lord, and in the porch of the house of the Lord.

¹³ Also king Solomon sent, and brought from Tyre, Hiram,

¹⁴ the son of a woman widow, of the lineage of Naphtali, of the father of a man of Tyre, a craftsman of brass, and full of wisdom, and understanding, and doctrine, or teaching, to make all work of brass. And when he had come to king Solomon, he made all his work.

¹⁵ And he made two pillars of brass, one pillar of eighteen cubits of height; and a line of twelve cubits compassed ever either pillar.

¹⁶ Also he made two pommels or capitals, molten of brass, which were set or put on the heads of the pillars; one pommel of five cubits of height, and the tother pommel of five cubits of height;

¹⁷ and by the manner of a net, and of chains knit together to themselves, by wonderful work. Ever either pommel of the pillars was molten; seven works like nets of orders were in one pommel, and seven works like nets in the tother pommel.

¹⁸ And he made perfectly the pillars, and two orders about all the works like nets, that those or they should cover the pommels, which were upon the highness of the pomegranates; in the same manner he did also to the second pommel.

¹⁹ And the pommels, that were upon the heads of the pillars in the porch, were made as by work of lily, of four cubits;

²⁰ and again other pommels in the highness of the pillars above, by the measure of the pillar, set against the works like nets; and two hundred orders of pomegranates were in the compass of the second pommel.

²¹ And he set the two pillars in the porch of the temple; and when he had set the right half pillar, he called it by name Jachin, that is, steadfast; in like manner he raised up the second pillar, and he called the name thereof Boaz, that is, strength.

⁶ And he made a porch of pillars of fifty cubits of length, and of thirty cubits of breadth; and he made another porch in the face of the greater porch; and he made (the) pillars, and the pommels on the pillars. (And he made a colonnade of pillars which was fifty cubits in length, and thirty cubits in breadth; and he made another colonnade in front of the greater colonnade; and so he made the pillars, and the capitals on the pillars.)

⁷ Also he made a porch of the king’s seat, in which the seat of doom was; and he covered it with wood of cedar, from the pavement unto the highness. (And he made a hall for the king’s throne, in which was the throne of judgement; and he covered all the hall with cedar wood, from the floor to the ceiling.)

⁸ And a little house, in which he sat to deem, was in the middle porch, by like work. Also Solomon made an house to the daughter of Pharaoh, whom he had wedded, by such work, by what manner work he made and this porch. (And his own house, where he would live, had another hall within a colonnade, by like work. And Solomon made a house for Pharaoh’s daughter, whom he had wedded, in the same manner of work with which he had made this hall.)

⁹ He made all things of precious stones, that were sawed at a rule and measure, both within and withoutforth, from the foundament unto the highness of the walls (or from the foundation to the top of the walls), and within and till to the great street, either court (yard).

¹⁰ And the foundaments were of precious stones, great stones of ten, either of eight cubits; (And the foundations were made out of precious stones, great stones of eight or ten cubits;)

¹¹ and precious stones hewn of even measure were above; in like manner and of cedar. (and above were precious stones, hewn, or cut, of equal measure; and cedar, in like manner.)

¹² And the greater court, either void space, was round, of three orders of hewn stones, and of one order of hewn cedar beams; also and in the inner large street of the house of the Lord, and in the porch of the house of the Lord. (And the great courtyard all around had three rows of hewn stones, and one row of hewn cedar beams; as did the inner courtyard of the House of the Lord, and the vestibule of the House of the Lord.)

¹³ Also king Solomon sent, and brought from Tyre, Hiram, (And King Solomon sent for, and brought there Hiram from Tyre,)

¹⁴ the son of a woman widow (or the son of a widow woman), of the lineage of Naphtali, of the father of a man of Tyre, a craftsman of brass, and full of wisdom, and understanding, and doctrine, or teaching, to make all work of brass. And when he had come to king Solomon, he made all his work.

¹⁵ And he made two pillars of brass, one pillar of eighteen cubits of height; and a line of twelve cubits compassed ever either pillar. (And he made two bronze pillars, each pillar eighteen cubits in height; and it took a cord twelve cubits long to go all around either pillar.)

¹⁶ Also he made two pommels, molten of brass, which were set on the heads of the pillars; one pommel of five cubits of height, and the tother pommel of five cubits of height; (And he cast two bronze capitals, which were set on the tops of the pillars; each capital was five cubits in height;)

¹⁷ and by the manner of a net, and of chains knit together to themselves, by wonderful work. Ever either pommel of the pillars was molten; seven works like nets of orders were in one pommel, and seven works like nets in the tother pommel. (and they were decorated with networks of chains knit together. Each capital for the pillars was cast; and seven rows of networks were on each capital.)

¹⁸ And he made perfectly the pillars, and two orders about all the works like nets, that those should cover the pommels, which were upon the highness of the pomegranates; in the same manner he did also to the second pommel. (And he finished the pillars, with two rows of pomegranates, all around the tops of the pillars, above the networks; he did this in the same manner for each of the capitals.)

¹⁹ And the pommels, that were upon the heads of the pillars in the porch, were made as by work of lily, of four cubits; (And the capitals, that were on the tops of the pillars in the vestibule, were shaped like lilies, four cubits in height;)

²⁰ and again other pommels in the highness of the pillars above, by the measure of the pillar, set against the works like nets; and two hundred orders of pomegranates were in the compass of the second pommel. (and on the capitals, on the tops of the two bronze pillars, above the networks, were two hundred pomegranates in two rows, around each capital.)

²¹ And he set the two pillars in the porch of the temple; and when he had set the right half pillar, he called it by name Jachin, that is, steadfast; in like manner he raised up the second pillar, and he called the name thereof Boaz, that is, strength. (And he placed the two pillars in the vestibule of the Temple; and when he had raised up the right-hand pillar, he named it Jachin, that is, Steadfast; and in like manner he raised up the left-hand pillar, and he named it Boaz, that is, Strength.)

⁶ And the porch of the pillars he hath made; fifty cubits its length, and thirty cubits its breadth, and the porch is before them, and pillars and a thick place are before them.

⁷ And the porch of the throne where he judgeth — the porch of judgment — he hath made, and it is covered with cedar from the floor unto the floor.

⁸ As to his house where he dwelleth, the other court is within the porch — as this work it hath been; and a house he maketh for the daughter of Pharaoh — whom Solomon hath taken — like this porch.

⁹ All these are of precious stone, according to the measures of hewn work, sawn with a saw, within and without, even from the foundation unto the coping, and at the outside, unto the great court.

¹⁰ And the foundation is of precious stone, great stones, stones of ten cubits, and stones of eight cubits;

¹¹ and above are precious stone, according to the measures of hewn work, and cedar;

¹² and the great court round about is three rows of hewn work, and a row of cedar-beams, even for the inner court of the house of Jehovah, and for the porch of the house.

¹³ And king Solomon sendeth and taketh Hiram out of Tyre —

¹⁴ he is son of a woman, a widow, of the tribe of Naphtali, and his father a man of Tyre, a worker in brass, and he is filled with the wisdom and the understanding, and the knowledge to do all work in brass — and he cometh unto king Solomon, and doth all his work.

¹⁵ And he formeth the two pillars of brass; eighteen cubits is the height of the one pillar, and a cord of twelve cubits doth compass the second pillar.

¹⁶ And two chapiters he hath made to put on the tops of the pillars, cast in brass; five cubits the height of the one chapiter, and five cubits the height of the second chapiter.

¹⁷ Nets of net-work, wreaths of chain-work are for the chapiters that are on the top of the pillars, seven for the one chapiter, and seven for the second chapiter.

¹⁸ And he maketh the pillars, and two rows round about on the one net-work, to cover the chapiters that are on the top, with the pomegranates, and so he hath made for the second chapiter.

¹⁹ And the chapiters that are on the top of the pillars are of lily-work in the porch, four cubits;

²⁰ and the chapiters on the two pillars also above, over-against the protuberance that is beside the net; and the pomegranates are two hundred, in rows round about on the second chapiter.

²¹ And he raiseth up the pillars for the porch of the temple, and he raiseth up the right pillar, and calleth its name Jachin, and he raiseth up the left pillar, and calleth its name Boaz;
