Mark 5:8-40 in American Standard Version (1901)

8 For he said unto him, Come forth, thou unclean spirit, out of the man.
9 And he asked him, What is thy name? And he saith unto him, My name is Legion; for we are many.
10 And he besought him much that he would not send them away out of the country.
11 Now there was there on the mountain side a great herd of swine feeding.
12 And they besought him, saying, Send us into the swine, that we may enter into them.
13 And he gave them leave. And the unclean spirits came out, and entered into the swine: and the herd rushed down the steep into the sea, in number about two thousand; and they were drowned in the sea.
14 And they that fed them fled, and told it in the city, and in the country. And they came to see what it was that had come to pass.
15 And they come to Jesus, and behold him that was possessed with demons sitting, clothed and in his right mind, even him that had the legion: and they were afraid.
16 And they that saw it declared unto them how it befell him that was possessed with demons, and concerning the swine.
17 And they began to beseech him to depart from their borders.
18 And as he was entering into the boat, he that had been possessed with demons besought him that he might be with him.
19 And he suffered him not, but saith unto him, Go to thy house unto thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and how he had mercy on thee.
20 And he went his way, and began to publish in Decapolis how great things Jesus had done for him: and all men marvelled.
21 And when Jesus had crossed over again in the boat unto the other side, a great multitude was gathered unto him; and he was by the sea.
22 And there cometh one of the rulers of the synagogue, Jaïrus by name; and seeing him, he falleth at his feet,
23 and beseecheth him much, saying, My little daughter is at the point of death: I pray thee, that thou come and lay thy hands on her, that she may be made whole, and live.
24 And he went with him; and a great multitude followed him, and they thronged him.
25 And a woman, who had an issue of blood twelve years,
26 and had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse,
27 having heard the things concerning Jesus, came in the crowd behind, and touched his garment.
28 For she said, If I touch but his garments, I shall be made whole.
29 And straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed of her plague.
30 And straightway Jesus, perceiving in himself that the power proceeding from him had gone forth, turned him about in the crowd, and said, Who touched my garments?
31 And his disciples said unto him, Thou seest the multitude thronging thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me?
32 And he looked round about to see her that had done this thing.
33 But the woman fearing and trembling, knowing what had been done to her, came and fell down before him, and told him all the truth.
34 And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace, and be whole of thy plague.
35 While he yet spake, they come from the ruler of the synagogue’s house, saying, Thy daughter is dead: why troublest thou the Teacher any further?
36 But Jesus, not heeding the word spoken, saith unto the ruler of the synagogue, Fear not, only believe.
37 And he suffered no man to follow with him, save Peter, and James, and John the brother of James.
38 And they come to the house of the ruler of the synagogue; and he beholdeth a tumult, and many weeping and wailing greatly.
39 And when he was entered in, he saith unto them, Why make ye a tumult, and weep? the child is not dead, but sleepeth.
40 And they laughed him to scorn. But he, having put them all forth, taketh the father of the child and her mother and them that were with him, and goeth in where the child was.

Mark 5:8-40 in Translation for Translators

9 So, in order to expel the demon more easily, Jesus asked him, “What is your name?” He replied, “My name is Crowd/Mob because there are many of us evil spirits in this man.”
10 Then the evil spirits fervently kept begging Jesus that he not send them out of the region.
11 At the same time, a large herd of pigs was ◄grazing/rooting for food► nearby on the hillside.
12 So the evil spirits pleaded with Jesus, “Allow us to go to the pigs in order that we might enter them!”
13 He permitted them to do that. So the evil spirits left the man and entered the pigs. The herd, which numbered about 2,000, rushed down the cliff into the lake, and drowned in the lake.
14 The men who had been tending the pigs ran and reported in the town and the countryside what had happened. Many people went to see what had happened.
15 They came to the place where Jesus was. Then they saw the man whom evil spirits had previously controlled. He was sitting there with clothes on and mentally sound. As a result, they became afraid because they thought that Jesus might destroy more of their property. (OR, they realized that Jesus must be very powerful.)
16 The people who had seen what had happened described what had happened to the man whom the evil spirits previously controlled. They also described what had happened to the pigs.
17 Then the people pleaded with Jesus to leave their region.
18 As Jesus got in the boat in order to leave, the man whom the evil spirits previously controlled begged Jesus, “ Please let me go with you!”
19 But Jesus did not let him go with him. On the contrary, he said to him, “Go home to your family and tell them how much the Lord God has done for you, and tell them how God was kind to you.”
20 So the man left and traveled around the Ten Towns district. He told people how much Jesus had done for him. All the people who heard what the man said were amazed.
21 Jesus and his disciples went in a boat back around Lake Galilee to where they were before. When they arrived at the shore of the lake, a large crowd gathered around Jesus.
22 One of the men who presided over a ◄synagogue/Jewish meeting place►, whose name was Jairus, came there. When he saw Jesus, he prostrated himself at his feet.
23 Then he pleaded with Jesus earnestly, “My twelve-year old daughter is sick and nearly dead! Please come to my house and place your hands on her in order that she will be healed {to heal her}, so that she will not die!”
24 So Jesus and the disciples went with him. A large crowd followed Jesus and many pushed close to him.
25 There was a woman in the crowd who had vaginal bleeding EUP every day for twelve years.
26 She had suffered much while many doctors treated her. But although she had spent all her money to pay the doctors, she had not been helped {they had not helped her}. Instead, she had become worse EUP.
27 After she heard that Jesus healed people, she came to where he was and pushed in the crowd close behind Jesus.
28 She did that because she was thinking, “If I touch him or even if I touch his clothes, I will be healed {his power will heal me}.” So she touched Jesus' clothes.
29 At once her bleeding stopped. At the same time, she sensed that she had been cured of {that he had cured} her illness.
30 Jesus also immediately sensed that his power had healed someone. So he turned around in the crowd and asked, “Who touched my clothes?”
31 One of his disciples replied, “You can see that many people are crowding close to you! Probably many people touched you! So ◄why do you ask ‘Who touched me?’ /We are surprised that you ask ‘Who touched me?’ RHQ►”
32 But Jesus kept looking around in order to see the one who had done it.
33 The woman was very afraid and trembling. She thought that Jesus might be angry because she had violated the law that women who had such a sickness should not touch other people. But she knew that Jesus had healed her. So she prostrated herself before him. Then she told him truthfully about what she had done.
34 He said to her, “◄Ma'am/Young lady►, because you have believed that I could heal you , I have healed you. You may go home with peace in your heart/innner being , because I promise that you will not be sick this way anymore .”
35 While Jesus was still speaking to that woman, some people arrived who had come from Jairus' house. They said to Jairus, “Your daughter has now died. So ◄it is useless that you bother the teacher any longer by urging him to go to your house!/why do you bother the teacher any longer by urging him to go to your house?► RHQ”
36 But when Jesus heard what these men said, he said to Jairus, “Do not think that the situation is hopeless! Just keep believing that she will live!”
37 Then he allowed only his three closest disciples, Peter, James, and John, to go with him to Jairus' house. He did not allow any other people to go with him. After they arrived near the house, Jesus saw that the people there were in turmoil. They were weeping and wailing DOU loudly.
39 He entered the house and then he said to them, knowing that he was going to cause her to live again, “◄Do not make such a disturbance!/Why are you making such a disturbance?► RHQ Stop crying, for the child is not dead! On the contrary, she is only sleeping HYP, EUP!”
40 The people laughed at him, because they knew that she was dead. But he sent all the other people outside the house. Then he took the child's father and mother and the three disciples who were with him. He went into the room where the child was lying.

21 When Jesus had crossed back over in the boat to the other side, a great multitude was gathered to him; and he was by the sea.
22 Behold, one of the rulers of the synagogue, Jairus by name, came; and seeing him, he fell at his feet
23 and begged him much, saying, “My little daughter is at the point of death. Please come and lay your hands on her, that she may be made healthy, and live.”
24 He went with him, and a great multitude followed him, and they pressed upon him on all sides.
25 A certain woman who had a discharge of blood for twelve years,
26 and had suffered many things by many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was no better, but rather grew worse,
27 having heard the things concerning Jesus, came up behind him in the crowd and touched his clothes.
28 For she said, “If I just touch his clothes, I will be made well.”
29 Immediately the flow of her blood was dried up, and she felt in her body that she was healed of her affliction.
30 Immediately Jesus, perceiving in himself that the power had gone out from him, turned around in the crowd and asked, “Who touched my clothes?”
31 His disciples said to him, “You see the multitude pressing against you, and you say, ‘Who touched me?’”
32 He looked around to see her who had done this thing.
33 But the woman, fearing and trembling, knowing what had been done to her, came and fell down before him, and told him all the truth.
34 He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace, and be cured of your disease.”
35 While he was still speaking, people came from the synagogue ruler’s house, saying, “Your daughter is dead. Why bother the Teacher any more?”
36 But Jesus, when he heard the message spoken, immediately said to the ruler of the synagogue, “Don’t be afraid, only believe.”
37 He allowed no one to follow him except Peter, James, and John the brother of James.
38 He came to the synagogue ruler’s house, and he saw an uproar, weeping, and great wailing.
39 When he had entered in, he said to them, “Why do you make an uproar and weep? The child is not dead, but is asleep.”
40 They ridiculed him. But he, having put them all out, took the father of the child, her mother, and those who were with him, and went in where the child was lying.

Mark 5:8-40 in Bible in Basic English

8 For Jesus had said to him, Come out of the man, you unclean spirit.
9 And Jesus said, What is your name? And he made answer, My name is Legion, because there are a great number of us.
10 And he made strong prayers to him not to send them away out of the country.
11 Now on the mountain side there was a great herd of pigs getting their food.
12 And they said to him, Send us into the pigs, so that we may go into them.
13 And he let them do it. And the unclean spirits came out and went into the pigs; and the herd went rushing down a sharp slope into the sea, about two thousand of them; and they came to their death in the sea.
14 And their keepers went running and gave an account of it in the town and in the country. And people came to see what had taken place.
15 And they came to Jesus, and saw the man in whom had been the evil spirits seated, clothed and with full use of his senses, and they were full of fear.
16 And those who had seen it gave them an account of what had been done to him who had the evil spirits, and of the fate of the pigs.
17 And they made a request to him to go out of their country.
18 And when he was getting into the boat, the man in whom had been the evil spirits had a great desire to come with him.
19 And he would not let him, but said to him, Go to your house, to your friends, and give them news of the great things the Lord has done for you, and how he had mercy on you.
20 And he went on his way, and made public in the country of Decapolis what great things Jesus had done for him: and all men were full of wonder.
21 And when Jesus had gone over again in the boat to the other side, a great number of people came to him: and he was by the sea.
22 And one of the rulers of the Synagogue, Jairus by name, came, and seeing him, went down at his feet,
23 And made strong prayers to him, saying, My little daughter is near to death: it is my prayer that you will come and put your hands on her, so that she may be made well, and have life.
24 And he went with him; and a great number of people went after him, and came round him.
25 And a woman, who had had a flow of blood for twelve years,
26 And had undergone much at the hands of a number of medical men, and had given all she had, and was no better, but even worse,
27 When she had news of the things which Jesus did, went among the people coming after him, and put her hand on his robe.
28 For she said, If I may only put my hand on his robe, I will be made well.
29 And straight away the fountain of her blood was stopped, and she had a feeling in her body that her disease had gone and she was well.
30 And straight away Jesus was conscious that power had gone out of him; and, turning to the people, he said, Who was touching my robe?
31 And his disciples said to him, You see the people round you on every side, and you say, Who was touching me?
32 And on his looking round to see her who had done this thing,
33 The woman, shaking with fear, conscious of what had been done to her, came and, falling on her face before him, gave him a true account of everything.
34 And he said to her, Daughter, your faith has made you well; go in peace, and be free from your disease.
35 And while he was still talking, they came from the ruler of the Synagogue's house, saying, Your daughter is dead: why are you still troubling the Master?
36 But Jesus, giving no attention to their words, said to the ruler of the Synagogue, Have no fear, only have faith.
37 And he did not let anyone come with him, but Peter and James and John, the brother of James.
38 And they came to the house of the ruler of the Synagogue; and he saw people running this way and that, and weeping and crying loudly.
39 And when he had gone in, he said to them, Why are you making such a noise and weeping? The child is not dead, but sleeping.
40 And they were laughing at him. But he, having sent them all out, took the father of the child and her mother and those who were with him, and went in where the child was.

Mark 5:8-40 in Darby Translation

8 For he said to him, Come forth, unclean spirit, out of the man.
9 And he asked him, What is thy name? And he says to him, Legion is my name, because we are many.
10 And he besought him much that he would not send them away out of the country.
11 Now there was there just at the mountain a great herd of swine feeding;
12 and they besought him, saying, Send us into the swine that we may enter into them.
13 And Jesus immediately allowed them. And the unclean spirits going out entered into the swine, and the herd rushed down the steep slope, into the sea (about two thousand), and were choked in the sea.
14 And those that were feeding them fled and reported it in the city and in the country. And they went out to see what it was that had taken place.
15 And they come to Jesus, and they see the possessed of demons sitting and clothed and sensible, him that had had the legion: and they were afraid.
16 And they that had seen it related to them how it had happened to the man possessed by demons, and concerning the swine.
17 And they began to beg him to depart from their coasts.
18 And as he went on board ship, the man that had been possessed by demons besought him that he might be with him.
19 And he suffered him not, but says to him, Go to thine home to thine own people, and tell them how great things the Lord has done for thee, and has had mercy on thee.
20 And he went away and began to proclaim in the Decapolis how great things Jesus had done for him; and all wondered.
21 And Jesus having passed over in the ship again to the other side, a great crowd gathered to him; and he was by the sea.
22 And behold there comes one of the rulers of the synagogue, by name Jairus, and seeing him, falls down at his feet;
23 and he besought him much, saying, My little daughter is at extremity; I pray that thou shouldest come and lay thy hands upon her so that she may be healed, and may live.
24 And he went with him, and a large crowd followed him and pressed on him.
25 And a certain woman who had had a flux of blood twelve years,
26 and had suffered much under many physicians, and had spent everything she had and had found no advantage from it, but had rather got worse,
27 having heard concerning Jesus, came in the crowd behind and touched his clothes;
28 for she said, If I shall touch but his clothes I shall be healed.
29 And immediately her fountain of blood was dried up, and she knew in her body that she was cured from the scourge.
30 And immediately Jesus, knowing in himself the power that had gone out of him, turning round in the crowd said, Who has touched my clothes?
31 And his disciples said to him, Thou seest the crowd pressing on thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me?
32 And he looked round about to see her who had done this.
33 But the woman, frightened and trembling, knowing what had taken place in her, came and fell down before him, and told him all the truth.
34 And he said to her, Daughter, thy faith has healed thee; go in peace, and be well of thy scourge.
35 While he was yet speaking, they come from the ruler of the synagogue's house, saying, Thy daughter has died, why troublest thou the teacher any further?
36 But Jesus immediately, having heard the word spoken, says to the ruler of the synagogue, Fear not; only believe.
37 And he suffered no one to accompany him save Peter and James, and John the brother of James.
38 And he comes to the house of the ruler of the synagogue, and sees the tumult, and people weeping and wailing greatly.
39 And entering in he says to them, Why do ye make a tumult and weep? the child has not died, but sleeps.
40 And they derided him. But he, having put them all out, takes with him the father of the child, and the mother, and those that were with him, and enters in where the child was lying.

13 And Jesus immediately gave them leave. And the unclean spirits going out, entered into the swine: and the herd with great violence was carried headlong into the sea, being about two thousand, and were stifled in the sea.
14 And they that fed them fled, and told it in the city and in the fields. And they went out to see what was done:
15 And they came to Jesus, and they see him that was troubled with the devil, sitting, clothed, and well in his wits, and they were afraid.
16 And they that had seen it, told them, in what manner he had been dealt with who had the devil; and concerning the swine.
17 And they began to pray him that he would depart from their coasts.
18 And when he went up into the ship, he that had been troubled with the devil, began to beseech him that he might be with him.

28 For she said: If I shall touch but his garment, I shall be whole.
29 And forthwith the fountain of her blood was dried up, and she felt in her body that she was healed of the evil.

Mark 5:8-40 in The New Testament with Commentary

8 Because He was saying to him, “You unclean spirit, come out of the man!”
9 Then He asked him, “What is your name?” And he answered, saying, “Legion is my name, because we are many.”
10 He started begging Him repeatedly that He would not send them out of that region.
11 Now a large herd of pigs was feeding there on the hillside.
12 So all the demons begged Him saying, “Send us into the pigs, so that we may enter them.”
13 And forthwith Jesus gave them permission; and coming out the unclean spirits went into the pigs (there were about two thousand); but the herd rushed down the steep bank into the sea, and they were drowned by the sea.
14 So those who were tending the pigs ran off and reported it in the town and the countryside. And they went out to see what it was that had happened.
15 They came to Jesus and observed the man who had been demonized, who had the legion, sitting and clothed and in his right mind; and they were afraid.
16 Those who had seen it related to them how it happened to the demonized man, and about the pigs.
17 Then they began to implore Him to depart from their borders.
18 Well upon His getting into the boat, the man who had been demonized started begging Him that he might be with Him.
19 But Jesus did not permit him, but said to him, “Go home to your family and report to them how much the Lord has done for you; and He had mercy on you.”
20 So he departed and began to proclaim in Decapolis how much Jesus had done for him; and all were marveling.
21 Now when Jesus had crossed over again by boat to the other side, a large crowd gathered to Him; and He was by the sea.
22 And then, one of the synagogue rulers, named Jairus, comes, and upon finding Him he falls at His feet
23 and pleads earnestly with Him, saying, “My little daughter is at the point of death; do come and lay your hands on her so that she may be saved, and she will live.”
24 So He went with him. A large crowd was also following Him, and they were pressing around Him.
25 Now a certain woman—who had been bleeding for twelve years,
26 and had suffered many things under many doctors, and had spent all that she had, yet instead of getting better she grew worse—
27 when she heard about Jesus, she came from behind in the crowd and touched His garment.
28 (She had kept saying, “If I can just touch His clothes, I will be healed.”)
29 Immediately the flow of her blood was dried up, and she knew in her body that she was healed from the affliction.
30 And instantly Jesus perceived within Himself that some power had gone out of Him, and turning around in the crowd He said, “Who touched my clothes?”
31 So His disciples said to Him, “You see the crowd pressing around you, yet you say, ‘Who touched me?’?”
32 But He kept looking around to see who had done it.
33 So the woman, fearing and trembling, knowing what had happened to her, came and fell down before Him and told Him the whole truth.
34 And He said to her: “Daughter, your faith has saved you. Go into peace and be healed from your affliction.”
35 While He was still speaking, they came from the synagogue ruler's house saying: “Your daughter died. Why trouble the teacher further?”
36 But immediately upon hearing the spoken message Jesus said to the synagogue ruler, “Don't be afraid; just believe!”
37 He allowed no one to follow Him except Peter, James, and John, the brother of James.
38 Then He came to the synagogue ruler's house and found a commotion—weeping and loud wailing.
39 So upon entering He said to them: “Why are you making such a commotion and weeping? The child is not dead, but is asleep.”
40 But they started ridiculing Him. After He put them all out, He took the child's father and mother, and those with Him, and went in where the child was lying.

Mark 5:8-40 in Free Bible Version

8 For Jesus had already told the evil spirit to leave the man.
9 Then Jesus asked him, “What is your name?” “My name is Legion, because we are many!” he replied.
10 He also repeatedly pleaded with Jesus not to send them a long way away.
11 A large herd of pigs was feeding on the hillside nearby.
12 The evil spirits pleaded with him, “Send us into the pigs so we can enter them.”
13 Jesus allowed them to do this. The evil spirits left the man and went into the pigs. The whole herd, about two thousand, rushed down the steep cliff into the sea and drowned.
14 The pig-keepers ran away, and spread the news all over town and in the countryside. People came out to see what had happened.
15 When they found Jesus they saw the man who had been demon-possessed sitting there, dressed, and in his right mind—the one who had the legion of evil spirits—and they became frightened!
16 Then those who had seen what had happened to the man who had been demon-possessed and the pigs told the others.
17 They began pleading with Jesus to leave their district.
18 As Jesus climbed into the boat, the man who had been demon-possessed begged to go with him.
19 But Jesus refused, telling him, “Go home to your own people, and tell them how much the Lord has done for you and how he has been merciful to you.”
20 So the man went on his way and began to tell the people of the Ten Cities everything Jesus had done for him, and everyone was amazed.
21 Jesus went back again by boat to the other side of the lake where a large crowd gathered around him at the shore.
22 A synagogue leader, a man named Jairus, came to him. When he saw Jesus, he fell at his feet
23 and pleaded with him, saying, “My little daughter is about to die. Please come and place your hands on her so she may be healed and live.”
24 So Jesus went with him. Everybody followed, crowding and jostling him.
25 A woman was there who had been ill from bleeding for twelve years.
26 She'd suffered considerably under the care of many doctors, and had spent all she had. But nothing helped her—in fact she'd grown worse.
27 She had heard about Jesus, so she came up behind him through the crowd, and touched his cloak.
28 She was telling herself, “If I can just touch his cloak, I'll be healed.”
29 The bleeding stopped immediately, and she felt her body healed from her disease.
30 Jesus, sensing at once that power had gone out from him, turned around in the crowd and asked, “Who touched my cloak?”
31 “Look at the crowd jostling you. What do you mean, ‘Who touched me?’” the disciples replied.
32 But Jesus went on looking around to see who had done it.
33 The woman, realizing what had happened to her, came and fell down before him, and told him the whole truth.
34 “My daughter, your trust in me has healed you. Go in peace. You have been completely cured of your disease,” Jesus told her.
35 While he was still speaking some people came from the home of the synagogue leader. “Your daughter is dead,” they said. “You don't need to bother the Teacher any longer.”
36 But Jesus paid no attention to what they said. He told the synagogue leader, “Don't be afraid, just trust in me.”
37 He wouldn't let anyone go with him except Peter, James, and James' brother John.
38 When they arrived at the synagogue leader's house, Jesus saw all the commotion, with people crying and wailing.
39 He went in and asked them, “Why are you making such a commotion with all this crying? The little girl isn't dead, she's just sleeping.”
40 They laughed scornfully at him. Jesus made everyone leave. Then he went into the room where the little girl was lying, taking with him the child's father and mother, and the three disciples.

10 And he besought him much that he would not send them away out of the country.
11 Now there was there nigh unto the mountains a great herd of swine feeding.
12 And all the devils besought him, saying, Send us into the swine, that we may enter into them.
13 And forthwith Jesus gave them leave. And the unclean spirits went out, and entered into the swine: and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the sea, (they were about two thousand,) and were choked in the sea.
14 And they that fed the swine fled, and told it in the city, and in the country. And they went out to see what it was that was done.
15 And they come to Jesus, and see him that was possessed with the devil, and had the legion, sitting, and clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid.
16 And they that saw it told them how it befell to him that was possessed with the devil, and also concerning the swine.
17 And they began to pray him to depart out of their coasts.
18 And when he was come into the ship, he that had been possessed with the devil prayed him that he might be with him.
19 Howbeit Jesus suffered him not, but saith unto him, Go home to thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and hath had compassion on thee.
20 And he departed, and began to publish in Decapolis how great things Jesus had done for him: and all men did marvel.
21 And when Jesus was passed over again by ship unto the other side, much people gathered unto him: and he was nigh unto the sea.
22 And behold, there cometh one of the rulers of the synagogue, Jairus by name; and when he saw him, he fell at his feet,
23 and besought him greatly, saying, My little daughter lieth at the point of death: I pray thee, come and lay thy hands on her, that she may be healed; and she shall live.
24 And Jesus went with him; and much people followed him, and thronged him.
25 And a certain woman, which had an issue of blood twelve years,
26 and had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse,
27 when she had heard of Jesus, came in the press behind, and touched his garment.
28 For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole.
29 And straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed of that plague.
30 And Jesus immediately knowing in himself that virtue had gone out of him, turned him about in the press, and said, Who touched my clothes?
31 And his disciples said unto him, Thou seest the multitude thronging thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me?
32 And he looked round about to see her that had done this thing.
33 But the woman fearing and trembling, knowing what was done in her, came and fell down before him, and told him all the truth.
34 And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace, and be whole of thy plague.
35 While he yet spake, there came from the ruler of the synagogue’s house certain which said, Thy daughter is dead: why troublest thou the Master any further?
36 As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, he saith unto the ruler of the synagogue, Be not afraid, only believe.
37 And he suffered no man to follow him, save Peter, and James, and John the brother of James.
38 And he cometh to the house of the ruler of the synagogue, and seeth the tumult, and them that wept and wailed greatly.
39 And when he was come in, he saith unto them, Why make ye this ado, and weep? the damsel is not dead, but sleepeth.
40 And they laughed him to scorn. But when he had put them all out, he taketh the father and the mother of the damsel, and them that were with him, and entereth in where the damsel was lying.

Mark 5:8-40 in Nyangumarta English Bible

8 Jesus said to the spirit, “Leave the man! Go away!”
9 Jesus asked the man, “What is your name?” He said to him, “My name is 'Many'. We are many spirits.”
10 They were asking him, “Do not send us from this country.”
11 On that rise there were pigs, many of them, 2,000, they were eating green grass.
12 The spirits begged Jesus, “Send us to the pigs. How about it? Can we go into them?”
13 He said to them, “Yes, you can go to the pigs.” Right then they left that man, they all went to the pigs, the spirits went into them. Right then all the pigs ran down from the hill, they went straight into the water, they died in the water.
14 The people who looked after the pigs scattered, they ran away afraid. They told many from the town and country. After that many came to see.
15 When they came to Jesus they saw that man who used to be crazy there. He was sitting near Jesus, he had clothes on, he was without evil spirits, not crazy, he was well. After seeing him they became afraid.
16 There were others who were standing there. Earlier they saw the pigs go into the water. They told those as soon as they came, “This Jesus sent the spirits from the man to the pigs. After that they ran down from the hill, they went into the waterhole, the water drowned all the pigs, they are completely dead.”
17 After that the local inhabitants told Jesus, “Go. Leave our country.”
18 Then Jesus climbed in the dinghy. The man who had become well asked Jesus, “Can I come with you?”
19 He replied, “No. Return to your people. Tell them God was sorry for you, he truly made you well.”
20 In response to his word that man after he returned was going around in that country, in the east, in the 10 towns. He went to all people. He was telling them, “God made it very good for me. Jesus sent the spirits from me. He healed me.” They all were pleased, they were wondering about Jesus.
21a Then Jesus returned westwards to the other side of the waterhole.
21b Many people gathered with Jesus at the edge of the waterhole.
22 A man came, his name was Jairus. He was boss for the meeting house in his town. As soon as he saw Jesus he kneeled down in front of him.
23 He begged him, “My young daughter is very sick, she might die. Come to my camp, touch her with your hand. After that she will not die, she will truly stay alive.”
24 Jesus went with him, many were following those two. The people were squashing each other.
25 This woman also followed him. That woman had been sick a long time, 12 years. She truly kept losing blood (lit. 'blood kept crawling for her'), it was a big sickness.
26 She used to go to various doctors. They did not heal her. Hers was a big sickness. After that she had no money, still she was staying sick.
27 She heard, “Jesus heals sick people.” After she heard she said to herself, “I will touch just his clothes. After I touch him I will truly become well, I will be without sickness.” She did that. Partway along she came close to him, from behind she touched his clothes.
29 Right then her blood stopped flowing, that woman knew she was well, she was happy.
30 Right then Jesus knew about that, he said to himself, “Someone touched me, that person has become healthy.” He stopped, he turned round. He asked them, “Who touched my clothes.”
31 His men said to him, Why did you say that? Many people have been squashing you. Why did you ask, 'Who touched me.'?”
32 He was ignoring them, still he was looking around.
33 That woman knew about herself, she was truly healthy, without sickness. She was trembling with fear, she came to Jesus. She kneeled down in front of his feet, she truly told him a straight word.
34 Jesus talked kindly to her, “You believed in me for good. Therefore now you are well. Go without fear, you will stay well. From now on you will not again get this sickness.
35 While he was talking to the woman some others came from Jairus's house. They said to Jairus, “Your daughter is dead. Leave the teacher alone. Don't annoy him.
36 Jesus heard their words. He said to Jairus, “Don't be afraid, don't get upset. Still believe in me.”
37 Many people were following Jairus and Jesus. Jesus told them, “Stay here.” Then Jesus picked just three of his men, Peter and James and James's younger brother, John. They went, Jesus and Jairus also, to the camp of Jairus.
38 They went to the front of the house, they stopped. There at the house they saw many people. They were all crying with one another for the young girl.
39 When Jesus entered he told them, “Don't cry. That young girl is only sleeping. She is not dead.”
40 They mocked him. They did not believe his word. After that he told them, “Go outside.” Then he told just the mother and father of the child and Peter and James and John, “Let us go to the child.” They went to that dead child.

8 For Jesus had said, “Come out from the man, you foul spirit.”
9 And he asked him, “What is your name?” “My name,” he said, “is Legion, for there are many of us;”
10 and he begged Jesus again and again not to send them away out of that country.
11 There was a large drove of pigs close by, feeding on the hillside;
12 and the spirits begged Jesus, “Send us into the pigs so that we can take possession of them.”
13 Jesus gave them leave. They came out, and entered into the pigs; and the drove — about two thousand in number — rushed down the steep slope into the sea and were drowned in the sea.
14 Then the men who tended them ran away, and carried the news to the town, and to the country around; and the people went to see what had happened.
15 When they came to Jesus, they found the possessed man sitting there, clothed and in his right mind — the man who had had the ‘Legion’ in him — and they were awe-struck.
16 Then those who had seen it related to them all that had happened to the possessed man, as well as about the pigs;
17 so they began to beg Jesus to leave their region.
18 As Jesus was getting into the boat, the possessed man begged him to let him stay with him.
19 But Jesus refused. “Go back to your home, to your own people,” he said, “and tell them of all that the Lord has done for you, and how he took pity on you.”
20 So the man went, and began to proclaim in the district of the Ten Towns all that Jesus had done for him; and everyone was amazed.
21 By the time Jesus had recrossed in the boat to the opposite shore, a great number of people had gathered to meet him, and were standing by the sea.
22 One of the leaders of the synagogue, whose name was Jairus, came and, as soon as he saw Jesus, threw himself at his feet and begged him repeatedly,
23 saying, “My little daughter is at death's door. Please come and place your hands on her so that she may recover and live.”
24 So Jesus went with him. A great number of people followed Jesus, and kept pressing around him.
25 Meanwhile a woman who for twelve years had suffered from hemorrhage,
26 and undergone much at the hands of many doctors, (spending all she had without obtaining any relief, but, on the contrary, growing worse),
27 heard about Jesus, came behind in the crowd, and touched his cloak.
28 “If I can only touch his clothes,” she said, “I will get well!”
29 At once her bleeding stopped, and she felt in herself that she was cured of her affliction.
30 Jesus at once became aware of the power that had gone out from him, and, turning around in the crowd, he said, “Who touched my clothes?”

34 “Daughter,” he said, “your faith has delivered you. Go, and peace be with you; be free from your affliction.”
35 Before he had finished speaking, some people from the house of the synagogue leader came and said, “Your daughter is dead! Why should you trouble the teacher further?”
36 But Jesus, overhearing what they were saying, said to the synagogue leader, “Do not be afraid; only have faith.”

38 Presently they reached the leader's house, where Jesus saw a scene of confusion — people weeping and wailing incessantly.
39 “Why this confusion and weeping?” he said on entering. “The little child is not dead; she is asleep.”
40 They began to laugh at him; but he sent them all out, and then, with the child's father and mother and his companions, went into the room where she was lying.

Mark 5:8-40 in Plain English Version

9 Jesus asked the man, “What is your name?” He said, “My name is Big Mob. You see, we are a mob of bad spirits inside this man.
10 Please don’t send us away from this country.”
11 There were about 2,000 pigs having a feed on the hill nearby.
12 The bad spirits asked Jesus, “Can we go into that big mob of pigs over there?”
13 Jesus let those bad spirits go out of the man and go into the pigs. Then those pigs went mad and ran down the steep hill into the lake and drowned themselves in the water.
14 The men that looked after the pigs were frightened and they ran back to their community and told everyone what happened. They talked to the people in the town and the people that lived outside of the town too. A lot of people wanted to see for themselves,
15 so they ran out to that place where Jesus was. They saw that man sitting down quiet and wearing clothes. He wasn’t mad any more. Then those people got frightened.
16 The men that looked after the pigs told them the whole story about the man and the pigs.
17 Then all that mob started to ask Jesus strongly to go away from their country and leave them alone.
18 Jesus listened to them and started to get into the boat. Then the man, that used to have the bad spirits in him, asked Jesus strongly, “Can I come with you?”
19 Jesus said, “No, I want you to go back to your family and to your own mob. I want you to tell everybody about the good things God did for you. Tell them that God was really good to you.”
20 Then that man went all over that country called Ten Towns and told everybody that story. He told them all about the good things Jesus did for him. Everybody got a really big surprise.
21 Jesus and his followers got back into the boat and went to the other side of the lake. A really big mob of people was waiting for them there beside the water.
22 A man called Jairus came up to them. He was one of the bosses of a Jewish meeting place. He saw Jesus and went close to him and got down on his knees in front of him, to show him respect.
23 He strongly asked Jesus to help his daughter. He said, “My little girl is really sick and I think she will die. Please come and put your hands on her. I know you can make her better so that she will not die.”
24 Jesus listened to the man and started to go with him. The big mob of people followed them. They came up really close and pushed up against him Jesus, all around him.
25 While they were walking along, a sick woman was there. A long time before this she started bleeding and that bleeding didn’t stop.
26 She went to every doctor but none of them could help her. She spent all her money trying to get better, but it was no good, she only got worse. She kept bleeding for 12 years.
27 Then somebody told her about Jesus and she thought to herself, “If I can just touch his coat, I will get better.” So she came up behind Jesus and touched his coat
29 and straight away her bleeding stopped. She knew she was better.
30 Jesus knew straight away that power went out from him, so he stopped walking, turned around and asked the people, “Who touched my clothes?”
31 Jesus’s followers said, “There are big mobs of people here pushing up against you. Why do you ask, ‘Who touched me?’ Lots of people touched you.”
32 Jesus kept on looking around to see the person that used his power.
33 That woman knew that she was the one that got better, so she was very frightened and she was shaking. She came to Jesus and got down on her knees in front of him, to show him respect, and she told him her story. She told him that she touched him.
34 Jesus said to her, “Dear Lady, you really believed in me, so now you are better. You can go home and have no more trouble. You are not sick any more.”
35 While Jesus was talking to the woman, somebody came to Jairus from his house with bad news. He said, “I’m sorry, it’s too late. Your little girl is dead. Don’t worry Jesus now.”
36 Jesus heard their words but took no notice. He said to Jairus, “Don’t be frightened. Just trust me.”
37 Then Jesus told the people, “Stay away from this man’s house.” He only let a few people go with him. They were the girl’s father and mother, and Peter, and James and his young brother John. They were the only ones that went with him.
38 They got close to the house, and Jesus heard other people inside it making a big noise. They were crying and shouting aloud for that dead girl.
39 Jesus went into the house and asked them, “Why are you making all this noise? That little girl isn’t dead. She is just asleep.”
40 They knew the girl was dead, so they just laughed at Jesus. He told them, “Get out,” and he forced them all outside the house. Then Jesus said to the girl’s mother and father, and to his 3 friends, “You come with me.” Then they went together into the room where the girl lay.

Mark 5:8-40 in Unlocked Literal Bible

8 For he had been saying to him, “Come out of the man, you unclean spirit.”
9 He asked him, “What is your name?” He answered him, “My name is Legion, for we are many.”
10 He begged him again and again not to send them out of the region.
11 Now a great herd of pigs was there feeding on the hill,
12 and they begged him, saying, “Send us into the pigs; let us enter into them.”
13 So he allowed them; the unclean spirits came out and entered into the pigs, and they rushed down the steep hill into the sea, and about two thousand pigs drowned in the sea.
14 Then those who were feeding the pigs ran away and reported what had happened in the city and in the countryside, and so people went out to see what had happened.
15 Then they came to Jesus and they saw the demon-possessed man, the one who had been possessed by Legion, sitting there, clothed and in his right mind; and they were afraid.
16 Those who had seen what happened to the demon-possessed man told them about it in detail, and they also them told about the pigs.
17 Then they started to beg him to leave their region.
18 When he was getting into the boat, the demon-possessed man begged him that he might be with him.
19 But Jesus did not permit him, but said to him, “Go to your house and to your people and tell them what the Lord has done for you, and how he has shown you mercy.”
20 So he went away and began to proclaim the great things that Jesus had done for him in the Decapolis, and everyone was amazed.
21 Now when Jesus had crossed over again to the other side, in the boat, a great crowd gathered around him, as he was beside the sea.
22 Then one of the leaders of the synagogue, named Jairus, came, and when he saw him, fell at his feet.
23 He begged again and again, saying, “My little daughter is near death. I beg you, come and lay your hands on her that she may be made well and live.”
24 So he went with him, and a great crowd followed him and pressed close around him.
25 Now a woman was there who had a flow of blood for twelve years.
26 She had suffered much from many doctors and had spent everything that she had, but instead of getting better she grew worse.
27 When she had heard the reports about Jesus, she came up behind him in the crowd and touched his cloak.
28 For she said, “If I touch just his clothes, I will be healed.”
29 When she touched him, the bleeding stopped, and she felt in her body that she was healed from her affliction.
30 Jesus immediately realized in himself that power had gone out from him. He turned around in the crowd and said, “Who touched my clothes?”
31 His disciples said to him, “You see this crowd pressed around you, and you say, 'Who touched me?'”
32 But Jesus looked around to see who had done it.
33 The woman, knowing what had happened to her, feared and trembled. She came and fell down before him and told him the whole truth.
34 He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace and be healed from your disease.”
35 While he was speaking, some people came from the leader of the synagogue, saying, “Your daughter is dead. Why trouble the teacher any longer?”
36 But when Jesus overheard what they said, he said to the leader of the synagogue, “Do not be afraid. Just believe.”
37 He did not permit anyone to accompany him, except Peter, James, and John, the brother of James.
38 They came to the house of the leader of the synagogue and he saw there people making a lot of noise; they were weeping and wailing loudly.
39 When he entered the house, he said to them, “Why are you upset and why do you weep? The child is not dead but sleeps.”
40 They laughed at him. But he put them all outside and took the father of the child and the mother and those who were with him, and he went in where the child was.

8 And Jesus said to him, Thou unclean spirit, go out from the man.
9 And Jesus asked him, What is thy name? And he saith to him, A legion is my name; for we be many.
10 And he prayed Jesus much, that he should not put them out of the country.
11 And there was there about the hill a great flock of swine or a great drove of hogs pasturing.
12 And the spirits prayed Jesus, and said, Send us into the swine or into the hogs, that we enter into them.
13 And anon Jesus granted to them. And the unclean spirits went out, and entered into the swine or the hogs, and with a great rush the flock was cast headlong into the sea, a two thousand, and they were drenched or drowned in the sea.
14 And they that kept or fed them, fled, and told into the city, and into the fields; and they went out, to see what was done.
15 And they came to Jesus, and saw him that had been travailed of the fiend, sitting clothed, and of whole mind; and they dreaded.
16 And they that saw, how it was done to him that had a fiend, and of the swine or the hogs, told to them.
17 And they began to pray him, that he should go away from their coasts.
18 And when he went up into a boat, he that was travailed of the devil, began to pray him, that he should be with him.
19 But Jesus received him not, but said to him, Go thou into thine house to thine, and tell to them, how great things the Lord hath done to thee, and had mercy of thee.
20 And he went forth, and began to preach in Decapolis, how great things Jesus had done to him; and all men wondered.
21 And when Jesus had gone up into the boat again over the sea, much people came together to him, and was about the sea.
22 And one of the princes of the synagogues, by name Jairus, came, and saw him, and he fell down at his feet,
23 and prayed him much, and said, My daughter is nigh dead; come thou, put thine hand on her, that she be safe, and live.
24 And he went forth with him, and much people pursued him, and thrust, either oppressed, him.
25 And a woman that had been in the bloody flux or the flux of blood twelve years,
26 and had received many things of full many leeches, and had spended all her good or her things, and was nothing amended or and nothing profited, but was rather the worse,
27 when she had heard of Jesus, she came among the people behind, and touched his cloth.
28 For she said, That if I touch yea his cloth, I shall be safe.
29 And anon the well of her blood was dried up, and she feeled in her body that she was healed of the sickness.
30 And anon Jesus knew in himself the virtue that was gone out of him, and he turned to the people, and said, Who touched my clothes?
31 And his disciples said to him, Thou seest the people thrusting or pressing thee, and sayest, Who touched me?
32 And Jesus looked about to see her that had done this thing.
33 And the woman dreaded, and quaked, witting that it was done in her, and came, and felled down before him, and said to him all the truth. Forsooth the woman dreading, and trembling, knowing that it was done in her, came, and fell down before him, and said to him all the truth.
34 And Jesus said to her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee safe; go in peace, and be thou whole of thy sickness.
35 Yet while he spake, messengers came to the prince of the synagogue, and said, Thy daughter is dead; what travailest thou the master further?
36 But when the word was heard that was said, Jesus said to the prince of the synagogue, Do not thou dread, only believe thou.
37 And he took no man to pursue him, but Peter, and James, and John, the brother of James.
38 And they came into the house of the prince of the synagogue. And he saw noise, and men weeping and wailing much.
39 And he went in, and said to them, What be ye troubled, and weep? The damsel is not dead, but sleepeth.
40 And they scorned him. But when all were put out, he taketh the father and the mother of the damsel, and them that were with him, and they entered, where the damsel lay.

8 And Jesus said to him, Thou unclean spirit, go out from the man.
9 And Jesus asked him, What is thy name? And he saith to him, A legion is my name; for we be many.
10 And he prayed Jesus much, that he should not put them out of the country. (And he greatly beseeched Jesus, that he would not send them out of the province.)
11 And there was there about the hill a great flock of swine or a great drove of hogs pasturing. (And there was there about the hill a great herd of pigs at pasture.)
12 And the spirits prayed Jesus, and said, Send us into the swine, or Send us into the hogs, (or Send us into the pigs), (so) that we enter into them.
13 And anon Jesus granted (that) to them. And the unclean spirits went out, and entered into the swine or (and) into the hogs, and with a great rush the flock was cast headlong into the sea, a two thousand, and they were drenched in the sea. (And at once Jesus granted that to them. And the unclean spirits went out, and entered into the pigs, and with a great rush the herd was thrown headlong into the lake, about two thousand of them, and they were drowned in the lake.)
14 And they that kept (watch over) them, fled or Soothly they that fed them, fled, and told into the city, and into the fields; and they went out, to see what was done.
15 And they came to Jesus, and saw him that had been travailed of the fiend, sitting clothed, and of whole mind; and they dreaded. (And they came to Jesus, and saw him who had been troubled by the demon, sitting clothed, and being of whole mind; and they had fear, or and they were afraid.)
16 And they that saw, how it was done to him that had a fiend (or how it was done to him who had a demon), and of the swine or and of the hogs, told to them.
17 And they began to pray him, that he should go away from their coasts. (And they beseeched him, that he would go away from their coasts.)
18 And when he went up into a boat, he that was travailed of the devil, began to pray him, that he should be with him. (And when he went up into the boat, he who was troubled by the demon, beseeched him, that he would go with him.)
19 But Jesus received him not, but said to him, Go thou into thine house to thine, and tell to them, how great things the Lord hath done to thee, and had mercy of thee. (But Jesus would not take him, but said to him, Go back to thine house or thy family, yea, unto thine, and tell them what great things the Lord hath done for thee, and how he had mercy on thee.)
20 And he went forth, and began to preach in Decapolis, how great things Jesus had done to him (or what great things Jesus had done for him); and all men wondered.
21 And when Jesus had gone up into the boat again over the sea, much people came together to him, and was about (or beside) the sea.
22 And one of the princes of the synagogues (or And one of the leaders of one of the synagogues), by name Jairus, came, and saw him, and he fell down at his feet,
23 and prayed him much, and said, My daughter is nigh dead; come thou, put thine hand on her, that she be safe, and live. (and greatly beseeched him, and said, My daughter is near death; come thou, put thine hand on her, so that she can be saved, and live, or so that she can be healed, and live.)
24 And he went forth with him, and much people (pur)sued him, and thrust, either oppressed, him. (And he went with him, and many people followed him, and pressed him.)
25 And a woman that had been in the bloody flux (for) twelve years, And a woman that was in the flux of blood (for) twelve years, (And a woman who had a flowing, or an issue, of blood for twelve years,)
26 and had received many things of full many leeches, and had spended all her good(s), (or and had received many treatments from a great many physicians, and had spent all her money), and was nothing amended or and (had) nothing profited, but was rather the worse,
27 when she had heard of Jesus, she came among the people behind, and touched his cloth (or and touched his cloak).
28 For she said, That if I touch yea his cloth, I shall be safe. (For she said to herself, If I touch even his cloak, then I shall be saved, or I shall be healed.)
29 And anon (or at once) the well of her blood was dried up, and she feeled in her body that she was healed of the sickness.
30 And anon Jesus knew in himself the virtue that was gone out of him (or And at once Jesus knew in himself that power had gone out of him), and he turned to the people, and said, Who touched my clothes?
31 And his disciples said to him, Thou seest the people thrusting or pressing thee, and sayest, Who touched me?
32 And Jesus looked about to see her that had done this thing.
33 And the woman dreaded, and quaked, (or And the woman was afraid, and shook), witting that it was done in her, and came, and felled down before him, and said to him all the truth. Forsooth the woman dreading, and trembling, knowing that it was done in her, came, and fell down before him, and said to him all the truth.
34 And Jesus said to her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee safe; go in peace, and be thou whole of thy sickness. (And Jesus said to her, Daughter, thy faith hath saved thee, or thy faith hath healed thee; go in peace, and be thou healed of thy sickness.)
35 Yet while he spake, messengers came to the prince of the synagogue (or messengers came to the leader of the synagogue), and said, Thy daughter is dead; what travailest thou the master (or the teacher) further?
36 But when the word was heard that was said, Jesus said to the prince of the synagogue, Do not thou dread, only believe thou. (But when this word was heard that was said, Jesus said to the leader of the synagogue, Do not fear, only believe.)
37 And he took no man to (pur)sue him (or And he allowed no one to follow him), but Peter, and James, and John, the brother of James.
38 And they came into the house of the prince of the synagogue. And he saw noise, and men weeping and wailing much. (And they came into the house of the leader of the synagogue. And he saw a commotion, with people loudly weeping and wailing.)
39 And he went in, and said to them, What be ye troubled (about), and weep? (or Why be ye troubled, and weep?) The damsel is not dead, but sleepeth.
40 And they scorned him. But when (they) all were put out, he taketh the father and the mother of the damsel, and them that were with him, and they entered, where the damsel lay.

Mark 5:8-40 in Young's Literal Translation

8 (for he said to him, 'Come forth, spirit unclean, out of the man,')
9 and he was questioning him, 'What is thy name?' and he answered, saying, 'Legion is my name, because we are many;'
10 and he was calling on him much, that he may not send them out of the region.
11 And there was there, near the mountains, a great herd of swine feeding,
12 and all the demons did call upon him, saying, 'Send us to the swine, that into them we may enter;'
13 and immediately Jesus gave them leave, and having come forth, the unclean spirits did enter into the swine, and the herd did rush down the steep place to the sea — and they were about two thousand — and they were choked in the sea.
14 And those feeding the swine did flee, and told in the city, and in the fields, and they came forth to see what it is that hath been done;
15 and they come unto Jesus, and see the demoniac, sitting, and clothed, and right-minded — him having had the legion — and they were afraid;
16 and those having seen it, declared to them how it had come to pass to the demoniac, and about the swine;
17 and they began to call upon him to go away from their borders.
18 And he having gone into the boat, the demoniac was calling on him that he may be with him,
19 and Jesus did not suffer him, but saith to him, 'Go away to thy house, unto thine own friends, and tell them how great things the Lord did to thee, and dealt kindly with thee;
20 and he went away, and began to proclaim in the Decapolis how great things Jesus did to him, and all were wondering.
21 And Jesus having passed over in the boat again to the other side, there was gathered a great multitude to him, and he was near the sea,
22 and lo, there doth come one of the chiefs of the synagogue, by name Jairus, and having seen him, he doth fall at his feet,
23 and he was calling upon him much, saying — 'My little daughter is at the last extremity — that having come, thou mayest lay on her thy hands, so that she may be saved, and she shall live;'
24 and he went away with him. And there was following him a great multitude, and they were thronging him,
25 and a certain woman, having an issue of blood twelve years,
26 and many things having suffered under many physicians, and having spent all that she had, and having profited nothing, but rather having come to the worse,
27 having heard about Jesus, having come in the multitude behind, she touched his garment,
28 for she said — 'If even his garments I may touch, I shall be saved;'
29 and immediately was the fountain of her blood dried up, and she knew in the body that she hath been healed of the plague.
30 And immediately Jesus having known in himself that out of him power had gone forth, having turned about in the multitude, said, 'Who did touch my garments?'
31 and his disciples said to him, 'Thou seest the multitude thronging thee, and thou sayest, 'Who did touch me!'
32 And he was looking round to see her who did this,
33 and the woman, having been afraid, and trembling, knowing what was done on her, came, and fell down before him, and told him all the truth,
34 and he said to her, 'Daughter, thy faith hath saved thee; go away in peace, and be whole from thy plague.'
35 As he is yet speaking, there come from the chief of the synagogue's house, certain, saying — 'Thy daughter did die, why still dost thou harass the Teacher?'
36 And Jesus immediately, having heard the word that is spoken, saith to the chief of the synagogue, 'Be not afraid, only believe.'
37 And he did not suffer any one to follow with him, except Peter, and James, and John the brother of James;
38 and he cometh to the house of the chief of the synagogue, and seeth a tumult, much weeping and wailing;
39 and having gone in he saith to them, 'Why do ye make a tumult, and weep? the child did not die, but doth sleep;
40 and they were laughing at him. And he, having put all forth, doth take the father of the child, and the mother, and those with him, and goeth in where the child is lying,
