³ And the porch before the temple of the house, twenty cubits was the length thereof, according to the breadth of the house; and ten cubits was the breadth thereof before the house.

⁴ And for the house he made windows of fixed lattice-work.

⁵ And against the wall of the house he built stories round about, against the walls of the house round about, both of the temple and of the oracle; and he made side-chambers round about.

⁶ The nethermost story was five cubits broad, and the middle was six cubits broad, and the third was seven cubits broad; for on the outside he made offsets in the wall of the house round about, that the beams should not have hold in the walls of the house.

⁷ And the house, when it was in building, was built of stone made ready at the quarry; and there was neither hammer nor axe nor any tool of iron heard in the house, while it was in building.

⁸ The door for the middle side-chambers was in the right side of the house: and they went up by winding stairs into the middle story, and out of the middle into the third.

⁹ So he built the house, and finished it; and he covered the house with beams and planks of cedar.

¹⁶ And he built twenty cubits on the hinder part of the house with boards of cedar from the floor unto the walls of the ceiling: he built them for it within, for an oracle, even for the most holy place.

¹⁷ And the house, that is, the temple before the oracle, was forty cubits long.

¹⁸ And there was cedar on the house within, carved with knops and open flowers: all was cedar; there was no stone seen.

¹⁹ And he prepared an oracle in the midst of the house within, to set there the ark of the covenant of Jehovah.

²⁰ And within the oracle was a space of twenty cubits in length, and twenty cubits in breadth, and twenty cubits in the height thereof; and he overlaid it with pure gold: and he covered the altar with cedar.

⁷ And the house was built in the construction of it with rough hewn stones: and there was not heard in the house in the building of it hammer or axe, or any iron tool.

⁸ And the porch of the under side was below the right wing of the house, and there was a winding ascent into the middle chamber, and from the middle to the third story.

⁹ So he built the house and finished it; and he made the ceiling of the house with cedars.

¹⁰ And he made the partitions through all the house, each five cubits high, and enclosed each partition with cedar boards.

¹⁵ And he framed the walls of the house within with cedar boards, from the floor of the house and on to the inner walls and to the beams: he lined the parts enclosed with boards within, and compassed the inward parts of the house with planks of fir.

¹⁶ And he built the twenty cubits from the top of the wall, one side from the floor to the beams, and he made it from the oracle to the most holy place.

¹⁷ And the temple was forty cubits in extent,

¹⁹ in front of the oracle in the midst of the house within, in order to put there the ark of the covenant of the Lord.

²⁰ The length was twenty cubits, and the breadth was twenty cubits, and the height of it was twenty cubits. And he covered it with perfect gold, and he made an altar

³ The entrance room was 15 feet long and 30 feet wide, just as wide as the main part of the temple.

⁴ There were windows in the walls of the temple. The windows were narrower on the outside than on the inside.

⁵ Against the two sides and against the back of the temple walls, they built a structure/building that had rooms in it. This structure had three levels/stories and each was 7-1/2 feet high.

⁶ Each room in the lowest level/story was 7-1/2 feet wide. Each room in the middle level/story was nine feet wide. The rooms in the top level/story were 10-1/2 feet wide. The wall of the temple at the top level/story was thinner than the wall at the middle level/story, and the wall of the middle level/story was thinner than the wall at the bottom level/story. The result was that the rooms could be supported by the wall underneath them, and did not require wooden beams to support them.

⁷ The huge stones for the foundation of the temple were cut and shaped at the quarry to become very smooth. The result was that while the workers were building the temple there was no noise, because they did not use hammers or chisels or any other iron tools there.

⁸ The entrance to the bottom level/story of that attached structure was on the south side of the temple. There were stairs from the bottom level/story to the middle and top level/story.

⁹ So Solomon's workers finished building the framework of the temple. They made the ceiling from cedar beams and boards.

¹⁰ They built the structure that had three levels/stories, that was against the walls of the temple. Each level/story was 7-1/2 feet high, and was joined to the temple with cedar beams.

¹¹ Then Yahweh said this to Solomon:

¹² “ I want to tell you about this temple that you are building. If you continually obey all my statutes and laws and commands, I will do for you what I promised to your father David.

¹³ I will live among the Israeli people, in this temple, and I will never abandon them.”

¹⁴ Solomon's workers finished building the temple.

¹⁵ On the inside, they lined/covered the walls with cedar boards. They lined/covered them from the floor to the ceiling. They made the floor from cypress boards.

¹⁶ Inside the back part of the temple they built an inner room, called the Very Holy Place. It was 30 feet long. All the walls of this room were lined with cedar boards.

¹⁷ In front of the Very Holy Place there was a room that was 60 feet long.

¹⁸ The cedar boards on the walls inside the temple were decorated with carvings of gourds and flowers. The walls were completely covered with cedar boards, with the result that the stones of the walls behind them could not be seen.

¹⁹ At the back of the temple they made the Very Holy Place, where the Sacred Chest would be put.

²⁰ That room was 30 feet long, 30 feet wide, and 30 feet high. They covered the walls with very thin sheets of pure gold. For burning incense they also made an altar of cedar boards.

⁶ The lowest line of them being five cubits wide, the middle six cubits wide and the third seven cubits; for there was a space all round the outside walls of the house so that the boards supporting the rooms did not have to be fixed in the walls of the house.

⁷ (And the stones used in the building of the house were squared at the place where they were cut out; there was no sound of hammer or axe or any iron instrument while they were building the house.)

⁸ The door to the lowest side rooms was in the right side of the house; and they went up by twisting steps into the middle rooms, and from the middle into the third.

⁹ So he put up the house and made it complete, roofing it with boards of cedar-wood.

¹⁰ And he put up the line of side rooms against the walls of the house, fifteen cubits high, resting against the house on boards of cedar-wood.

¹¹ (And the word of the Lord came to Solomon, saying,

¹² About this house which you are building: if you will keep my laws and give effect to my decisions and be guided by my rules, I will give effect to my word which I gave to David your father.

¹³ And I will be ever among the children of Israel, and will not go away from my people.

¹⁴ So Solomon made the building of the house complete.)

¹⁵ The walls of the house were covered inside with cedar-wood boards; from the floor to the roof of the house they were covered inside with wood; and the floor was covered with boards of cypress-wood.

¹⁶ And at the back of the house a further space of twenty cubits was shut in with boards of cedar-wood, for the inmost room.

¹⁷ And the house, that is, the Temple, in front of the holy place was forty cubits long.

¹⁸ (All the inside of the house was cedar-wood, ornamented with designs of buds and flowers; no stonework was to be seen inside.)

¹⁹ And he made ready an inmost room in the middle of the house, in which to put the ark of the agreement of the Lord.

²⁰ And the inmost room was twenty cubits square and twenty cubits high, plated over with clear gold, and he made an altar of cedar-wood, plating it with gold.

³ And the porch, in front of the temple of the house, was twenty cubits in length, in front of the house broadways, and ten cubits was its breadth, in front of the house.

⁴ And for the house he made closed windows with fixed lattices.

⁵ And against the wall of the house he built floors round about, against the walls of the house, round about the temple and the oracle; and he made side-chambers round about.

¹⁵ And he built the walls of the house within with boards of cedar, from the floor of the house to the walls of the roof; he overlaid them on the inside with wood, and overlaid the floor of the house with boards of cypress.

¹⁸ And all the house was covered within with cedar, having the turnings, and the joints thereof artfully wrought and carvings projecting out: all was covered with boards of cedar: and no stone could be seen in the wall at all.

¹⁹ And he made the oracle in the midst of the house, in the inner part, to set there the ark of the covenant of the Lord.

²⁰ Now the oracle was twenty cubits in length, and twenty cubits in breadth, and twenty cubits in height. And he covered and overlaid it with most pure gold. And the altar also he covered with cedar.

³ The entrance room at the front of the Temple was twenty cubits wide. It ran the whole width of the Temple and projected out ten cubits in front of the Temple.

⁴ He had latticed windows made to be placed high up in the Temple.

⁵ He also had a structure built against the outer wall of the Temple, both the outer and the inner sanctuary, to provide a series of side rooms.

⁶ The ground floor measured five cubits wide, the first floor six cubits, and the second floor seven cubits. In addition he had offset ledges placed all the way around the outside, so that beams would not have to be inserted into the Temple walls.

⁷ When the Temple was built the stones were finished at the quarry so that no noise from any hammer, ax, or any iron tool was heard in the Temple during construction.

⁸ The entrance to the ground floor was on the south side of the Temple. Stairs led to the first floor, and then on to the second floor.

⁹ So Solomon finished building the Temple, covering it with a roof made of cedar rafters and planks.

¹⁰ He built the external structure along the whole of the Temple. It was five cubits high, joined to the Temple with cedar joists.

¹¹ The Lord sent this message to Solomon, telling him,

¹² “About this Temple you are building: if you follow what I have said, fulfilling my requirements and keeping my commandments in what you do, I will keep the promise I made to your father David through you.

¹³ I will live among the Israelites and will not abandon Israel, my people.”

¹⁴ Solomon finished building the Temple.

¹⁵ He lined the walls with cedar panels from floor to ceiling and he covered the floor of the Temple with cypress boards.

¹⁶ He sectioned off twenty cubits at the rear of the Temple with boards of cedar from floor to ceiling, making an inner sanctuary as the Most Holy Place.

¹⁷ The main Temple in front of this room measured forty cubits long.

¹⁸ The cedar panels inside the Temple were decorated with carvings of gourds and open flowers. Everything was lined with cedar—none of the stone was visible.

¹⁹ He also had the inner sanctuary made within the Temple where the Ark of the Lord's Agreement would be placed.

²⁰ The inner sanctuary measured twenty cubits long, twenty cubits wide, and twenty cubits high. He had the interior covered with a coating with pure gold, as well as the altar of cedar.

³ And the porch before the Temple of the house was twentie cubites long according to the breadth of the house, and ten cubites broade before the house.

⁴ And in the house he made windowes, broad without, and narrowe within.

⁵ And by the wall of the house hee made galleries round about, euen by the walles of the house round about the Temple and the oracle, and made chambers round about.

⁶ The nethermost gallerie was fiue cubites broade, and the middlemost sixe cubites broade, and the third seuen cubites broade: for he made restes round about without the house, that the beames should not be fastened in the walles of the house.

⁷ And when the house was built, it was built of stone perfite, before it was brought, so that there was neither hammer, nor axe, nor any toole of yron heard in the house, while it was in building.

⁸ The doore of the middle chamber was in the right side of the house, and men went vp with winding stayres into the middlemost, and out of the middlemost into the third.

¹⁰ And he built the galleries vpon al the wall of the house of fiue cubites height, and they were ioyned to the house with beames of cedar.

¹⁶ And he built the twenty cubits from the top of the wall, one side from the floor to the beams, and he made it from the oracle to the most holy place.

¹⁹ in front of the oracle in the midst of the house within, in order to put there the ark of the covenant of the Lord.

³ The portico in front of the temple's main hall was twenty cubits in length, equal to the width of the temple, and ten cubits deep in front of the temple.

¹⁵ He built the walls of the house within with boards of cedar; from the floor of the house to the walls of the ceiling, he covered them on the inside with wood. He covered the floor of the house with cypress boards.

¹⁶ He built twenty cubits of the back part of the house with boards of cedar from the floor to the ceiling. He built this within, for an inner sanctuary, even for the most holy place.

¹⁷ In front of the temple sanctuary was forty cubits long.

¹⁸ There was cedar on the house within, carved with buds and open flowers. All was cedar. No stone was visible.

¹⁹ He prepared an inner sanctuary in the middle of the house within, to set the ark of the LORD’s covenant there.

²⁰ Within the inner sanctuary was twenty cubits in length, and twenty cubits in width, and twenty cubits in its height. He overlaid it with pure gold. He covered the altar with cedar.

³ The porch in front of the temple of the house had a length of twenty cubits, which was along the width of the house. Ten cubits was its width in front of the house.

⁴ He made windows of fixed lattice work for the house.

⁵ Against the wall of the house, he built floors all around, against the walls of the house all around, both of the temple and of the inner sanctuary; and he made side rooms all around.

⁶ The lowest floor was five cubits wide, and the middle was six cubits wide, and the third was seven cubits wide; for on the outside he made offsets in the wall of the house all around, that the beams should not be inserted into the walls of the house.

⁷ The house, when it was under construction, was built of stone prepared at the quarry; and no hammer or axe or any tool of iron was heard in the house while it was under construction.

⁸ The door for the middle side rooms was in the right side of the house. They went up by winding stairs into the middle floor, and out of the middle into the third.

⁹ So he built the house and finished it; and he covered the house with beams and planks of cedar.

¹⁰ He built the floors all along the house, each five cubits high; and they rested on the house with timbers of cedar.

¹¹ The LORD’s word came to Solomon, saying,

¹² “Concerning this house which you are building, if you will walk in my statutes, and execute my ordinances, and keep all my commandments to walk in them, then I will establish my word with you, which I spoke to David your father.

¹³ I will dwell amongst the children of Israel, and will not forsake my people Israel.”

¹⁴ So Solomon built the house and finished it.

⁴ And Solomon made in the temple narrow windows withoutforth and large within.

⁵ And he builded on the wall of the temple, buildings of boards by compass, in the walls of the house, by compass of the temple, and of God’s answering place; and he made the sides in the compass.

⁶ The building of boards, that was under, had five cubits of breadth; and the middle building of boards was of six cubits of breadth; and the third building of boards was having seven cubits of breadth. And he put beams in the house by compass withoutforth, that those cleaved not to the walls of the temple.

⁷ And when the house was builded, it was built of perfectly hewn stones; and hammer, and ax, and all thing made of iron, were not heard in the house, while it was in building.

⁸ The door of the middle side was in the wall of the right half of the house; and by a vice men went up into the middle solar, and from the middle solar into the third solar.

⁹ And Solomon builded the house, and ended it. And Solomon covered the house with couples of cedar,

¹⁰ and he builded a building of boards over all the house, by five cubits of height, and covered the house with cedar wood.

¹¹ And the word of the Lord was made to Solomon, and said,

¹² This is the house, which thou buildest; if thou goest in my behests, and doest my dooms, and keepest all my commandments, and goest by those or them, I shall make steadfast my word to thee, which word I spake to David, thy father;

¹³ and I shall dwell in the midst of the sons of Israel, and I shall not forsake my people Israel.

¹⁴ Therefore Solomon builded the house, and ended it;

¹⁵ and he builded the walls of the house within with boards of cedar, from the pavement of the house unto the highness of the wall, and unto the couples; and he covered them with wood of cedar within; and he covered the pavement of the house with boards of box wood.

¹⁶ And he builded a wall of boards of cedar of twenty cubits at the hinder part of the temple, from the pavement unto the higher parts; and he made the inner house of God’s answering place into the holy of holy things.

¹⁷ And that temple before the doors of God’s answering place was of forty cubits.

¹⁸ And all the house within was clothed with cedar, and had his smoothnesses, and his joinings made subtly, and engravings appearing above; all things were clothed with boards of cedar, and utterly a stone might not appear in the wall.

¹⁹ And Solomon made God’s answering place in the midst of the house, in the inner part, that he should set or put there the ark of bond of peace of the Lord.

²⁰ And God’s answering place had twenty cubits of length, and twenty cubits of breadth, and twenty cubits of height; and he covered, and clothed it with purest gold; but also he clothed the altar with cedar.

³ And a porch was before the temple of twenty cubits of length, by the measure of the breadth of the temple; and the porch had ten cubits of breadth, before the face of the temple. (And there was a vestibule in front of the Temple, twenty cubits in length, equal to the measure of the breadth of the Temple; and the vestibule was ten cubits deep, projecting out in front of the Temple.)

⁴ And Solomon made in the temple narrow windows withoutforth and large within.

⁵ And he builded on the wall of the temple, buildings of boards by compass, in the walls of the house, by compass of the temple, and of God’s answering place; and he made the sides in the compass. (And he made chambers, or rooms, out of boards, against the walls of the Temple, all around the Temple, and the Inner Temple, that is, the Most Holy Place, or the Holy of Holies, on the sides, and at the back.)

⁶ The building of boards, that was under, had five cubits of breadth; and the middle building of boards was of six cubits of breadth; and the third building of boards was having seven cubits of breadth, (or The bottom story, made out of boards, was five cubits in breadth; and the middle story, also made out of boards, was six cubits in breadth; and the third story, also made out of boards, was seven cubits in breadth). And he put beams in the house by compass withoutforth, (so) that those cleaved not to the walls of the temple.

⁷ And when the house was builded, it was built of perfect(ly) hewn stones; and hammer, and ax, and all thing made of iron, were not heard in the house, while it was in building (or while it was being built).

⁸ The door of the middle side was in the wall of the right half of the house; and by a vice men went up into the middle solar, and from the middle solar into the third solar. (The door for the bottom story was in the wall for the right side of the House of the Lord; and by a stairway, men went up to the middle story, and from the middle story to the third story.)

⁹ And Solomon builded the house, and ended it. And Solomon covered the house with couples of cedar, (And Solomon built the House, and finished it. And he braced the House with cedar couplings,)

¹⁰ and he builded a building of boards over all the house, by five cubits of height, and covered the house with cedar wood. (and he built a building out of boards all around the sides of the House, or the Temple, five cubits in height, and joined it to the Temple with cedar beams.)

¹¹ And the word of the Lord was made to Solomon, and said,

¹² This is the house, which thou buildest; if thou goest in my behests, and doest my dooms, and keepest all my commandments, and goest by those, I shall make steadfast my word to thee, which word I spake to David, thy father; (This is the House, which thou should built; and then if thou followest my commands, and doest my judgements, and obeyest all my commandments, and goest by them, I shall make steadfast my word to thee, which word I spoke to thy father David;)

¹³ and I shall dwell in the midst of the sons of Israel, and I shall not forsake my people Israel. (and I shall live in the midst of the Israelites, and I shall never desert my people Israel.)

¹⁴ Therefore Solomon builded the house, and ended it; (And so Solomon built the House, and finished it;)

¹⁵ and he builded the walls of the house within with boards of cedar, from the pavement of the house unto the highness of the wall, and unto the couples; and he covered them with wood of cedar within; and he covered the pavement of the house with boards of box. (and he built the walls of the House within out of cedar boards, from the floor of the House unto the top of the wall, and unto the couplings; and he covered them with cedar wood within; and he covered the floor of the House with fir, or pine, boards.)

¹⁶ And he builded a wall of boards of cedar of twenty cubits at the hinder part of the temple, from the pavement unto the higher parts; and he made the inner house of God’s answering place into the holy of holy things, (or and he made the Inner Temple, that is, the Most Holy Place, or the Holy of Holies).

¹⁷ And that temple before the doors of God’s answering place was of forty cubits. (And the chamber in front of the doors of the Inner Temple was forty cubits in length.)

¹⁸ And all the house within was clothed with cedar, and had his smoothnesses, and his joinings made subtly, and gravings appearing above; all things were clothed with boards of cedar, and utterly a stone might not appear in the wall. (And all the House within was covered with cedar, and had carvings of knops, or of gourds, and open flowers; everything was covered with cedar boards, and no stone appeared, or was visible, utterly anywhere on the wall.)

¹⁹ And Solomon made God’s answering place in the midst of the house, in the inner part, that he should set there the ark of (the) bond of peace of the Lord (or where he would put the Ark of the Covenant of the Lord).

²⁰ And God’s answering place had twenty cubits of length, and twenty cubits of breadth, and twenty cubits of height, (or And the Inner Temple was twenty cubits in length, and twenty cubits in breadth, and twenty cubits in height); and he covered (it), and clothed it with purest gold; but also he clothed the altar with cedar.

³ As to the porch on the front of the temple of the house, twenty cubits is its length on the front of the breadth of the house; ten by the cubit is its breadth on the front of the house;

⁴ and he maketh for the house windows of narrow lights.

⁵ And he buildeth against the wall of the house a couch round about, even the walls of the house round about, of the temple and of the oracle, and maketh sides round about.

⁶ The lowest couch, five by the cubit is its breadth; and the middle, six by the cubit is its breadth; and the third, seven by the cubit is its breadth, for withdrawings he hath put to the house round about, without — not to lay hold on the walls of the house.

⁷ And the house, in its being built, of perfect stone brought thither hath been built, and hammer, and the axe — any instrument of iron — was not heard in the house, in its being built.

⁸ The opening of the middle side is at the right shoulder of the house, and with windings they go up on the middle one, and from the middle one unto the third.

⁹ And he buildeth the house, and completeth it, and covereth the house with beams and rows of cedars.

¹⁰ And he buildeth the couch against all the house, five cubits is its height, and it taketh hold of the house by cedar-wood.

¹¹ And the word of Jehovah is unto Solomon, saying,

¹² 'This house that thou art building — if thou dost walk in My statutes, and My judgments dost do, yea, hast done all My commands, to walk in them, then I have established My word with thee, which I spake unto David thy father,

¹³ and have tabernacled in the midst of the sons of Israel, and do not forsake My people Israel.'

¹⁴ And Solomon buildeth the house and completeth it;

¹⁵ and he buildeth the walls of the house within with beams of cedar, from the floor of the house unto the walls of the ceiling; he hath overlaid with wood the inside, and covereth the floor of the house with ribs of fir.

¹⁶ And he buildeth the twenty cubits on the sides of the house with ribs of cedar, from the floor unto the walls; and he buildeth for it within, for the oracle, for the holy of holies.

¹⁷ And forty by the cubit was the house, it is the temple before it.

¹⁸ And the cedar for the house within is carvings of knobs and openings of flowers; the whole is cedar, there is not a stone seen.

¹⁹ And the oracle in the midst of the house within he hath prepared, to put there the ark of the covenant of Jehovah.

²⁰ And before the oracle is twenty cubits in length, and twenty cubits in breadth, and twenty cubits is its height; and he overlayeth it with gold refined, and overlayeth the altar with cedar.
